Rocks undergo weathering processes influenced by changing in pressure-temperature condition, atmosphere, underground water, and rainfall. The weathering processes change physical and chemical characteristics of the rocks. Once the rocks are weathered, the characteristics of them are changed and, because of the changing, several disadvantages such as rock slope failures and underground water spouts are can occur. Before we cut a large rock slope, therefore, we must analyze current weathering conditions of rocks and predict weathering processes in the future. Through the results of such analyses, we can judge reinforcement works. In order to comply with such requests, chemical weathering sensitivity analysis which was analyzed from chemical weathering velocities and other characteristics of rocks has been applied in several prior construction works in Korea. But, It is defective to use directly in engineering fields because it was developed for soils(not rocks), it has too mny factors must be considered and the relationships between the factors are not clear, and it is hard to explain the weathering processes in engineering time range. Besides above, because it has been used for isotropic rocks, this method is hard to apply to anisotropic rocks such as sedimentary rocks. Acceding to studies from morphologists (e.g. Oguchi et al., 1994; Sunamura, 1996; Norwick and Dexter, 2002), time dependent strength reduction influenced by weathering shows a negative exponential function form. Appling this relation, one can synthesize the factors which influence the weathering processes to the strength reduction, and get meaningful estimates in engineering viewpoint. We suggest this weathering sensitivity characterization method as a technique that can explain time dependent weathering sensitivity characteristics through strength changes and can directly applied the rock slope design.

The purpose of this study was to investigate to relation of necessity and practice of contents of clothing and textiles education(classify them into four units, choice and dressing of clothes, textile and management of clothes, design and sewing of clothes, knitting and embroidery). Method of posing a questionnaire is adopted to obtain stochastic data required for pertinent analysis. This is the investigation of which 400 (high school students 204, university students 196) girl students located in Choongnam and Junrabookdo province. In this statistical analysis, SPSS 10.0 for Windows Program was utilized to calculate percentage, mean and standard deviation. Also, these materials were verified by t-test, One-way Anova, Pearson's correlation coefficient. The results of this research were as follows. First, girl students' necessity mean point were higher than practice mean point about the contents of clothing and textiles education. And necessity had a positive relationship with practices of contents of clothing and textiles education. Second, there was a significant difference in necessity and practice of contents of clothing and textiles education according to demographic variables. These results should be provide fundamental information for improving students' critical practice in their real life. Since this study has touched only limited research on the topic of clothing and textiles education, it is essential that further research covering a wider array of themes be done in the future. this study has touched only limited research on the topic of clothing and textiles education, it is essential that further research covering a wider array of themes be done in the future.
This experiment was conducted to construct process models to estimate grain weight (GW) and grain nitrogen content (GN) in rice. A model was developed to describe the dynamic pattern of GW and GN during grain-filling period considering their relationships with temperature, solar radiation and growth traits such as LAI, shoot dry-weight, shoot nitrogen content, grain number during grain filling. Firstly, maximum grain weight (GWmax) and maximum grain nitrogen content (GNmax) equation was formulated in relation to Accumulated effective temperature (AET) ${\times}$ Accumulated radiation (AR) using boundary line analysis. Secondly, GW and GN equation were created by relating the difference between GW and GWmax and the difference between GN and GNmax, respectively, with growth traits. Considering the statistics such as coefficient of determination and relative root mean square of error and number of predictor variables, appropriate models for GW and GN were selected. Model for GW includes GWmax determined by AET ${\times}$ AR, shoot dry weight and grain number per unit land area as predictor variables while model for GN includes GNmax determined by AET ${\times}$ AR, shoot N content and grain number per unit land area. These models could explain the variations of GW and GN caused not only by variations of temperature and solar radiation but also by variations of growth traits due to different sowing date, nitrogen fertilization amount and row spacing with relatively high accuracy.
The experiment was conducted in 1992 to find out the approach to the development of prediction model of weed population in paddy fields. The weed seeds of 88% over were separated from the soil by using $K_2CO_3$ 50% solution with specific gravity 1.34. The weed seeds which were floated on the solution due to the difference of specific gravity between soil particles and the seeds were effectively withdrawn by using a vaccum pump attached with an aspirator. The seeds withdrawn together with solution were taken by filtering with a nylon net of $0.31{\times}0.16mm$ mesh. The pressing method was more efficient and practical for the viability test of weed seeds separated from the soil compared with the germination test and the TTC test. For the prediction of weed population by the number of weed seedlings emerged at the sampled soil, the sampling method of 0-10cm deep at 5-6 sites per field was applicable. At the prediction method by the number of seedlings emerged, the smaller the seed sizes, the lower the prediction coefficients of weed species. It was considered that the prediction method by the number of seedlings emerged was more practical than the prediction method by the number of seeds separated from sampled soil, in relation to similarities to weed population, time and expenses required for examining, technical difficulties and applicability of weed species.
