Wind energy has been more and more important and contributive in the energy utilization of the world. This paper proposed a novel method for Wind Energy Conversion System (WECS), in which a secondary control hydrostatic transmission (SC-HST) with two hydraulic accumulators, were employed for wind energy conversion system. This approach can absorb the excessive power of turbine, keep the generator from over-speed and maintain the speed of generator in low speed of turbine. A PID controller was designed for speed control to track a predefined speed. The simulation results indicated that the speed of the generator was ensured with the relative error less than 2%; and the efficiency of the proposed system was 70.4%.
In this paper, we consider wireless sensor networks with hard energy constraint, where each node is powered by a small battery. Under this hard constraint, reducing energy consumption is the most important design consideration for wireless sensor networks. Energy saving and control is an important issue, involved in the design of most sensor nodes. In this context, we focus on physical layer design where energy constraint problem can be modeled as an optimization of transmission modulation scheme[1]. Specifically, our analyses are based on energy control schemes that are relative to physical layer design on upper bound SEP MPSK in AWGN channels.
The gas phase structures, energetics, and interconversion pathways of five lowest energy conformers of acetylcholine were examined employing the B3LYP, MP2, and CCSD(T) methods in conjunction with diverse basis sets including the correlation consistent aug-cc-pVDZ and aug-cc-pVTZ basis sets. It is found that use of adequate basis set containing proper polarization and diffuse functions capable of describing the floppy potential energy surface of acetylcholine is important in correctly predicting the relative stability of these conformers. The interconversion pathways and barrier heights between these conformers were elucidated by examining the potential energy surface for torsional motion, which also manifested the presence of chiral conformations of acetylcholine corresponding to the original conformations. On the basis of high level electronic energy calculations and thermal contribution analysis, four lowest energy conformers appear to be populated in the energy range of less than 1 kcal/mol at room temperature.
The fundamental parameters controlling ink-jet printing liquids are the viscosity and surface energy. The wetting contact angle determines the spread of a liquid drop on the surface and depends on the relative surface energy. The characteristics of silver ink-jet printing were studied with control of surface energy and head temperature. Polyethylene terephthalate(PET) film and Si-wafer(ptype) were used as substrates and atmospheric plasma was treated to control the surface energy. With silver ink, the hydrophilic surface treatment could reduce the radius of droplets due to the hydrophobic nature of silver ink.
In this paper, seismic energy response of inelastic steel structures under earthquake excitations is investigated. For this purpose, a numerical procedure based on nonlinear dynamic analysis is developed by considering material, geometric and connection nonlinearities. Material nonlinearity is modeled by the inversion of Ramberg-Osgood equation. Nonlinearity caused by the interaction between the axial force and bending moment is also defined considering stability functions, while the geometric nonlinearity caused by axial forces is described using geometric stiffness matrix. Cyclic behaviour of steel connections is taken into account by employing independent hardening model. Dynamic equation of motion is solved by Newmark's constant acceleration method in the time history domain. Energy response analysis of space frames is performed by using this proposed numerical method. Finally, for the first time, the distribution of the different energy types versus time at the duration of the earthquake ground motion is obtained where in addition error analysis for the numerical solutions is carried out and plotted depending on the relative error calculated as a function of energy balance versus time.
To investigate alleviation effects of salt stress by low dose gamma-irradiation on seedling growth of rice (Oryza shrive L), in plants of two rice cultivars (Ilpumbyeo and Gancheokbyeo), seeds were irradiated with the different doses $(0{\sim}32\;Gy)$ of gamma-ray by irradiator ($^{60}Co$, ca.150 TBq of capacity, AECL). The salt stress caused a remarkable decrease of seedling growth, particularly for dry weight. In addition, relative growth rate was decreased over 50% by the salt stress. However, the salt stress-induced inhibition of growth was alleviated by gamma-irradiation. Especially, the relative growth rate of shoot showed the reduction effect over 30% at 4 Gy-irradiated groups as compared with that of control. Also, electrolyte leakage and relative water content were damaged, respectively 4 times and 30% by the salt stress but the damages were alleviated by the gamma-irradiation. These alleviation effects were observed similarly in both the cultivars tested. These results suggest that the low dose gamma-irradiation may have a better protection or the salt stress.

