We examined the nutritive value of common grass species in the semi-arid rangelands of Borana in southern Ethiopia using local experience based herbage preference (LEBHP) perception and laboratory techniques. Local pastoralists in the study area were asked to identify common grass species and rank them according to the species' preferences and palatability to cattle. The pastoralists listed a total of 15 common grass species which were then sampled during the main rain and cold dry seasons and analyzed for crude protein (CP), Neutral Detergent Fiber (NDF), Acid Detergent Fiber (ADF) and ash content to verify pastoralists' claim regarding the quality of individual species. The relative feed value (RFV) and dry matter digestibility (DMD) were also calculated using NDF and ADF contents. Spearman's rank correlation was used to examine possible relationships between laboratory results and pastoralists' experience on grass quality. Cenchrus ciliaris, Chrysopogon aucheri, Digitaria milanjiana, Eragrostis papposa and Panicum maximum were the top five species based on LEBHP perception. There were indications of inconsistency in terms of LEBHP perception among the different pastoral communities. The chemical composition of all grass species showed significant (p<0.05) variation between sites, seasons and species. The results showed that the CP values for the Borana rangelands were in the range of 8.7% in the main rain season to 5.1% for the cold dry season. The fiber constituents were relatively low in the main rain season compared to the cold dry season. Overall, Digitaria milanjiana had the highest CP (16.5%) content, while the least was recorded with Heteropogon contortus (10.8) and Aristida adoensis (9.8%) during the main rain season. It seems that the spatial variability of landscapes within the wider geographical regions, soil properties and texture, and land-use patterns probably contributed to site differences in species quality. Generally, the RFV of individual grass species was significantly (p<0.05) varied between and within sites. The ranking of species by pastoralists according to their preferences by cattle was highly correlated with the chemical composition of laboratory results of individual grass species with 'r' values for CP (0.94), ash (0.95), NDF (-0.98), ADF (-0.93) and ADL (-0.93). We suggest the complimentary use of LEBHP and laboratory techniques in evaluating the nutritive quality of rangeland forage species for sustainable animal production.

The application of one-dimensional projection to each image enables to obtain shape or spatial information of image. This paper proposes a method that uses relative distances between peaks and their maximum value in the projection vector. In order to verify retrieval performance, the experimental results between the histogram intersection method, the projection only method. and the proposed one are compared and analyzed.

This study was attempted to investigate the pharmacokinetics of theophylline(4mg/kg) in the rabbits of carbon tetrachloride induced hepatic Cailure, The plasma concentration and relative bioavailability of theophylline were increased significantly in hepatic railure rabbits compared with those of normal rabbits. There was significant relationship between SGOT value and bioavailability parameters of theophylline. From the results of this experiments, dosage regimen of theophylline is considered to be adjusted in dose size and dosing interval using SGOT values.

Purpose： To obtain normative human skeletal muscle data and evaluate quantitative diffusion-ten anisotropy information using diffusion-tensor imaging technique. Method： Quantitative extremity muscle diffusion tensor MR images were obtained in 5 healt adults by using turbo STEAM sequence and a combination of tetrahedral and orthogon diffusion gradients. Relative anisotropy(RA) and fractional anisotropy(FA) values we measured in soleus and gastrocnemius muscle in addition to mean ADC value.

The purpose of research is to measure power and dynamic resistance value through RMS module. Specially designed RMS-DC hardware module was tested. Its output which is obtained every half cycle was compared with that of commercial weld checker. The results show good agreement and the relative error in the measurement was found to be around 5%.

Optimal values of $\alpha$ characterizing the linear dispersion property in the modified Boussinesq equations are determined by minimizing the combined relative errors of the phase and group velocities. The value of $\alpha$ is fixed in previous studies, whereas it is varying in the present study. The phase and group velocities are calculated by using variable $\alpha$ and compared to those of the linear Stokes wave theory and previous studies. It is found that the present study produces the best match to the linear Stokes theory.

The pharmacokinetics of propranolol administered orally (10 me/kg) was investgated in the rabbits of carbon tetrachloride induced hepatic failure. The plasma concentration and relative bioavailability of propranolol were increased significantly in hepatic failure rabbits, compared with those of normal rabbits. There were significant relationship between GOT, GPT value and bioavailability parameters of propranolol. In short, dosage regimen of propranolol is considered to be adjusted in dose size and dosing interval using GOT or GPT an index.

A series of poly(1,4-phenylene terephthalates) with pendant NLO chromophores was prepared by the solution polycondensation of 2,5-NLO chromophore substituted terephthalic acid with hydroquinone. The polymers obtained gave satisfactory NMR and elemental analysis results when taking into account their expected structures and the inherent viscosity value proved the polymeric character of all polymers. DSC, optical polarizing microscopy and WAXS studies revealed that none of these polymers exhibited liquid crystalline mesophases. Preliminary results on NLO properties of these polymers showed a surprisingly large second harmonic signal relative to a Y-cut quartz plate.

A series of the para-substituted 7-aryl-norbornadienyl cation (3) was prepared in FSO3H/SO2ClF solution at -100℃ and their 13C NMR shifts were measured at -80℃. The plots of the chemical shifts (changes in chemical shifts) of cationic carbon, ΔδC+, aganist our calculated new substituent constant, σc+s, gave an excellent correlation (r=0.994), with a ρc+ value of 12.63. These results indicate that the new substituent constants, σc+s, can be successfully employed to compare the relative charge demand of the carbonium ion by π-and πσ-participation.
