Shear strength is the most important indicator in the evaluation of rock slope stability. It is generally estimated by comparing the results of existing literature data, back analysis, experiments and etc. There are additional variables related to the state of discontinuity to consider in the shear strength of the rock slope. It is difficult to determine whether these variables exist through drilling, and it is also difficult to find an exact relationship with shear strength. In this study, the data calculated through back analysis were used. The relationship between previously considered variables was applied to deep learning and the possibility for estimating shear strength of rock slope was explored. For comparison, an existing simple linear regression model and a deep learning algorithm, a deep neural network(DNN) model, were used. Although each analysis model derived similar prediction results, the explanatory power of DNN was improved with a small differences.
The online fitness industry has experienced rapid growth in recent years, overcoming physical constraints of conventional fitness programs. The COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the trend as social distancing policies were implemented. However, as financial distress of offline gyms worsened, the Korean government implemented the "With-COVID19" policy, which lifted most of the restrictions and regulations on offline gyms, on November 1st, 2021, raising concerns about the loss of drivers for the growth of the online fitness industry. Using regression discontinuity design in time (RDDiT), this study investigates the causal effect of the "With-COVID19" policy on the viewer engagement of online fitness content. Contrary to expectations that viewer engagement would decrease, it increased by 21%. Additionally, subgroup analysis based on opportunity cost reveals heterogeneity, and the high-cost group experienced a greater increase of 32% compared to low-cost group. Based on these findings, the study provides possible mechanisms of the increase, theoretical contributions on using RDDiT in the Information Systems, and practical implications for guidelines on managing online fitness platforms and content in the era of digital transformation.
One of the problems that should be solved in Text-To-Speech (TTS) is discontinuities at unit-joining points. To cope with this problem, a smoothing method using a low-pass filter is employed in this paper, In the proposed soothing method, a filter coefficient that controls the amount of smoothing is determined according to contort information to be synthesized. This method efficiently reduces both discontinuities at unit-joining points and artifacts caused by undesired smoothing. The amount of smoothing is determined with discontinuities around unit-joins points in the current synthesized speech and discontinuities predicted from context. The discontinuity predictor is implemented by CART that has context feature variables. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, a corpus-based concatenative TTS was used as a baseline system. More than 6075 of listeners realized that the quality of the synthesized speech through the proposed smoothing is superior to that of non-smoothing synthesized speech in both naturalness and intelligibility.

Recently, the utilization of underground space for research facilities and resource development has been on the rise, expanding development from shallow to deep underground. The establishment of deep underground spaces necessitates a thorough examination of rock stability under conditions of elevated stress and temperature. In instances of greater depth, the stability is influenced not only by the geological structure and discontinuity of rock but also by the propagation of ground vibrations resulting from earthquakes and rock blasting during excavation, causing stress changes in the underground cavity and impacting rock stability. In terms of blasting engineering, empirical regression models and numerical analysis methods are used to predict ground vibration through statistical regression analysis based on measured data. In this study, single-hole blasting was conducted, and the pressure of the blast hole and observation hole and ground vibration were measured. Based on the experimental results, the blast pressure blasting vibration at a distance, and the response characteristics of the tunnel floor, side walls, and ceiling were analyzed.

In the regression model, Kang and Huh (2006) studied the estimation of the discontinuous variance function using the Nadaraya-Watson estimator with the squared residuals. The local linear estimator of the log-variance function, which may have the whole real number, was proposed by Huh (2013) based on the kernel weighted local-likelihood of the ${\chi}^2$-distribution. Chen et al. (2009) estimated the continuous variance function using the local linear fit with the log-squared residuals. In this paper, the estimator of the discontinuous log-variance function itself or its derivative using Chen et al. (2009)'s estimator. Numerical works investigate the performances of the estimators with simulated examples.
According to the development of optical technology, the capacity of LIDAR equipments has been greatly improved to get rock mass characteristics precisely and accurately enough and it has been lightened and popularized so that it can be easily used in the field. In this study, we examined the applicability of roughness measurement for joints in a rock slope using LIDAR technique. A triangular irregular network was constructed using LIDAR and a patch, which is a plane structure of discontinuity on rock mass measured from LIDAR scanning, was extracted to estimate the roughness of the rock slope. Four different kinds of roughness parameters were analyzed to find out their correlation with JRC for various point intervals. Among them, $R_s$ parameter was used to measure the roughness of a patch. Regression analysis between four roughness parameters and JRC with respect to point interval was performed. All the roughness parameters decreased with the increase of point interval. In addition, the parameter value showed greater decrease for rougher surfaces. A method of roughness measurement using $R_s$ parameter on rock slope discontinuities was suggested which showed slight overestimation of the real roughness value.

