연마 로봇의 원격 관리를 위한 모니터링 시스템 개발 (Development of Monitoring System for Remote Management of Polishing Robot)

  • In the previous study, a polishing robot system was developed to automate the polishing process and to cope with the shortage of skilled workers. This polishing robot system has several advantages: reduced time for setting polishing work, decreased labor costs, effective operation, continuous polishing work without an operator, improved machine accuracy, and the ability to polish a free curved surface die. However, still the problem remains that a worker must stay to monitor the polishing process in the poor working conditions for a long time. Nowadays some advanced manufacturing companies need to find a way to check the performance of their production equipments and plants from remote sites. Thus, this study constructed the communication network and developed the monitoring programs (a servo program and a client program) to operate the polishing robot from remote sites. Using these programs, workers are able to monitor and control the polishing robot on the web page, in any place where internet service is possible. To guarantee a stable operation in spite of a variable computer operating environment, the monitoring system is implemented in Java. The experimental results showed that the developed monitoring programs provided a stable communication.

  • 스마트 워크 (스마트 오피스)를 위해서 가장 많은 사용하는 방법은 RDP 원격 데스크톱 접속을 이용하는 것이다. 사무원이 전용 사무실 공간이 없는 경우에 스마트 오피스는 매우 유용하다. 즉, 사무원은 인터넷 카페, 공개된 지역 등에서 인터넷을 이용하여 자신의 컴퓨터에 접속할 수 있다. 이를 이용하여 업무를 효율적으로 처리할 수 환경이 만들어진다. 본 논문에서는 RDP 원격 데스크톱 접속을 이용하여 스마트오피스를 설계 및 개발하고자 한다. 스마트워크를 사용함으로써 업무를 이동하면서 해야 하는 직원을 위해서 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

  • Polishing work of a free-curved surface die demands simple and repetitive operations but requires a considerable amount of time for high precision. In out previous study, to reduce the polishing time and solve the problem of the shortage of skilled workers, the automatic polishing system was developed. However, in the polishing process of die, workers have to stay still in factory to monitor the polishing process for a long time in the poor environment. Therefore, this study proposes the remote operation and monitoring system of the automatic polishing robot. The developing system offer worker monitoring functions and teleoperating functions, as following: system state check, manual manipulation mode, automatic mode, manual teaching mode, automatic teaching mode, simulation by virtual manufacturing device. And automatic teaching system is developed to easily obtain a teaching data.

The Retention Factors among Nurses in Rural and Remote Areas: Lessons from the Community Health Practitioners in South Korea

  • Purpose: This study analyzed the retention factors of Korean community health practitioners who sustained over 20 years based on a multi-dimensional framework. This study suggests global implications for nurses working in rural or remote areas, even during a worldwide pandemic. Methods: The participants were 16 Korean community health practitioners who worked in rural or remote locations for over 20 years. This study identified nurses' key retention factors contributing to long service in rural and remote areas. This is a qualitative study based on the narrative method and analysis was conducted using grounded theory. A semi-structured questionnaire was conducted based on the following: the life flow of the participants' first experience, episodes during the work experience, and reflections on the past 20 years. Results: First, personal 'financial needs' and 'callings' were motivation-related causal conditions. The adaptation of environment-work-community was the contextual condition leading to intervening conditions, building coping strategies by encountering a lifetime crisis. The consequences of 'transition' and 'maturation' naturally occurred with chronological changes. The unique factors were related to the 'external changes' in the Korean primary health system, which improved the participants' social status and welfare. Conclusion: Considering multi-dimensional retention factors was critical, including chronological (i.e., historical changes) and external factors (i.e., healthcare systems), to be supportive synchronously for rural nurses. Without this, the individuals working in the rural areas could be victimized by insecurity and self-commitment. Furthermore, considering the global pandemic, the retention of nurses is crucial to prevent the severity of isolation in rural and remote areas.

AUTOMATIC DETECTION OF OIL SPILLS WITH LEVEL SET SEGMENTATION TECHNIQUE FROM REMOTELY SENSED IMAGERY

  • The marine environment is under considerable threat from intentional or accidental oil spills, ballast water discharged, dredging and infilling for coastal development, and uncontrolled sewage and industrial wastewater discharges. Monitoring spills and illegal oil discharges is an important component in ensuring compliance with marine protection legislation and general protection of the coastal environments. For the monitoring task an image processing system is needed that can efficiently perform the detection and the tracking of oil spills and in this direction a significant amount of research work has taken place mainly with the use of radar (SAR) remote sensing data. In this paper the level set image segmentation technique was tested for the detection of oil spills. Level set allow the evolving curve to change topology (break and merge) and therefore boundaries of particularly intricate shapes can be extracted. Experimental results demonstrated that the level set segmentation can be used for the efficient detection and monitoring of oil spills, since the method coped with abrupt shape’s deformations and splits.

