The unsteady heat release characteristics play a significant role in combustion instabilities observed in low emissions gas turbine combustors. Such combustion instabilities are often caused by coupling mechanisms between unsteady heat release rates and acoustic perturbations. A generalized model of the turbulent flame response to acoustic perturbations is analytically formulated by considering a distributed heat release along a curved mean flame front and using the flame's kinematic model that incorporates the turbulent flame development. The effects of the development of flame speed on the flame transfer functions are examined by calculating the transfer functions with a constant or developing flame speed. The flame transfer function due to velocity fluctuation shows that, when a developing flame speed is used, the transfer function magnitude decreases faster with Strouhal number than the results with a constant flame speed at low Strouhal numbers. The flame transfer function due to mixture ratio fluctuation, however, exhibits the opposite results: the transfer function magnitude with a developing flame speed increases faster than that with a constant flame speed at low Strouhal numbers. Oscillatory behaviors of both transfer function magnitudes are shown to be damped when a developing flame speed is used. Both transfer functions also show similar behaviors in the phase characteristics: The phases of both transfer functions with a developing flame speed increase more rapidly than those with a constant flame speed.
The purpose of this study was to provide quantified data on the throwing skills of world-class athletes and to analyze the kinematic variables for women shot-putters at the IAAF World Championships Daegu 2011. Three-dimensional motion analyses of the eight players who qualified for the final round were carried out to obtain the data. The Kwon3D XP program was used for image analysis of the kinematic data, which included the configurations of each joint. The following conclusions were arrived at. The throwing distance increased with an increase in the release speed, and a significant correlation (p <. 01) was observed between the throwing distance and release speed. It was also shown that players using the spin technique increased their release speed with a fast shoulder-rotation-angle speed. The release height varied with their height and showed a significant difference with the record. This showed that the release angle did not greatly influence the record for the game, but varied with their technical and physical characteristics. Therefore, an increase in release speed is required to improve the record.
The effect of parameters on the consequence of the flash fire accident by the release of heavy gas(in this study, xylene vapor) was analyzed. Simulation results showed that the distance with the lower flammable limit($X_{LFL}$) was increased with the increase of the release hole diameter. For the case of the elevated release, $X_{LFL}$ was increased with the increase of the wind speed and the release height, but $X_{LFL}$ was not affected by the wind speed for the release on the ground level. Therefore, the accident in the elevated release was more dangerous than the release on the ground level. In this condition, the release height had more effect on $X_{LFL}$ at the night time than the daytime and in the urban area than the rural area.

Nowadays, the problems of energy and environmental pollution become serious day by day and the diesel engine, which has been proved to be superior to gasoline engine with respect to fuel consumption and ecological problems of exhaust gas, has been adopted widely for various purposes from the marine diesel engine and the dynamo engine to all kinds of engine on land. Therefore, extensive parametric studies on combustion of diesel engine should be done for its desing and improvement. To predict the behavior of diesel engien according to variable operating conditions by means of cycle simulation, the reasonable pattern of heat release rate has to be asumed. But it is necessary to know the actual variation of heat release rate in order to assume the reasonable pattern of heat release rate according to the actual operating conditions. In this paper, on a high speed small bore diesel engine with pre-combustion chamber, experimental investigations were carried out to determine the relationship between the heat release pattern and parameters such as engine load and speed. And also, the theoretical investigations about the performance variations of the above diesel engine according to the predicted pattern of heat release rate variation were performed. From the above observations, it may be said that the Fanboro indicator, which was used to get the cylinder pressure, can be used to estimate a reasonable pattern of heat release rate and it is confirmed that the pattern of heat release rate for the pre-combustion type engine is different from that of the direct injection type engine.

