Microlens Fabrication by Using Excimer Laser (엑사이머 레이저를 이용한 마이크로렌즈 제작)

  • A new microlens fabrication technique, the excimer laser lithography is developed. This bases on the pulsed laser irradiation and the transfer of a chromium-on-quartz reticle on to the polymer surface with a proper projection optics system. An excimer laser lithography system with 1/4 and 1/20 demagnification ratios was constructed first, and the photoablation characteristics of the PMMA and Polyimide were experimentally examined using this system. For two different shapes of microlenses, a spherical lens and a cylindrical lens, fabrication techniques were investigated. One for the spherical lens is a combination of the mask pattern projection and fraction effect. The other for the cylindrical lens is a combination of the mask pattern projection and the relative movement of a specimen. The result shows that various shapes of micro optical components can be easily fabricated by the excimer laser lithography.

A Measurement Apparatus of Lateral Restoring Force Exerted on Electrostatically Suspended Object (정전부상체에 작용하는 횡방향 복원력 측정장치)

  • In electrostatic suspension system of thin plates like a silicon wafer or an aluminum disk for hard disk applications, the lateral restoring force exerted on a suspended object plays an important role since the lateral motion of the suspended object, owing to the inherently stable restoring forces, can be passively stabilized without any active control of it. This paper reports about the measurement apparatus of the lateral restoring force originating from a relative translation of the suspended object with respect to the electrodes-for-suspension. An approximate calculation of the lateral force in disk-shaped objects, the structure of the measurement apparatus, a measurement method, stabilization condition and the guideline in designing the measurement apparatus are described. Experimental results obtained by using a 3.5-inch aluminum disk as a suspended object are presented as well in order to assess the magnitude of lateral force and stiffness, and also verify the usefulness of the measurement apparatus.

  • It is necessary to calibrate measurement systems to enhance its measurement accuracy. The visual sensing system that is presented in our previous work has to be calibrated, too. It is a multiple mirror system for three-dimensional measurement, which is composed of a camera and a series of mirrors. It is important to calibrate the positions and orientations of the mirrors relative to the camera because they have direct influence on the relationship between the image plane and the task space. This paper presents the calibration method for the visual sensing system. To confirm the measurement performance of the implemented system. its measurement accuracy in measuring the locations in three-dimensional space is investigated. A series of experiments for measuring the locations of the circle-shaped marks are performed. Experimental results show that the sensing system can be effectively used for three-dimensional measurement.

Conducting Crack Growth Behavior in Ferroelectrics Subjected to Electric Fields (전기장을 받는 강유전체 내의 전도균열 성장거동)

  • The asymptotic problem of a semi-infinite conducting crack parallel to the poling direction in ferroelectric ceramics subjected to electric fields is analyzed. The main mechanism for the conducting crack growth behavior is thought to be ferroelectric domain switching leading to the development of a process zone around the crack. The shape and size of the switching zone is shown to depend strongly on the relative magnitude on the ratio of the coercive electric field to the yield electric field. It is shown that the crack growth can be either enhanced or retarded depending on the ratio of the coercive electric field to yield electric field.

  • In this paper, the tube forming by radial-forward extrusion is analyzed by numerical simulation and experiments. The paper discusses the effects of process variables such as gap height, relative gap width and die corner radius on tube forming. The influence of deformation patterns of flange in radial extrusion on forward extrusion for tube forming is investigated and summarized in terms of the maximum forming force and hardness variations along the extrusion path. Furthermore the external defects are shown experimentally during the forming operation. Based on finite element analysis in conjunction with experimental test in Al alloy, analysis is performed for important parameter combination in order to reduce forming defects. Eventually, the process parameters for safe forming are suggested in order to reduce the forming defects.

  • A simple and cost-effective method for the electrostatic suspension of thin plates like silicon wafers is proposed which is based on a switched voltage control scheme. It operates according to a relay feedback control and deploys only a single high-voltage power supply that can deliver a DC voltage of positive and/or negative polarity. This method possesses the unique feature that no high-voltage amplifiers are needed which leads to a remarkable system simplification relative to conventional methods. It is shown that despite the inherent limit cycle property of the relay feedback based control, an excellent performance in vibration suppression is attained due to the presence of a relatively large squeeze film damping origination from the air between the electrodes and levitated object. Using this scheme, a 4-inch silicon wafer was levitated stably with airgap variation decreasing down to $1 {\mu}m$ at an airgap of $100{\mu}m$.

  • Mostly a ride comfort and handling performance of vehicle is influenced by dynamic behavior control of vehicle. We are focusing on development of a semi-intelligent suspension system with continuously variable damper(HS-SH type). only using absolute velocity of sprung mass without using the relative velocity besides having lower system prices and a little energy requirement. In this paper, the system is realized in consideration to control strategy (sky-hook control, hybrid filter, etc.) and has been proved to have improvement of behavior control of vehicle by quarter car and Vehicle test, respectively.

Simultaneous HPLC Determination of Preservatives in Cosmetics (화장품중 살균ㆍ보존제의 동시분리 및 정량)

  • A high-performance liquid chromatographic method for the simultaneous quantitative analysis of methylparaben (MP), ethylparaben (EP), propylparaben (PP), butylparaben (BP) and imidazolidinyl urea(IU) or diazolidinyl urea(DU) in cosmetics was studied by using a cyano-propyl column and 0.05M hexanesulfonic acid at 228 nm. Calibration curves were found to be linear in the 60-1000 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL range (parabens), 100-1,250 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL range (IU) and the 120-2000 $\mu\textrm{g}$/mL range (DU). Linear regression analysis of the data demonstrates the efficacy of the method in terms of precision and accuracy. An extraction method is developed and validated in order to apply this chromatographic method to a commercial cosmetic cream. The precision of this method, calculated as the relative standard deviation (RSD) of the recoveries (0.46-2.71%) was excellent for all compounds.

  • Laser-assisted machining uses primarily laser power to heat the local area before the material is removed. It not only efficiently reduces the cutting force during the manufacturing process but also improves the machining characteristics and accuracy with regard to difficult-to-machine materials. The prediction of relative deformations between the cutting tool and workpiece is important to improve the accuracy of machined components. This paper presents the deformation errors caused for a cylindrical workpiece by thermal effects in the laser-assisted machine tool using finite element method. The results can be used to increase the cutting accuracy by compensating thermal distortion prior to laser-assisted machining.

The General Analysis of an Active Stereo Vision with Hand-Eye Calibration (핸드-아이 보정과 능동 스테레오 비젼의 일반적 해석)

  • The analysis of relative pose(position and rotation) between stereo cameras is very important to determine the solution that provides three-dimensional information for an arbitrary moving target with respect to robot-end. In the space of free camera-model, the rotational parameters act on non-linear factors acquiring a kinematical solution. In this paper the general solution of active stereo that gives a three-dimensional pose of moving object is presented. The focus is to achieve a derivation of linear equation between a robot′s end and active stereo cameras. The equation is consistently derived from the vector of quaternion space. The calibration of cameras is also derived in this space. Computer simulation and the results of error-sensitivity demonstrate the successful operation of the solution. The suggested solution can also be applied to the more complex real time tracking and quite general and are applicable in various stereo fields.
