  • In this paper, we present a stepwise design methodology for relational databases using a new conceptual data model, the MAO(Multiple Aspects-based Object) model. Our methodology consists two steps : first, data requirements are conceptualized using the MAO model with concepts such as objects types and aspect types : second, the MAO model is transformed into the third normal form inn the relational model supported by commercial DBMs. A top-down approach is used for the MAO modelling in the first, step, and the transformation process in the second step can be automated. Our methodology supports easier and more database design of real world than other methodologies using existing data models.

  • This paper presents the design and implementaion of an object-relational geographic information system. This system has been developed on top of a commercial object-relational database management system. It provides flexible spatial data model, spatial query language, visual user interface, and efficient spatial access methods(D0T) in which traditional primary-key access methods can be applied. We report on our design choices and describe the current status of Implementation. The conceptual model of the system is based on SDTS, and is mapped to the intemal obiect-oriented data model. Kevwords : object-oriented data model, GIS, spatial data model, spatial access method.

  • In structural analysis using FEM or BEM, pre_ and post_processor is necessary pre_ and post_processor and analyzer use same structural model. But many other tasks related to structural design, such as optimization, design of layout, etc, do not share that model in spite of their resemblance of requiring data. So, a pre_ and post_ processor was developed using a relational database managing system. Developed system uses the DBMS as a data storage and interacts with it using SQL interface. In this way, many other tasks that uses same structural data can be developed.

  • Organizations design and operate business process models to achieve their goals efficiently and systematically. With the advancement of IT technology, the number of items that computer systems can participate in and the process becomes huge and complicated. This phenomenon created a more complex and subdivide flow of business process. The process instances that contain workcase and events are larger and have more data. This is an essential resource for process mining and is used directly in model discovery, analysis, and improvement of processes. This event log is getting bigger and broader, which leads to problems such as capacity management and I / O load in management of existing row level program or management through a relational database. In this paper, as the event log becomes big data, we have found the problem of management limit based on the existing original file or relational database. Design and apply schemes to archive and analyze large event logs through Hadoop, an open source distributed file system, and HBase, a NoSQL database system.

  • This paper proposes a new implementational model based on the security model of Oracle for Web ontology. Recently, several access control models using relational database security model for access control to Web ontology have been developing, and one of the most representative access control model is the RAC model. However, the RAC model is based on the standard security model, and thus it does not provide a implementational model for practical relational database management systems. In this paper, we propose an implementational model based on Oracle which is widely used and providing various security policies. This paper shows the implementation and experimental evaluation. Especially, the proposed model uses the VPD security model of Oracle and support high application and usability.

  • Purpose: Radiation oncology information systems (ROIS) have evolved toward connecting and integrating information between radiation treatment procedures. ROIS can play an important role in utilizing modern radiotherapy techniques that have high complexity and require a large amount of information. Methods: Using AccessTM software, we have developed a relational database that is highly optimized for a radiotherapeutic workflow. Results: The prescription table was chosen as the core table to which the other tables were connected, and three types of forms-charts, worklists, and calendars- were suggested. A fast and reliable channel for delivering orders and remarks according to changes in the situation was also designed. Conclusions: We expect our ROIS design to inspire those who need to develop and manage an individual ROIS suitable for their radiation oncology departments at a low cost.

  • Databases are critical to business information systems, and RDBMS is most widely used for the database system. Normalization has been designed to control various anomalies(insert, update, and delete anomalies). However, normalized database design does not account for the tradeoffs necessary for the performance. In this research, we develop a model for database design by denormalization of duplicating attributes in order to reduce frequent join processes. In this mood, we consider insert, update, delete, and query costs. The anomaly and data inconsistency are removed by additional disk I/O which is necessary for each update and insert transaction. We propose a branch and bound method for this model, and show considerable cost reduction.

  • In this paper, a conceptual data model, called the UDM(Unified Data Model), to efficiently represent database structures related with object technology and complex structured data, is proposed. This model integrates major features of modern data models, such as E-R model, Semantic Object Model, and UML, especially from the viewpoint of database design. This model is basically a simplified, but extended version of the Object-Relationship Model, which was proposed to model complex structures of temporal-spatial multimedia data. This model incorporates some of the important semantic and structural information of modern database applications and it is designed to support all of the major logical database models, including relational, object-relational, object-oriented, and (semi-)structured databases. A special diagrammatic technique, called the UDD(Unified Data Diagram), is introduced as a tool for database design. Also, possible ways to derive logical views of data from this unified data model are presented. The proposed model can be utilized as a convenient and practical tool for conceptual database designs.

  • In order to design an extended relational database management system supporting multilevel security, the standard relational data model is extended and new relational integrity constrains are proposed for the model. The extended relational model and proposed multilevel integrity constraniants maintain database in consistent state and produce a basis that can eliminat eambiguity of entity and relation ship representations bypoly instantiation. The proposed up dates emantics canincreases the efficiency of up date operations by supporting multilevel entry and up dates. The semantics also provides a basis for the implementation of decomposition of extended relations.

  • This paper describes the implementation process of Virtual Modeling system for a customer-oriented product. The human sense is measured and analyzed by physical design factors and can be applied also for the product design. The first step implementing virtual modeling is to make a human sensibility("Kansei") database. Human sensibility database is constructed with the relational data of Kansei words and design factors. The next step is extraction the design information from the human sensibility database by fuzzy inference algorithm. This design information is used for the input data for the graphic database. Virtual implementation software compounds 3D shape of product. The final product can be modified according to the customer's requirement.quirement.