This study investigated the method to adjust acquisition time(a) and injection dose (i) to make the best basal and subtraction images in consecutive SPECT. Image quality was assumed to be mainly affected by signal to noise ratio(S/N). Basal image was subtracted from the second image consecutively acquired at the same position. We calculated S/N ratio in basal SPECT images($S_1/N_1$) and subtraction SPECT images(Ss/Ns) to find a(time) and i(dose) to maximize S/N of both images at the same time. From phantom images, we drew the relation of image counts and a(time) and i(dose) in our system using fanbeam-high-resolution collimated triple head SPECT. Noise by imaging process depended on Poisson distribution. We took maximum tolerable duration of consecutive acquisition as 30 minutes and maximum injectible dose as 1,850MBq(50 mCi)(sum of two injections) per study. Counts of second-acquired image($S_2$), counts($S_s$) and noise($N_s$) of subtraction SPECT were as follows. $C_1$ was the coefficient of measurement with our system. $$S_2=S_1{\cdot}(\frac{30-a}{a})+background{\cdot}(1-\frac{30-a}{a})+C_1{\cdot}(30-a){\cdot}{\epsilon}{\cdot}(50-i)$$$$Ss=S_2-\{S_1{\cdot}(\frac{30-a}{a})+background{\cdot}(1-\frac{(30-a)}{a})\}$$$$Ns={\sqrt{N_2^2+N_1^2{\cdot}\frac{(30-a)^2}{a^2}}={\sqrt{S_2+S_1{\cdot}\frac{(30-a)^2}{a^2}}$$ In case of rest/acetazolamide study, effect(${\epsilon}$) of acetazolamide to increase global brain uptake of Tc-99m-HMPAO could be 1.5 or less. Varying ${\epsilon}$ from 1 to 1.5, a(time) and i(dose) pair to maximize both $S_1/N_l$ and Ss/Ns was determined. 15 mCi/17 min and 35mCi/13min was the best a(time) and i(dose) pair for rest/acetazolamide study(when ${\epsilon}$ were 1.2) and came to be used for our clinical routine after this study. We developed simple method to maximize S/N ratios of basal and subtraction SPECT from consecutive acquisition. This method could be applied to ECD/HMPAO and brain activation studies as well as rest/acetazolamide studies.
To understand the characteristics of uranium distribution, and the correlation of the uranium content and major constituents in uraniferous black slates from the Jinsan area of Ogcheon Fold Terrain, forty representative specimens were analyzed by mineralogical and radiometric techniques. According to statistical analysis, the uranium has a positive correlation with organic carbon and limonite, but a negative relation to muscovite and other opaques. The relationship with the highest and meaningful correlation is between log uranium and organic carbon. The log uranium-organic carbon correlation coefficient is 0.845 and these two constituents have about 71.4% association. It suggests that the abundance of organic carbon controlled the uranium precipitation. The relationship of organic carbon to log uranium can be expressed by following regression equation log ($U_3O_8{\times}10^4+1$)=-1.3447+2.5599 log (organic carbon). The multiple regression equation of different major components to log uranium is log ($U_3O_8{\times}10^4+1$)=0.77396+ 0.04465 (organic carbon)+0.00574 (quartz)-0.00964 (muscovite)+0.37827 (biotite)-0.02286 (clay substance)+0.01268 (other silicates)+0.1032 (barite)-0.00224 (apatite)+0.01606 (calcite)+0.08258 (hematite)-0.02406 (limonite)-0.01715 (other opaques).
A total of 100 groundwater samples were collected from the Nonsan area and the behaviors of uranium and radon as natural radionuclides were investigated with respect to other physicochemical components in the groundwater in order to understand their occurrence, properties, and origins. Radionuclide levels were used to construct detailed concentration maps. The concentration of uranium ranges from 0 to 378 ${\mu}g/L$, with an average of 8.57 ${\mu}g/L$, standard deviation of 42.88 ${\mu}g/L$, and median of 0.56 ${\mu}g/L$. The correlation coefficient between uranium and radon is 0.42, whereas these radionuclides show no relation with other physicochemical components in groundwater. It is noteworthy that the uranium level in most samples (97% of the samples) is less than 30 ${\mu}g/L$, where the bedrock of the aquifer is granite or complex rocks located along the boundary between granite and metamorphic rocks. In the Okcheon metamorphic belt, the uranium concentration of most groundwater is less than 1 ${\mu}g/L$. Radon levels varies from 128 to 9,140 pCi/L, with an average of 2,186 pCi/L, standard deviation of 1,725 pCi/L, and median of 1,805 pCi/L. High radon levels (> 4,000 pCi/L) are most common in regions of Jurassic granite, whereas low radon areas are found in regions of sedimentary rock. In conclusion, the distribution and occurrence of radionuclides are intimately related to the basic geological characteristics of the rocks in which the radiogenic minerals are primarily contained.
