Background: Previous epidemiologic studies on the association between energy intake and endometrial cancer risk have only generated contradictory results. The role of energy intake in endometrial carcinogenesis thus remains unclear. To quantitatively assess the potential association between energy intake and endometrial cancer, a meta-analysis of case-control and cohort studies was here conducted. Materials and Methods: Eligible studies were retrieved via both computerized searches and review of references. Fixed-or random-effect models were used to summarize the estimates of OR with 95%CIs. Stratified analyses on study design, region and macronutrients' calorie were performed. Results: Sixteen studies met the inclusion criteria of the meta-analysis. No association between total energy intake and endometrial cancer was observed in either overall group (OR=1.11, 95%CI 0.92-1.30) or subgroups stratified by study design and region. In the specific macronutrients' calorie analysis, higher fat energy intake was found to be associated with increased endometrial risk (OR=1.72, 95%CI 1.12-2.32) while energy from carbohydrate and protein was not related to endometrial cancer risk. Conclusions: Our analysis did not support that total energy intake is related to endometrial cancer risk, in contrast to fat energy.
Transmembrane(TM) proteins are closely related to transport, channel formation, signaling, cell to cell interaction, so they are the crucial target of modern medicinal drugs. In order to study the structure and function of these TM proteins, it is important to prepare reasonable amounts of proteins. However, their preparation is seriously difficult and time-consuming due to insufficient yields and low solubility of TM proteins. We tried to produce large amounts of Syndecan-4 containing TM domain(SDC4-TM) that is related to the wound healing and tumor. Also, mutated SDC4-TM was studied to investigate structural change by modification of dimerization motif. We performed the structure determination by the Polarity Index at Slanted Angle (PISA) wheel pattern analysis based on $^{15}N-^1H$ 2D SAMPI-4 solid-state NMR of SDC4-TM and computational modeling using Discovery Studio 2016.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the cognitive effects of chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer. Methods: Using several databases, prospective studies were collected up to August 2011. Of 2,106 publications identified, 12 met the inclusion criteria, and 8 studies were used to estimate the effect size of chemotherapy on cognitive impairment. Results: Twelve studies were done since 2005 and most of the research was performed in Europe or North America. Eight studies were used to generate effect size across the cognitive domains of attention/concentration, verbal and visual memory, executive function, visuospatial skill, language, and subjective cognitive function. Each of the cognitive domains showed small effect sizes (-0.02 ~ -0.26), indicating diminished cognitive function for the chemotherapy group compared with non-chemotherapy groups. Conclusion: Finding suggests that breast cancer patients who undergo chemotherapy may experience mild cognitive decline. Further study is needed to generate knowledge and guideline for interventions to address chemotherapy related cognitive impairment in these patients.

With the advent of the 4th Industrial Revolution, the importance of solving problems through computing has been emphasized, and software education to improve computational thinking as a core competency has been designated as an essential subject. In order for education for computational thinking to be effective, appropriate tools for evaluating computational thinking must be supported. While studies on computational thinking have been conducted in the meantime, there have been no systematic studies on such evaluation-related studies. This study analyzed the related studies on the computational thinking assessment conducted in Korea and analyzed the previous research of the evaluation tools, evaluation criteria, and evaluation methods. Based on this, the implications for the study of computational thinking evaluation method were suggested.
It is widely accepted that altered metabolism contributes to cancer growth and has been described as a hallmark of cancer. Our view and understanding of cancer metabolism has expanded at a rapid pace, however, there remains a need to study metabolic dependencies of human cancer in vivo. Recent studies have sought to utilize multi-modality imaging (MMI) techniques in order to build a more detailed and comprehensive understanding of cancer metabolism. MMI combines several in vivo techniques that can provide complementary information related to cancer metabolism. We describe several non-invasive imaging techniques that provide both anatomical and functional information related to tumor metabolism. These imaging modalities include: positron emission tomography (PET), computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) that uses hyperpolarized probes and optical imaging utilizing bioluminescence and quantification of light emitted. We describe how these imaging modalities can be combined with mass spectrometry and quantitative immunochemistry to obtain more complete picture of cancer metabolism. In vivo studies of tumor metabolism are emerging in the field and represent an important component to our understanding of how metabolism shapes and defines cancer initiation, progression and response to treatment. In this review we describe in vivo based studies of cancer metabolism that have taken advantage of MMI in both pre-clinical and clinical studies. MMI promises to advance our understanding of cancer metabolism in both basic research and clinical settings with the ultimate goal of improving detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer patients.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate the current state and trends of health-related research on foreign migrants living in Korea. Methods: Among 85 articles identified via PubMed and RISS and additional 7 articles by ancestry search, 28 were selected for the review. Two authors independently reviewed the articles using a literature review matrix and examined together the three aspects of the studies: research methods, research topics, and research results. Results: Most of the articles were published between 2005-2009, and only 3 studies used an interdisciplinary approach. Most were exploratory and there were 4 intervention studies: three of them examined the effect of an art therapy on acculturative stress and mental health among marriage migrant women. The lack of information on informed consent, approval of institutional review board, and the validity/reliability of the translated instruments were noted. Conclusions: Research is needed to examine migrants' health behaviors, the prevalence of chronic illness among migrants, and the influence of acculturation on the use of health resources, health behaviors, and health status. Researchers should be aware of ethnic issues when they work with foreign migrants.
