Experience of previous earthquakes shows that a considerable portion of concrete precast buildings sustain relatively large damages especially at the beam-column joints where the damages are mostly caused by bar slippage. Precast concrete buildings have a kind of discontinuity in their beam-column joints, so reinforcement details in this area is too important and have a significant effect on the seismic behavior of these structures. In this study, a relatively simple and efficient nonlinear model is proposed to simulate pre- and post-elastic behavior of the joints in usual practice of precast concrete building. In this model, beam and column components are represented by linear elastic elements, dimensions of the joint panel are defined by rigid elements, and effect of slip is taken into account by a nonlinear rotational spring at the end of the beam. The proposed method is validated by experimental results for both internal and external joints. In addition, the seismic behavior of the precast building damaged during Bojnord earthquake 13 May 2017, is investigated by using the proposed model for the beam-column joints. Damage unexpectedly inducing the precast building in the moderate Bojnord earthquake may confirm that bearing capacity of the precast building was underestimated without consideration of joint behavior effect.
The checking stresses in the Chinese codes for reinforced concrete (RC) or prestressed concrete (PC) bridges are aimed for the thin-web beam, which cannot reflect the actual behavior of the modern structures. The incompleteness of the checking stresses could give rise to the deficiency in the design and calculation, and unable to reveal the reason of some common cracks in the structure. In this paper, the complete stress checklist for RC or PC girder bridges are listed, as well as the corresponding crack shapes. The expression of the complete checking stresses is proposed in details. Spatial Grid Model can reflect all the concerned stresses in the structure. Through the comparison of the calculation results from the spatial grid model and the solid model, it is seen that the spatial grid model can reflect load effects such as shear lag effect, thin-wall effect and local effect. The stresses obtained from the spatial grid model could help engineers to have a good understanding of the structural behavior. Meanwhile, the stress checklist provides the information for analyzing and solving the deficiency in the structure.
This paper performs an experimental study on the flexural behavior of preloaded reinforced self-compacted concrete beams strengthened with carbon fiber reinforced polymers CFRP. A group of six preloaded strengthened beams was investigated along with one unstrengthened beam used as a reference beam RB. All beams have the same dimensions and reinforcement details: three beams are strengthened with CFRP laminates against flexural failure and three beams are strengthened with CFRP sheets. For simulating actual conditions, the beams are loaded before strengthening. Then, after strengthening, the beams are tested for flexural strength using 4-point loads where cracked and ultimate load and failure mode, along with load-deflection relation are recorded. To study the different configurations of strengthening, one layer, two layers, and U-wrap formation of laminates and sheets are considered. The results show that strengthing the RC beams using CFRP is an effective method to increase the beam's capacity by 47% up to 153% where deflection is reduced by 5%-80%. So, the beams strengthened with CFRP laminates have higher load capacity and lower ductility in comparison with the beams strengthened with CFRP sheets.
This study evaluates the seismic performance of a premodern six story reinforced concrete building typology designed during the communism period of Albania and build throughout the country. During the November 26, 2019 Earthquake in Albania, the most affected reinforced concrete buildings were among the old templates, lacking shear walls and inadequate reinforcement details which suffer from concrete aging. The mathematical model of the selected building is done in the environments of ZeusNL software, developed especially for earthquake engineering applications. The capacity curve of the structure is gained using the conventional static nonlinear analysis. On the other hand, the demand estimation is utilized using one of the recent methods known as Incremental Dynamic Analysis with a set of 18 ground motion records. The limit states in both curves are defined based on the modern guidelines. For the pushover, immediate occupancy (IO), life safety (LS) and collapse prevention (CP) are plotted in the same graph with capacity curve. Furthermore, on each IDA derived, the IO, CP and global instability (GI) are determined. Moreover, the IDA fractiles are generated as suggested by the literature, 16%, 50% (median) and 84%. In addition, the comparative assessment of the IDA median with capacity curve shows good correlation points. Lastly, this study shows the approach of determination of LS in IDA fractiles for further vulnerability assessment based on the local seismic hazard map with 95 and 475 return period.