The purpose of this study was to examine the patients' knowledge and expectation of dental implants and to provide effective consulting and accurate information on implants to them. To that end, between March 23, 2008 and June 5, 2008, patients who were visiting dental clinics (hospitals) in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, and Incheon areas were surveyed. 84.7% of subjects said that they recognized implants, and the largest number of them (26.7%) of subjects came to know via friends. According to an analysis of subjects' knowledge of the dental implant operation, the maximum value was 4.06, and the minimum value was 3.05. The opinion value on the need to have regular examination after the implant operation was highest at 4.06. Regarding expectation over the implant operation, the maximum value was 4.42, and the minimum value was 1.78. The opinion value on considering the implant operation capability the most important was the highest at 4.42. The relationship between the knowledge of and expectation over implants was significant. By gender, females had a significantly higher level of knowledge than males. Regarding preference, females scored 3.27 points, and males scored 3.23 points. By occupation, professionals earned the highest score of 3.55 in knowledge, and professionals earned the highest score of 3.31 in expectation. According to an analysis of the relation between variables of knowledge of and variables of expectation over implants, the correlation coefficient (r) between the two factors was 0.362, indicating a positive relevancy(+)(p<.01).

The aims of this study were to compare the accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of cnventional visual examination, radiography and a new laser fluorescence method, KaVo Diagnodent, for the detection of occlusal caries lesions. One hundred sound human premolars and molars which had no restorations or interproximal cavities were tested by three methods. Tooth lesions depth was assessed at histologic examination using Caries detector dye The following results were obtained. 1. Diagnodent show 7.8 in sound tooth, 25.4 in initial caries, 30.5 in enamel caries, and 53.8 in dentin caries with average score 2. Spearman and Pearson relation coefficient was high between tooth-specimen test with dye and Diagnodent(0.736, 0.619), visual examination(0.664, 0.666), and was low between tooth-specimen test with dye and radiographic examination(P<0.01, total) 3. Accuracy of occlusal caries was highest on Diagnodent(65%) and lowest on radiographic examination(35%) 4. In initial caries, the sensitivity and specificity of Diagnodent method was the highest. In enamel caries, the sensitivity of visual examination was the highest and specificity of Diagnodent method was the highest. In dentinal caries, the sensitivity and specificity of Diagnodent method was the highest and sensitivity of visual examination was the lowest.
An improved method in place of a conventional vanillin spectroscopic method (CVSM) was developed for determination of catechin and its derivatives in extract and oil of grape seeds. For the CVSM, grape seed extracts had relatively high catechin content in the range of $17{\sim}43%$ (g/100g of extract), while grape seed oils had relatively smaller catechin content in the range of $30{\sim}40mg%$ (mg/100g of oil). For the improved vanillin spectroscopic method (IVSM) using a polyamide cartridge, catechin content of grape seed extracts was in the range of $4.0{\sim}7.5%$, while that of grape seed oils was below 5 ppm. Meanwhile, the quantities of catechin and its derivatives were determined by HPLC in the grape seed extracts and oils. Four major catechins [(+)-catechin, procyanidin B2, (-)-epicatechin, and epicatechin gallate] were detected from grape seed extracts, and the ranges of concentrations were as follows: (+)-catechin, $1.35{\sim}2.60%$; procyanidin $B_2$, $0.77{\sim}1.36%$; (-)-epicatechin, $2.35{\sim}4.59%$; (-)-epicatechin gallate, $0.06{\sim}0.30%$. In contrast, four catechins were barely detectable in the grape seed oils. The reproducibility of four major catechins in grape seed extracts, given as coefficient of variation, was below 5%, and the recovery close to above 95%. The achieved detection level of four catechins was $1{\sim}5\;ppm$. Additionally, the contents of catechin compositions in grape seed extract were also determined by HPLC in relation to different cultivars and producing areas. Thus, HPLC method and IVSM using polyamide cartridge can be used as alternative to CVSM for determination of catechin and its derivatives in extract and oil of grape seeds.
