  • Geographic information system (GIS) is being increasingly used for decision making, planning and agricultural environment management because of its analytical capacity. GIS and remote sensing have been combined with environmental models for many agricultural applications on monitoring of soils, agricultural water quality, microbial activity, vegetation and aquatic insect distribution. This paper introduce principles, vegetation indices, spatial data structure, spatial analysis of GIS and remote sensing in agricultural applications including terrain analysis, soil erosion, and runoff potential. National Academy of Agricultural Science (NAAS), Rural Development Administration (RDA) has a spatial database of agricultural soils, surface and underground water, weeds, aquatic insect, and climate data, and established a web-GIS system providing spatial and temporal variability of agricultural environment information since 2007. GIS-based interactive mapping system would encourage researchers and students to widely utilize spatial information on their studies with regard to agricultural and environmental problem solving combined with other national GIS database. GIS and remote sensing will play an important role to support and make decisions from a national level of conservation and protection to a farm level of management practice in the near future.

  • The increasing concern over radiation exposure in the nuclear industry has fostered agrressive efforts to reduce the levels of radiation exposure. One area of the effot to reduce the radiation exposure is the development of a remote radiation monitoring system. Remote radiation monitoring can serve many benificaial functions reduce exposure to radiation by plant personnel, impruve the quality of the data that is collected and recognize the radiation environment easily. Radiation mapping system gives a good information that represents radiation level distribution. The system we have developed consists of a data acquistion parts, mobile robot and remote control parts. Data acquisition parts consist of radiation detection module and vision acquistion module which collect radiation data, visiion data and distance information. In remote control parts, the acquision data are processed and displayed. We have constructed radiation mapping image by overlaying the vision and radiation data. The radiation mapping techniques for displaying the results of the survey in an easily comprehendable form will facilitate a better understanding of the radiation environment in the facility. This system can reduce workers radiation exposure and aid to help work plan, so it has significant benifits in cost and safety.

  • Green vegetation is one of the most critical factors for environment conditions thorough modulating evapotranspiration and absorption of solar radiation. Thus, fractional green vegetation cover (FVC) plays an important role in observing and managing environment. Remote sensing provides a seemingly obvious data source for quantifying FVC over large area. Therefore we compared a set of methods for estimating FVC using hyperspectral remote sensing data. For our study, we used Hyperion imagery acquired in April, 2002. In order to achieve our efforts, we analyzed simple NDVI-based method and spectral mixture analysis (SMA) models that were applied a variety of combinations of possible endmembers.

  • To control the remote system in the unstructured environment requires data under certain circumstances. When a machine is dealt with an unstructured environment, new environment structure is to be composed. The stereo vision system can get both the intensity data and the range data. So, in this paper, data architecture of a stereo image is proposed to set them.

  • Recently, the conventional controller of machine-tool has been increasingly replaced by the PC-based open architecture controller, which is independent of the CNC vendor and on which it is possible to implement user-defined application programs. This paper proposes CNCimplemented fault diagnosis and web-based remote services for machine-tool with open architecture CNC. The faults of CNC machine-tool are defined as the operational faults occupied by over $70{\%}$ of all faults. The operational faults are unpredictable as they occur without any warning. Two diagnostic models, the switching function and the step switching function, were proposed in order to diagnose faults efficiently. The faults were automatically diagnosed through the fault diagnosis system using the two diagnostic models. A suitable interface environment between CNC and developed application modules was constructed for the internal function of CNC. In addition, a suitable web environment was constructed for remote services. The web service functions, such as remote monitoring and remote control, were implemented, and their operability was tested through the web. The results obtained through this research could be a model of fault diagnosis and remote servicing for machine-tool with open architecture CNC.

  • This paper describes a development of a robot working in hazard environment. The developed robot consists of robot controller with vision system and host PC program. The robot and camera can move with 2 degree of freedom by independent remote controlling a user friendly designed joystick. An environment is recognized by the vision system and ultra sonic sensors. The visual image and command data translated through 900MHz and 447MHz RF controller, respectively. To show the validity of the developed system, operations of the robot in the field area were illustrated.

  • ACE (Advanced Collaboration Environment) [1] aims to provide people to have remote collaboration as they are in the same Space. To provide tele-presence in remote collaboration, quality of audio and sharing of view which can show overall environment. Visual Sharing focuses on providing interactive view sharing among remote participants. A user can see remote collaboration space from any direction and can share his working screen view with others. In this paper, we summarize the development plan of Visual Sharing and relevant elementary techniques for developing Visual Sharing.