The purpose of this study is to establish a reasonable analytical method for the estimation of overall behavior characteristic from cracking to yielding of rebar and crushing of concrete and seismic performance of reinforced concrete shear wall with high-strength reinforcing bar. A total of 8 specimens of reinforced concrete walls which have constant aspect ratio and a variety of variables such as reinforcement ratio, reinforcement yielding strength, reinforcement details, concrete design strength, section shape and whether lateral restraint hoop were selected and the analysis was performed by using a non-linear finite element analysis program (RCAHEST) applying the proposed constitutive equation by the authors. The mean and coefficient of variation for maximum load from the experiment and analysis results was predicted 1.04 and 8%. The mean and coefficient of variation for displacement corresponding maximum load from the experiment and analysis results was predicted 1.17 and 19% respectively. The analytical results were predicted relatively well the fracture mode and the overall behavior until fracture for all specimens. These results are expected to be used as basic data for application of high-strength reinforcing bar to design codes in the future.

Recently, research on the development of a composite slab system for shorting the construction period by simplifying the process by omitting the form work and the reinforcement placing is underway. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the long-term behavior of a simplified slab system that replaces the form work and tensile reinforcement using structural deck-plate and replaces the temperature reinforcement using steel fiber reinforced concrete. In the conventional composite deck-plate slab method, w.w.f is generally used for crack control by drying shrinkage. But previous research results by various researchers were pointed out it is not effective to control the shrinkage and temperature cracking. In this study, the long-term cracking and structural behavior of steel fiber reinforced deck plate slab specimen with two continuous spans constructed under typical load conditions were evaluated. Experimental results showed that the number and width of long-term cracks decreased remarkably in the simplified slab specimen, and the deflection was also decreased compared with conventional RC slab specimen. However, in the continuous end of the slab where the negative moment is applied, it is analyzed that reinforced details are necessary to control the crack width in the service load and to recover deflection at load removal.

In this study, an experimental study was conducted to analyze the hysteresis behavior according to the steel fiber aspect ratio and volume fraction of diagonally reinforced concrete coupling beams under to cyclic loading. The aspect ratio and volume fraction of the steel fibers were set as the main variables, and 4 specimens were fabricated in which the amount of transverse reinforcement of the coupling beam suggested in the domestic building structural standard was relaxed by about 53%. In the experiment, cyclic loading experiments were performed in the displacement control method in accordance with ACI 374.2R-13, and as a result of the experiment, it was found that all specimens containing steel fibers exceeded the nominal shear strength suggested by the current structural standards. As the aspect ratio of the steel fibers increased, the steel fibers prevented the buckling of the diagonal reinforcement, and the bridging effect of the steel fibers held the crack surface of the concrete. The shear strength, stiffness reduction and energy dissipation capacity of the specimens containing steel fibers were superior to those of the Vf0 specimens without steel fibers. Therefore, it is judged that the steel fiber reinforced concrete can relieve the details of the transverse reinforced.

In this study, details of NRC beam-column connections were developed in which beam and columns pre-assembled in factories using steel angles were bolted on site. The developed joint details are NRC-J type and NRC-JD type. NRC-J type is a method of tensile joining with TS bolts to the side and lower surfaces of the side plate of the NRC column and the end plate of the NRC beam. NRC-JD type has a rigid joint with high-strength bolts between the NRC beam and the side of the NRC column for shear, and with lap splices of reinforcing bar penetrating the joint and the beam main reinforcement for bending. For the seismic performance evaluation of the joint, three specimens were tested: an NRC-J specimen and NRC-JD specimen with NRC beam-column joint details, and an RC-J specimen with RC beam-column joint detail. As a result of the repeated lateral load test, the final failure mode of all specimens was the bending fracture of the beam at the beam-column interface. Compared to the RC-J specimen, the maximum strength of the specimen by the positive force was 10.1% and 29.6% higher in the NRC-J specimen and the NRC-JD specimen, respectively. Both NRC joint details were evaluated to secure ductility of 0.03 rad or more, the minimum total inter-story displacement angle required for the composite intermediate moment frame according to the KDS standard (KDS 41 31 00). At the slope by relative storey displacemet of 5.7%, the NRC-J specimen and the NRC-JD specimen had about 34.8% and 61.1% greater cumulative energy dissipation capacity than the RC specimen. The experimental strength of the NRC beam-column connection was evaluated to be 30% to 53% greater than the theoretical strength according to the KDS standard formula, and the standard formula evaluated the joint performance as a safety side.