사족 보행로봇의 원격제어 구현 (The Implementation of Remote Control for a Quadruped Robot)

  • 본 논문은 네트웍을 이용하여 원격 제어가 가능한 사족보행로봇의 구현에 대하여 다루고 있다. 로봇이 평탄하지 않은 지면에서 작업하거나 인간 친화적인 요소를 부여하기 위해서는 인간이나 곤충과 같이 다리를 가지는 보행이 필수적이다. 제작된 사족 보행로봇은 장착된 센서와 구동부를 이용하여 기본적인 동작을 수행하는 동시에 유선알고리즘을 이용해 만들어진 진보된 걸음새를 가지고 있다. 또한 웹브라우저를 이용하여 로봇의 명령을 만들고 현재의 상태를 모니터링 하는 등의 원격 동작을 수행하기 위해 네트웍을 통해 제어를 수행할 수 있게 하였다. 본 논문에서는 제작된 로봇의 기구적인 해석 결과를 다루었고 해석된 결과를 모의 실험과 더불어 실제 구현하여 제시된 방법의 유용성을 제시하였다.

  • Mobile patrol robots are mainly used in aerospace and military engineering because they can work at dangerous environment replacing a man. This paper presents a study on the remote monitoring and control system of a mobile patrol robot platform using TCP/IP. The mobile robot consists of intel PXA270 and linux-based system. It can get environment information such as images, temperature, humidity and slope by using two cameras and various sensors. And it transmits information data to a monitoring system through the ad-hoc network which is one of wireless network solutions. At this time, a mobile robot is a server and a monitoring system is a client. Users can monitor environment information which is received from a mobile robot by an application based on PC. We have used TCP/IP protocol, socket programming, interface technique of process and devices and control algorithm to embody the mobile robot and its monitoring system. Experimental results shows that the system can be utilized as a remote patrol monitoring tool.

사용자 요구조도 만족 스마트 조명 관리시스템 (A Smart Lighting Management System with Satisfaction of User's Lighting Requirements)

  • In this paper, we proposed a smart lighting management system controls the lighting efficiently to reduce energy consumption while satisfying user's lighting requirements. The proposed system considers the available daylight intensity and indoor light source to satisfy the lighting requirements of each user according to the work environment. In addition, for user convenience, we have developed different user interfaces for lighting control including local interface, and remote interface through internet or Bluetooth for personal computer as well as smart phones. The proposed system satisfies the lighting requirements of each user according to the corresponding work environment. The proposed smart lighting management system utilizes the lighting energy efficiently, and can be considered a significant contribution towards future green buildings.

  • The robot is an effective means to perform repetitive tasks quickly and accurately. It could be more effective in dangerous environments where human is difficult to access. The construction site is a dangerous environment with a high possibility of industrial accidents where heavy work is frequently carried out at a high place. In particular, an accident in the construction site is highly likely to lead to a severe disaster. Of course, various technologies are being developed to monitor the safety of workers in construction sites and prevent accidents, but there is a limit to eliminate the risk of accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to make efforts to replace workers exposed to dangerous environments with equipment or robots that could be controlled remotely in a more active way. In this study, Remote Precise Installation System was proposed to replace the workers exposed to the risk of accident at a high place during the bridge construction. Also, the conceptual design and analytical reviews of this system were carried out. Suppose Remote Precise Installation System is developed according to the derived concept and the target performance. In that case, this system is expected to be applied as a technology that can effectively replace the workers at the bridge construction site.

An Open Standard-based Terrain Tile Production Chain for Geo-referenced Simulation

  • The needs for digital models of real environment such as 3D terrain or cyber city model are increasing. Most of applications related with modeling and simulation require virtual environment constructed from geospatial information of real world in order to guarantee reliability and accuracy of the simulation. The most fundamental data for building virtual environment, terrain elevation and orthogonal imagery is acquired from optical sensor of satellite or airplane. Providing interoperable and reusable digital model is important to promote practical application of high-resolution satellite imagery. This paper presents the new research regarding representation of geospatial information, especially for 3D shape and appearance of virtual terrain. and describe framework for constructing real-time 3D model of large terrain based on high-resolution satellite imagery. It provides infrastructure of 3D simulation with geographical context. Web architecture, XML language and open protocols to build a standard based 3D terrain are presented. Details of standard-based approach for providing infrastructure of real-time 3D simulation using high-resolution satellite imagery are also presented. This work would facilitate interchange and interoperability across diverse systems and be usable by governments, industry scientists and general public.
