  • The object of this study was to classify the local types in relation to regional differences using Height-DBH growth of Pinus densiflora in Korea. The regional types were clustered according to Getis-Ord's $G_i$ among Local indicators of spatial association (LISA) by characteristics of spatial distribution which were calculated the residual of sample plots by fitting Height-DBH growth model using Weibull growth equation. Accordingly, Pinus densiflora were classified 3 groups, It indicated that annual precipitation had one of the biggest impacts among the considered site and climate factors. This results can become the standard for regional management of Pinus densiflora forests.

  • Geography as a field of learning had its beginnings among the scholars of ancient Greece. The emergence of modern Geography was much due to the collection and classification of information about overseas areas. Today, world regional geography, which may be called area studies in other social sciences, is regarded as an introductory geography course in many American universities. World regional geography, however, has been much neglected by Korean geographers. Many factors have made Korean geographers not concentrate their efforts to area studies. The exterior factors include the great expenses for the area studies' fieldworks, and the many geographers' involvement in the writing of geography textbooks and atlases for school students. The interior factors include all the ethno-centric, mysterious, and authoritarian perspectives a large number of Korean geographers strongly stick to.

  • Objective: To evaluate the clinical manifestations and causative drugs of the outpatient adverse drug reactions (ADRs) reported by community pharmacy. Methods: From April 2013 to September 2013, all outpatient ADRs reported by community pharmacy to Regional Pharmacovigilance Center of Korean Pharmaceutical Association were included. The causality of ADRs was assessed by the criteria of WHO-Uppsala Monitoring Centre. The clinical features and the offending drugs were analyzed using the WHO-Adverse Reaction Terminology and the classification of American Hospital Formulary Service Drug Information, respectively. Results: 2,826 (97.0%) of the total 2,912 ADRs had causal relationship. The 1,923 patients with mean age of 55.1 years and female fraction of 66.5% were included in the ADRs. Gastrointestinal (33.6%), nervous system (14.9%), and skin (13.5%) symptoms were common in ADRs. Analgesic drugs (19.7%), gastrointestinal drugs (17.7%), and central nervous system drugs (11.0%) were prevalent offending drugs. The leading causative generic drug was the complex of acetaminophen and tramadol. Among 203 ADRs by the nonprescription drugs, the most common clinical features were skin (37.4%) and gastrointestinal (23.6%) symptoms and the most prevalent offending drugs were analgesic drugs (40.0%) and mucocutaneous system drugs (16.3%). The combination of acetaminophen and chlorzoxazone was the leading causative generic in nonprescription drugs. Conclusion: In this study, gastrointestinal symptom was the most common manifestation and analgesic drug was the most common causative drug in outpatient ADRs reported by community pharmacy.

  • There are some questions about the way to monitoring the regional innovative activities in a specific field because of decision-making for raising regional specialized industry. Numerous studies have been conducted in the past using patent statistics to explain and compare the innovative capabilities of districts, regions and countries. The prior method of calculating the regional distribution of patent counts is to assign the patents to districts by assignee's address, which was not proper, in the case of larger firms's headquarters, holdings or subsidiaries, to mislead in geographical terms. So the regional distribution of patent was counted for a specific technology area, electric device field(H01 IPC classification), by inventors' residential addresses. Then the interregional structure was investigated by analysing the relations of co-inventors' regions by individual patent using a network analysis tool.

  • This study aimed to find problems of nightscape of Anyang-si through examination of behavioral pattern at night and measurement of illumination and luminance in accordance with regional classification following 6 regional classifications on the basis of ur1xm characteristic of Anyang-si. Basic concept of nightscape creation was application of improvement plan with analysis of regional problems and creation of artistic value to enhance image of Anyang-si as a city of art. To obtain balance and unity of night illumination, concept of light zoning was applied to smooth-transform method by regions. Especially, right to view harmonized with surrounding scenery was secured through creating gradual skyline compatible with neighbor buildings using division of each buildings according to their heights. In addition, way to improvement of night lighting environment was proposed as to illumination, height, type of lamp and arrangement of street lights and furniture in accordance with regional characteristics.

  • The purpose of this study was to improve forestland characteristic evaluation system's indicators for rational development and ecosystem conservation. There has been no consideration for statistical duplication between variables, and it caused inefficient data collection. Furthermore, the same evaluation criteria were applied for all forestlands without considering regionally different characteristics, and it made variation for designation cancel rates of preservation semi-preservation forestlands between cities. To solve these problems, we first removed 'DBH' variable which has a multicollinearity. Second, we applied standard normal distribution for each forest watershed type. As a result of eliminating 'DBH', the numbers of parcels for all grades except A were changed but their numbers and areas were not large enough to consider the change of total score. For the output of analyses with the existing same regional criteria, the total scores of urban type and urban-fringe type forestlands were higher than those of other types. The numbers of parcels for A and B were increased and those for C and E were decreased by applying standard normal distribution. This caused the increase of preservation-oriented parcels. Finally, we suggested a new evaluation method based on standard normal distribution to consider regional forest characteristics and to solve regional imbalance.

  • Busan Port, Korea, is a region that must take integrated measures against problems such as the excessive handling of cargo volume, the intensification of port congestion, and the construction of a new port to improve port competitive power. In particular, if a great deal of function in the existing area of Busan Port transfers to a new port, then the problems of port redevelopment will occur as shown in the cases of port developed countries explained hereafter. For Korean ports, port redevelopment in a port zone is implemented for improving the port productivity that targets a local area, but the entire and systematic port redevelopment is not accounted for. Focused on this point, the paper is to present the directions for full-scale port redevelopment of the existing zone of Busan Port. The findings are as follows: First, the region of Busan is divided according to a regional classification that is necessary for port redevelopment. Thereby, 4 zones, total 26 regions of redevelopment were selected. Second, overseas case studies were considered for port redevelopment. From these same studies, appropriate types of port development in Korea were extracted and presented. Third, the status and problems of the selected redevelopment regions were analyzed, and types of port redevelopment were assigned. This study was not applied to the strict evaluation technique by quantitative analysis, but the concept and directions for unprecedented port redevelopment were first defined and established. It is significant to select target areas for redevelopment by regional classification and present directions for developing each region by choosing Busan Port as a real case study. This initiation will greatly contribute to the succeeding study.

  • The drastic change of spatial structure in rural area and the recent rural development policies(related to settlement reorganization and plot rearrangement) make the rural space planning more important than ever. So this paper tries to evaluate the institutional aspects of rural spatial planning system focused on planning area. land use classification and hierachical order between existing plans. The results of this study can be summarized as follows. First, the rural planning areas are classified into 4-tiers(e.g., Gun, Myon, District, Village). Second, the rural land use planning has 3-tiers(e.g., macro, mediate and micro zoning) from the viewpoint of land use classification system, but it doesn't have mediate-micro zoning system. Third, the spatial plans in rural area, positioned in local planning, were categorized into regional planning system and land use planning system. However there's no linkage between both sides of each hierachial planning order.