Research in teachers' knowledge for teaching mathematics (KTM) has been gradually growing for the past several years. With various conceptualizations about what teachers need to teach mathematics, there have been studies to find out the relationship between teachers' KTM and their students' achievement. In this paper, I reviewed various conceptualizations of teacher's mathematical knowledge for teaching, and existing qualitative and quantitative studies about this relationship. Based on the review, I identified the challenges to studying this relationship mainly focusing on the existence of a phase-teaching practice-between teachers' KTM and students' learning. Considering the challenges that have been identified in the literature review, I proposed topics for future studies that would contribute to our understanding how the teachers' KTMare related to their students' achievement, and investigate further about whether and how teacher-student interaction in classroom is related to changes in teachers' KTM.

Objective : The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of probiotics for cure of atopic dermatitis and suggest for the better method of studies in order to seek more effective treatment. Methods : We searched from Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal(KTKP), Reserach Information Sharing Service(RISS), National Discovery for Science Leader(NDSL) and PubMed. We selected among the papers published from 2005 to 2019 using terms related to 'Atopic dermatitic & Allergy diseases & Probiotics'. Results : 41 papers were selected from the database worldwidely. In these collected 41 related theses, there were 14 experimental studies(34.1%), 16 clinical studies( 39.0%), 11 review studies (26.9%). 23 papers(76.7%) insisted that the effects is but 9 papers(30%) said not effective. Conclusion : The effects of probiotics in atopic dermatitis is investigated positively, however, we have to consider the methods to approach the result including the sort, amount of probiotics, how to culture, how to eat and so on.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the trends, research methodology and findings of various researches on family resilience published in Korea over the past 13 years. A total of 93 publications related to family resilience between 1999 and June of 2012 were analyzed; 72 journal articles and 21 doctoral dissertations which had not been published in academic journals. The results are as follows; (1) There has been steady increase in the number of related researches since 1999, with a significant increase since the mid-2000s as various nontraditional families emerged and the perception of family problems began to change. (2) With regards to the methodology, the majority of the studies were empirical, using quantitative methods in both data collection and analysis. Most measurement scales employed were based on inventories developed by foreign researchers. (3) The research subjects encompass a wide range of individuals and groups from both vulnerable families and families from the general population. Additionally, some researches focused on special interest areas including program development & evaluation and scale development. Although research on family resilience has increased in quantity, there needs to be more qualitative, longitudinal and theory grounded studies on different families and individual types to better understand family resilience in depth. In addition, specific measurement scales reflecting the unique Korean family culture should be developed. Other challenges and suggestions for future research on family resilience are discussed.
Purpose: This study was conducted to understand the trend in research by analyzing previous studies related to the case management of Medicaid and to explore the direction of future research. Methods: Thirty three studies conducted from January 2003 to June 2015 were analyzed according to characteristics of researchers and subjects, research methods, measurable variables, and key words. Results: Of the studies analyzed, 69.7% were conducted on Medicaid beneficiaries, and 65.6% were conducted on the group of high risk for over medical utilization. The mainly used research design was a survey study design, which was 51.5% of them, followed by experimental (24.2%), and qualitative (12.1%) study design. Most frequently measured variables were medical utilization (62.5%), needs for case management (41.7%), and health status (25.0%). The topics most frequently studied were related to medical utilization, effect of case management, self-care, and program development in Medicaid beneficiaries and job and socio-psychological factors in case managers. Conclusion: The future direction of nursing research in Medicaid case management is to be vitalized through the expansion of the research population, and concretization and diversification of the research topics. In addition, conduct of further studies on intervention strategies and contents for improving quality of case management program is also needed.