In this study, we evaluated daily root zone soil moisture dynamics and agricultural drought using a near-surface soil moisture data assimilation scheme with Soil Moisture Active & Passive (SMAP, $3km{\times}3km$) soil moisture footprints under different hydro-climate conditions. Satellite-based LANDSAT and MODIS image footprints were converted to spatially-distributed soil moisture estimates based on the regression model, and the converted soil moisture distributions were used for assessing uncertainties and applicability of SMAP data at fields. In order to overcome drawbacks of the discontinuity of SMAP data at the spatio-temporal scales, the data assimilation was applied to SMAP for estimating daily soil moisture dynamics at the spatial domain. Then, daily soil moisture values were used to estimate weekly agricultural drought based on the Soil Moisture Deficit Index (SMDI). The Yongdam-dam and Soyan river-dam watersheds were selected for validating our proposed approach. As a results, the MODIS/SMAP soil moisture values were relatively overestimated compared to those of the TDR-based measurements and LANDSAT data. When we applied the data assimilation scheme to SMAP, uncertainties were highly reduced compared to the TDR measurements. The estimated daily root zone soil moisture dynamics and agricultural drought from SMAP showed the variability at the sptio-temporal scales indicating that soil moisture values are influenced by not only the precipitation, but also the land surface characteristics. These findings can be useful for establishing efficient water management plans in hydrology and agricultural drought.
Varieties of literatures were reviewed in regard to the fundamental concept of day hospital, historical trends, the recipient of its care, facilities and personnel, therapeutic programmes and the follow-up care plans. Through the research the advantages of day hospital were highlighted in order to provide the reference for those who consider planning such health care institution. Since the introduction of the concept of day hospital and its implementation in 1930, many psychiatric patients world over are treated and cared. Patients with specific health problems ; alcoholism, acute or serious psychiatric disease, tendencies of humidor suicidal attempts, and with serious physical problems were excluded from the general recipient. Day hospital were annexed to the psychiatric hospitals in most in instances ; facilities, personnel, except nursing personnel, were shared. All therapeutic care were planned in daley, weekly programmes, and were focussed on socialization. The follow-up care were provided for those participating post- therapy club activities which were planned and introduced ahead. Many advantages of day-hospital care in contrast to the traditional hospitalization care were found: 1. The abrupt discontinuity of his family and other social role is prevented. 2. Therapeutic progress is faster. 3. Lessened economic burden to the family. 4. Behavioral regression is lessened and the lessened fear of hospitalization. 5. Less injury to the patients, self- respect, through lessened anxiety of hospitalization. 6. Incidents of secondary crisis believed to be existing in long term cases are decreased. 7. Therapeutic care implemented in freer atmosphere, better Patient-personnel relationships are created. 8. Varieties of group activities are Induced which enable faster recovery. 9. Patients could engage himself with social activities including getting job on part-time basis. 10. Rehabilitation of patient could be implemented.
We conducted test blasting in 3 sites to identify the effect on safety of the earth retaining wall by near blasting vibration. As a test result, we confirm that underground structures(earth anchor et al.) are relatively safer than surface structures as the underground vibration is 10~52% of surface vibration at a same distance. We derived surface and underground vibration prediction equations by regression analysis of measured 3 sites' surface and underground vibration PPV. Also we calculated minimum separation distance by blasting pattern about underground and surface curing concrete. Unless any discontinuity which are unsafe on the earth retaining wall appear, blasting work using under 2.4kg per delay is not meaningful to the earth retaining wall's safety as the result of measuring near blasting vibration, confirming change the earth retaining wall's instrument, and observation of structural deformation.
In this study, the effects of fracture tensor component and first invariant on block hydraulic behaviors are evaluated in the 2-D DFN(discrete fracture network) systems. A series of regression analysis is performed between connected fracture tensor components and block hydraulic conductivities estimated at every $30^{\circ}$ hydraulic gradient directions for a total of 36 DFN systems having various joint density and size distribution. The directional block hydraulic conductivity seems to have strong relation with the fracture tensor component estimated in direction perpendicular to it. It is found that an equivalent continuum approach could be acceptable for the 2-D DFN systems under condition that the first invariant of fracture tensor is more than 2.0~2.5. The first invariant of fracture tensor seems highly correlated with average block hydraulic conductivity and can be used to evaluate hydraulic characteristics of the 2-D DFN systems. Also, a possibility of upscaling using the first invariant of fracture tensor for the DFN system is addressed through this study.
