  • It requires an interim performance assessment for BTL business of the sewerage rehabilitation which continues from 2005 till now. Means, It is necessary to make an interim performance assessment and an analysis of an business effect of the sewerage rehabilitation BTL projects which still continues, and we presented an improvement method of the new sewerage rehabilitation project in future. This paper has conducted an analysis of the business effect for 3 local government BTL projects which are completed and under operation as of now in Jincheon-Gun, Cheongju-Si and Gangjin-Gun. As a method of business effect analysis, we conducted a business effect of the 3 places using the index set which we previously set for the business effect analysis. The index set in this research was sectionalized to an improvement effect of operating wastewater treatment plant, an benefit effect of the direct cost, an benefit effect of the indirect cost and an environment friendly effect. We, in this paper, conducted an business effect analysis for 3 sewerage rehabilitation BTL projects which are completed or under operation recently as a demonstration, however we judge that an business effect analysis shall be conducted in a stage that a significant time for operation has passed since the completion of the construction in order to induce an actual business effect of the sewerage rehabilitation BTL project.

  • Purpose: This study was conducted in order to investigate the awareness of physical therapy and difference between physical therapy and rehabilitation therapy. Methods: A total of 183 subjects who gave consent to participate in the survey at five universities in Gyenggi-do were randomly selected and the survey was conducted from February 2012 to July 2013 by a questionnaire consisting of 13 questions. Frequency analysis for the awareness of the general characteristics of physical therapy, anticipated cost, awareness of difference, and cross tab analysis for correlation with each item were used. Results: Participants recognized the academic ability, and the department for management of physical therapist licensing very well. The kindness and workmanship of physical therapists were average. According to their experience of physical therapy, most participants received a hot pack and electrical therapy at a local clinic and satisfaction with treatment was high. The percentage of students who recognized a difference between physical therapy and rehabilitation therapy was high, however, they misunderstood only electrical therapy for physical therapy and they recognized the exercise method of physical therapy for rehabilitation therapy. No correlation of the awareness of difference was observed between physical therapy and rehabilitation therapy and the awareness of physical therapy, experience, and anticipated cost, except the major of students. Conclusion: We found that people can misunderstand exercise therapy for rehabilitation therapy even though they have good awareness of physical therapy. Therefore, a physical therapist has to find the ways to express their identity while working.

  • Rehabilitation exercises are the treatments designed to help patients who are in the process of recovery from injury or illness to restore their body functions back to the original status. However, many patients suffering from chronic diseases have found difficulties visiting hospitals for the rehabilitation program due to lack of transportation, cost of the program, their own busy schedules, etc. Also, the program usually contains a few medical check-ups which can cause patients to feel uncomfortable. In this paper, we develop a remote rehabilitation system with bio-signals by a stereo camera. A Kinect stereo camera manufactured by Microsoft corporation was used to recognize the body movement of a patient by using its infrared(IR) camera. Also, we detect the chest area of a user from the skeleton data and process to gain respiratory status. ROI coordinates are created on a user's face to detect photoplethysmography(PPG) signals to calculate heart rate values from its color sensor. Finally, rehabilitation exercises and bio-signal detecting features are combined into a Windows application for the cost effective and high performance remote rehabilitation system.

  • This study(II) apply to the A city by using the optimal rehabilitation model based on the deterioration prediction of the water distribution system proposed the study(I). The deterioration prediction model divides factors into 14 factors with digging and experiment and 9 factor without digging and experiment and calculate the deterioration degree. The application results of the deterioration prediction model show that a difference of the deterioration degree according to factor numbers is within 1~2%. Also, the model can predict the deterioration degree of each pipe without digging and experiment. The optimal rehabilitation model is divided into the optimal residual durability of each deterioration factor and budget constraint or not. The application result is as follow: the rehabilitation time and cost increase according to the increasing of the optimal residual durability. When compared the model with budget constraint and model without budget constraint, the former model increase the cost of total contents. In case of budget constraint, the increasing tendency is concluded that the pipe rehabilitation is executed in same budget every year in condition that every rehabilitation cost do not exceed the every year budget within the optimal residual durability.