Background: Radon contributing about 42% of annual average dose, mainly comes from soil. In this paper, standard measurement procedures for soil radon exhalation rate are suggested and their measurement uncertainties are analyzed. Materials and Methods: We used accumulation method for estimating surface exhalation rate. The closed-loop measurement system was made up with a RAD7 detector and a surface chamber. Radon activity concentrations in the system were observed as a function of time, with data collection of 5 and 15-minute and the measurement time of 4 hours. Linear and exponential fittings were used to obtain radon exhalation rates from observed data. Standard deviations of measurement uncertainties for two approaches were estimated using usual propagation rules. Results and Discussion: The exhalation rates (E) from linear approach, with 30 minutes measurement time were $44.8-48.6mBq{\cdot}m^{-2} {\cdot}s^{-1}$ or $2.14-2.32atom{\cdot}cm^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ with relative measurement uncertainty of about 10%. The contributions of fitting parameter A, volume (V) and surface (S) to the estimated measurement uncertainty of E were 59.8%, 30.1% and 10.1%, in average respectively. In exponential fitting, at 3-hour measurement we had E ranged of $51.6-69.2mBq{\cdot}m^{-2} {\cdot}s^{-1}$ or $2.46-3.30atom{\cdot}cm^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ with about 15% relative uncertainty. Fitting with 4-hour measurement resulted E about $51.3-68.2mBq{\cdot}m^{-2} {\cdot}s^{-1}$ or $2.45-3.25atom{\cdot}cm^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ with 10% relative uncertainty. The uncertainty contributions in exponential approach were 75.1%, 13.4%, 8.7%, and 2.9% for total decay constant k, fitting parameter B, V, and S, respectively. Conclusion: In obtaining exhalation rates, the linear approach is easy to apply, but by saturation feature of radon concentrations, the slope tends to decrease away from the expected slope for extended measurement time. For linear approach, measurement time of 1-hour or less was suggested. For exponential approach, the obtained exhalation rates showed similar values for any measurement time, but measurement time of 3-hour or more was suggested for about 10% relative uncertainty.
The pairwise energy model (PEM) assumes that the cross section for the reaction cross section for the reaction A+BC$\{leftrightarrow}$B+C, where B and C are isotopes of hydrogen, depends on only the pairwise relative energy Es between A and B. Until now, the PEM has been used to interpret theoretically the isotope effect for the reactions such as $O(^3P)+HD,\;Ar^++(H_2,\;D_2,and\;HD)$. In this paper we carry out extensive quasiclassical trajectory calculations for the three possible reactions $Cl+H_2$ and HD and show that the PEM works very well at high energy. In particular we are able to accurately predict the intramolecular isotope effect at high energy for the reaction of Cl+HD using only the cross section data for $Cl+H_2$. To understand that the PEM works so well at high energy, the internal energy distributions for the products are examined. The distributions for three reactions are different at a fixed relative collision energy E but are approximately same at a fixed pairwise energy Es. This suggests that the PEM works very well at high energy. We believe the conclusions reached here will apply to other A+BC systems.
The purpose of this study was to find out the difference of radiation dose value through energy, exposure number, fluoroscopy time, the number of days of exposed scatter X-ray when TLD and OSLD is used in diagnostic radiology. The difference of value were measured by relative ratio and interval. Energy makes high relative ratio of TLD($1.81{\pm}0.41$) than OSLD($1.40{\pm}0.26$), exposure number makes high of OSLD($1.40{\pm}0.26$) than TLD($2.10{\pm}0.10$). There are no significant differences between relative ratio of TLD and OSLD in fluoroscopy time and the number of days of exposed scatter X-ray. But interval of relative ratio in the number of days of exposed scatter X-ray was narrowed in less 0.2. That means, the measurement of scatter X-ray could more confident in TLD and OSLD than the measurement of direct ray. In conclusion, we have to recognize the relative ratio of TLD and OSLD could be vary depending on exposed condition of radiation. And in some cases, double test of TLD and OSLD get more creditable results of dose value.
This study aimed to compare acoustic measurements by the high, middle, and low laryngeal heights of male musical theater students. Furthermore, the correlation between the relative height of the larynx and the acoustic measurements was examined, along with the predictability of the relative height (vertical position) of the larynx from acoustic measurements. The participants included five male students majoring in musical theater singing, and acoustic analysis was performed by having them produce the /a/ vowel 10 times each at the laryngeal positions of high, middle, and low. The relative vertical positions of the laryngeal prominence in each position were measured based on the resting position. Results indicated that the relative position of the larynx varied significantly according to laryngeal height, such that as the larynx descended, the first three formant frequencies decreased while the spectral energy at the same frequencies increased. Formant frequencies showed a weak to moderate positive correlation with the relative height of the larynx, while the spectral energy showed a moderate negative correlation. The relative height of the larynx was predicted by eight acoustic measures (adjusted R2 = .829). In conclusion, the predictability of the relative height of the larynx was partially confirmed in a non-invasive manner.