In atrial myocytes, lacking t-tubules, $Ca^{2+}$ current ($I_{Ca}$)-initiated $Ca^{2+}$ release at the peripheral junctional sites propagates into the interior of the cell by diffusion of $Ca^{2+}$. We have previously reported that time of activation of the central sites is independent of $I_{Ca}$. In the present study we have probed the effects of Bay K 8644 on $Ca^{2+}$ propagation wave to the center of the myocyte using rapid 2-D confocal $Ca^{2+}$ imaging in the rat atrial myocytes. Enhancement of $I_{Ca}$ by Bay K 8644 accelerated the rate of peripheral $Ca^{2+}$ release, but did not affect the speed of propagation of central release. In contrast, enhancement of $I_{Ca}$ by intracellular cAMP reduced the magnitude of peripheral and central $Ca^{2+}$ transients, but significantly accelerated the speed of central $Ca^{2+}$ release. Our data suggest that the speed of central $Ca^{2+}$ propagation triggered by $I_{Ca}$ is not regulated by the magnitude of either $I_{Ca}$ or local cytosolic $Ca^{2+}$ releases.
In order to propose the method of the consequence analysis for fire accidents by the heavy gas release and to obtain optimum conditions of parameter selections, the consequence analysis for jet fire by the accident of xylene vapor release were performed. And the effect and the sensitivity analysis of parameters affecting the consequence were investigated. Simulation results showed that important parameters affecting results of the xylene vapor release accident were mainly hole diameter, interested distance, wind speed, and so on. For the jet fire, the accident result and the sensitivity of thermal radiation were increased with the decrease of interested distance and the increase of hole diameters, and the accidental result was increased as the increase wind speed, but the sensitivity of thermal radiation was decreased.
Conventional views of synaptic transmission generally overlook the possibility of 'postfusional-control' the regulation of the speed or completeness of transmitter release upon vesicular fusion. However, such regulation often occurs in non-neuronal cells where the dynamics of fusion-pore opening is critical for the speed of transmitter release. In case of synapses, the slower the transmitter release, the smaller the size and rate-of-rise of postsynaptic responses would be expected if postsynaptic neurotransmitter receptors were not saturated. This prediction was tested at hippocampal synapses where postsynaptic AMPA-type glutamate receptors (AMPAR) were not generally saturated. Here, we found that the small miniature excitatory postsynaptic currents (mEPSCs) showed significantly slower rise times than the large mEPSCs when the sucrose-induced mEPSCs recorded in cyclothiazide (CTZ), a blocker for AMPAR desensitization, were sorted by size. The slow rise time of the small mEPSCs might result from slow release through a non-expanding fusion pore, consistent with postfusional control of neurotransmitter release at central synapses.
The objective of this study was to confirm the effect of the type of dissolution media and paddle speed on nifedipine (ND) release profile from osmotic granule and the storage stability. Osmotic granule was manufactured by fluidized bed coating method. At each coating step, morphology of osmotic granule was differed. The size of osmotic granule was $750\;{\mu}m$ at 3 wt% membrane thickness. ND release was changed in diverse dissolution media, paddle speed. ND release is governed by not only osmotic pressure but diffusion from osmotic granule. ND release from osmotic granule decreased as storage period increased. These may be caused by liquid excipient which has low molecular weight. Storage stability of osmotic granule could be improved by removing liquid excipient from semipermeable membrane.
Heat release analysis is a very important method for understanding the combustion phenomena inside an engine cylinder. In this study, one-zone heat release analysis was used with the measured cylinder pressures of a HSDI(high speed direct injection) and IDI(indirect injection) diesel engines, Those have benefits of simple equation, fast speed, reliability. The objective of the study is to compare the combustion characteristics between a HSDI and an IDI. The result shoes that the maximum heat release rate of a HSDI is higher than that of an IDI because of long ignition delay period. The heat release curve of an IDI is more linear than that of a HSDI, thus is similiar to that of a SI engine. The combustion efficiency of a HSDI is higher than that of an IDI because of the smaller heat transfer loss of a HSDI. There is a suggestion here that an IDI engine has broad heat transfer area which include two combustion chambers, the connection passage of combustion chambers, etc.