  • The main objective of sewer rehabilitation is to improve its function while eliminating inflow/infiltration (I/I). If we can identify the amount of I/I for an individual pipe, it is possible to estimate the I/Is of sub-areas clearly. However, in real, the amount of I/I for an individual pipe is almost impossible to be obtained due to the limitation of cost and time. In this study, I/I occurrence of each sewer pipe is estimated using AHP (Analytic Hierarch Process) and RPDM (Rehabilitation Priority Decision Model for sewer system) was developed using the estimated I/I of each pipe to perform the efficient sewer rehabilitation. Based on the determined amount of I/I for an individual pipe, the RPDM determines the optimal rehabilitation priority (ORP) using a genetic algorithm for sub-areas in term of minimizing the amount of I/I occurring while the rehabilitation process is performed. The benefit obtained by implementing the ORP for rehabilitation of sub-areas is estimated by the only waste water treatment cost (WWTC) of I/I which occurs during the sewer rehabilitation period. The results of the ORP were compared with those of a numerical weighting method (NWM) which is the decision method for the rehabilitation priority in the general sewer rehabilitation practices and the worst order which are other methods to determine the rehabilitation order of sub-areas in field. The ORP reduced the WWTC by 22% compared to the NWM and by 40% compared to the worst order.

  • Feasibility which is complimented before Social Overhead Capital Project and National Policy Project is analyzed by economic and political benefits. The projects will be performed if the benefits are bigger than the project cost. In this study, feasibility was examined at various viewpoints on sewer rehabilitation projects implemented with private capitals. To achieve the feasibility analysis, the B/C (Benefit/Cost Ratio), IRR (Internal Rate of Return) and the returns ratio of the Build Transfer Lease project implemented in 2007 at W city were estimated. At the same time, the correlation with B/C and benefit sensitivity of concessionary rate fluctuation were analyzed to evaluate the efficiency and feasibility of the seven sewer rehabilitation projects promoted by a local autonomous entity.

  • This paper presents a low-cost robotic device for shoulder rehabilitation, which is capable of treating various shoulder disabilities. A 3-DOF passive shoulder joint tracking module was designed to allow for translational motion of the shoulder joint center during arm swing, which is essential for natural shoulder movement. The weight of the user's arm and the device were compensated for by springs, to enable gravity-free shoulder motion. In order to reduce the device's cost, only one actuator was used, which can be aligned with the user's shoulder joint in various orientations. The device is capable of implementing five representative shoulder motions, including flexion/extension, abduction/adduction, horizontal abd/adduction, internal/external rotation, and oblique raise. The proposed low-cost shoulder rehabilitation robot is expected to provide effective rehabilitation for patients with various shoulder impairments.

  • Change Orders generally impact cost and schedule performance of highway projects. However, highway projects that do not have any change orders also face cost growth and schedule delays. This study seeks to determine the cost and schedule performance of Texas DOT projects by collecting project data for 120 highway projects completed between 2016 to 2020. For the study, we selected project data that has zero or negative change orders which were then grouped and analyzed based on their Project Types i.e., maintenance works; structural works; restoration and rehabilitation works; and safety works. The study found that performance of Maintenance and Safety type projects had less cost and schedule growth among the data analyzed. Statistical tests also found that even though the projects have no change orders, Rehabilitation and Restoration type projects experienced significant schedule growth compared to others. However, the data did not show any significant cost and schedule growth for the projects when statistical tests were performed on overall data. The study concluded that highway projects are experiencing schedule growth even though the projects had no change orders. Results from the study can help planners, engineers, and administrators to gain better insight on how different types of highway projects are performing in terms of cost and schedule and eventually derive appropriate solutions to minimize cost and schedule growth in such projects.