This paper presents experimental results about shear wall with various lateral reinforcement details in boundary elements. The research objective is to study the structural behavior of shear wall with boundary column confined by rectangular spiral hoops and headed cross ties developed to improve workability in the fabrication of boundary columns. These two details can be fabricated in a factory and put together on-site after being delivered so that the construction work may be reduced. Main parameters in the experimental study were the types of hoop and cross tie: rectangular spiral hoop and headed cross tie vs. standard hoop and cross tie with hook. Four half scaled shear wall specimens with babel shape were made and tested by applying horizontal cyclic load under constant axial force, 10% of nominal compressive strength of concrete. Based on the test result, it was shown that the shear wall with rectangular spiral hoop and headed cross tie in boundary columns has structural capacity compatible with conventional shear wall. The specimen SW-Hh which has bigger hoop bar and higher volumetric ratio of transverse reinforcements than other showed improved energy dissipating characteristic but it presented a rapid reduction of strength after peak point. The results indicates that, it is necessary to consider volumetric ratio of transverse reinforcements as well as hoop space in designing of shear wall with boundary columns for improved strength and ductility.
In order to ascertain the attitudes of residents to their health and the National Health Promotion Law, surveyors interviewed 1,220 subjects, 1% of men and women in Kyungsan city, who were twenty-year-old or more. The major findings are as follows: Men and women were 48.2% and 51.8%, respectively. The recognition rate of enacting and enforcing this law is 59.2% of men and 51.3% of women. With regard to the behavioral attitude to the health in the distinction of sex and age, current smokers are 31.2% of the interviewees, 61.6% of the men and 3.3% of the women. Current drinkers are 35.1%, 59.5% of the men and 12.3% of the women, but on the other hand there is little significance in the distinction of age. The acknowledgement proportion of enacting and enforcing this law is 59.2% of male and 51.3% of female. In terms of the recognition rate of the contents according to the general characteristics of interviewees, it appears that the indication of a warning expression on a packing paper of cigarette case and a liquor bottle is 92.4% and also the designation of a smoking free area in public facilities is 94.8%. Prohibition of cigarette-sale to the teenagers who are under 19, is 96.0%. Considering these facts, the recognition rate is high. On the contrary, 48.8% is accounted for encouraging a medical check-up before marriage which is in a low position. As a result of multiple behavior as a independent educational level, marital significant variables. In case of having undergone a periodic medical examination the recognition rate was high whereas frequent exercise led to the low recognition rate. Concerning the details of the undertaking in accordance with each factor of general characteristics, the greater part of them have been appraised successfully whether it is recognized or not. On the other side, no effect got answered about the result of the undertaking subjects to general and peculiar behavior attitude towards health was in effect or not. A great majority approved of more reinforcement of legal regulation about smoking and drinking regardless of whether they perceived the details of the law of promotion of National Health Promotion Law or not. Additionally there was significant difference in reinforcing legal regulation of smoking and drinking in compliance with the attitude of the substance of this law. With regard to education, public relations and evaluation about national health through public health centers by our government, the younger and the higher in education they are, the more deficient they feel. First of all, those who were aware of the enforcement of this law as well as plenty of scarcity answered that better service of disease prevention had to be expanded than ever. In consideration of the above-stated results, the education to public health and the business of public relations should be reinforced and a practical campaign for health life should also spread out for the purpose of encouraging to practise healthy life-style.
