  • In this paper, we propose a multicast routing scheme for an efficient and reliable support of multicast service to mobile hosts in IPv6 based networks. The purpose of this paper is to develop an algorithm to reduce both the number of multicast tree reconstruction and the multicast service disrupt time using the RSVP scheme. The proposed multicast routing scheme is a hybrid method using the advantages of the hi-directional tunneling and the remote subscription proposed by the IETF Mobile IP working group. The proposed scheme satisfies the maximum tolerable transfer delay time and supports the maximum tunneling service. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme has better performance in the number of multicast tree reconstruction and the time of multicast service disrupt than the previous schemes does.

  • In this paper we propose Clustered Group Multicast by Clustering Algorithm in Wireless Mobile Ad-hoc Network. The proposed scheme applies to Weighted Cluster Algorithm Ad-hoc network is a collection of wireless mobile hosts forming a temporary network without the aid of any centralized administration or reliable support services such as wired network and base station. In ad hoc network muting protocol because of limited bandwidth and high mobility robust, simple and energy consume minimal. WCGM method uses a base structure founded on combination weighted value and applies combination weight value to cluster header keeping data transmission by seeped flooding, which is the advantage of the exiting FGMP method. Because this method has safe and reliable data transmission, it shows the effect to decrease both overhead to preserve transmission structure and overhead for data transmission.

  • In this paper, we propose a reliable multicast scheme for the tactical wireless ad hoc network where the members share the situation and operation data. Our scheme consists of two phases to guarantee the reliability. During the dissemination phase, we utilizes an epidemic approach similar to gossip-based ad hoc routing. Then the group members interchange the message reception state information periodically so that they are able to recover missing packets from the other members. We evaluate the performance of our scheme through extensive simulations using the network simulator in comparison with other existing reliable multicast schemes in mobile ad hoc network. Our scheme shows higher packet delivery ratio regardless of the mobility and imposes much lower control overhead to the non-group members compared with the existing schemes.

Abstract As the size and the geographic span of communication groups increases, efficient data transmission schemes using Multicast service become more and more essential. Especially, unlike audio and video applications, for some collaborative applications and other data delivery components which require ordered and lossless delivery of data, Reliable Multicast Service is needed to ensure consistent presentation across multiple views. Thus error recovery by retransmission of loss data is provided in order to guarantee the reliability of multicast transmission protocol. However, redundant retransmission packets by multicast may cause traffic implosion on the Internet and it can be aggravated with continuous retransmission. This paper describes a Restricted Retransmission Mechanism as an error recovery method of multicast service in a local group, which can handle traffic implosion in retransmission process. It reduces redundant retransmission packets flowing into a local group and supports reliable multicast transmission. The goal of this mechanism is to reduce retransmission packets and decrease the load for group members and networks.

  • As services requesting data transfer from a sender to a multiple number of receivers become popular, efficient group communication mechanisms like multicast get much attention. Since multicast is more efficient than unicast in terms of bandwidth usage and group management for group communication, many multicast protocols providing scalability and reliability have been proposed. Recently, router-supported reliable multicast protocols have been proposed because routers have the knowledge of the physical multicast tree structure and, in this scheme, repliers which retransmit lost packets are selected by routers. Repliers are selected dynamically based on the network situation, therefore, any receiver within a multicast group can become a replier Hence, all receivers within a group maintains a buffer for loss recovery within which received packets are stored. It is an overhead for all group receivers to store unnecessary packets. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a new scheme which reduces resource usage by discarding packets unnecessary for loss recovery from the receiver buffer. Our scheme performs the replier selection and the loss recovery of lost packets based on the LSM [1] model, and discards unnecessary packets determined by ACKs from erasers which represent local groups.

  • We consider the problem of architecting a reliable content delivery system across an overlay network using TCP connections as the transport primitive. We first argue that natural designs based on store-and-forward principles that tightly couple TCP connections at intermediate end-systems impose fundamental performance limitations, such as dragging down all transfer rates in the system to the rate of the slowest receiver. In contrast, the ROMA architecture we propose incorporates the use of loosely coupled TCP connections together with fast forward error correction techniques to deliver a scalable solution that better accommodates a set of heterogeneous receivers. The methods we develop establish chains of TCP connections, whose expected performance we analyze through equation-based methods. We validate our analytical findings and evaluate the performance of our ROMA architecture using a prototype implementation via extensive Internet experimentation across the PlanetLab distributed testbed.

  • Multicast protocols are efficient methods of group communication, but they do not support the various transmission protocol services like a reliability guarantee, FTP, or Telnet that TCPs do. The purpose of this dissertation is to find a method to utilize sewer routers to form multicasts that can simultaneously transport multicast packets and TCP packets. For multicast network scalability and error recovery the existing SRM method has been used. Three packets per TCP transmission control window size are used for transport and an ACK is used for flow control. A CBR and a SRM is used for UDP traffic control. Divided on whether a UDP multicast packet and TCP unicast packet is used simultaneously or only a UDP multicast packet transport is used, the multicast receiver with the longest delay is measured on the number of packets and its data receiving rate. It can be seen that the UDP packet and the TCP's IP packet can be simultaneously used in a server router.
