  • Inflammatory bowel disease and alimentary lymphoma are common gastrointestinal disorder in cats. More recently, ultrasonographic features associated with feline alimentary lymphoma has been recognized as a diffuse thickening of muscular layer of small intestine. We investigated correlation between thickening of muscular layer of small intestine and such disease. We found a significantly increased thickness of the muscular layer of small intestine in cats with lymphoma or IBD compared with healthy cats. When a muscularis to submucosa ratio > 1 and regional lymphadenopathy were found during ultrasonography on cats with gastrointestinal signs, full-thickness biopsy could be recommended to make sure presence confirmation of inflammatory bowel disease or alimentary lymphoma.

  • Heterotopic bone formation in abdominal incisions is a recognized but uncommon sequela of abdominal surgery. On the other hand, the formation of ectopic bone is a well-recognized complication following arthroplasty of the hip. Heterotopic ossification of midline abdominal incision scars is a subtype of myositis ossificans traumatica. Ectopic bone formation of midline abdominal incisions may cause regional pain or discomfort in the patient after surgery. If symptomatic, treatment is complete excision with primary closure. Radiologically, it is important to distinguish this benign entity from postoperative complications. We report a 69-year-old male who underwent exploratory laparotomy for traumatic small bowel perforation. A segment of abnormal hard tissue was found in the abdominal wall. Heterotopic ossification may occur at various sites and is a recognized but infrequent sequela of exploratory laparotomy. This case highlights clinical and etiological features of this finding.

  • The article theoretically analyzed and specified definitions such as: "professional development of personality, competence, professional competence of a teacher". Structural components of professional competence are defined, namely: theoretical involves deep knowledge in the field of special pedagogy, special psychology; technological involves the use of acquired knowledge in practical activities and personal in which important personal characteristics of a special teacher are noted. Criteria and levels of development of professional competence of future special teachers are determined. The article analyzes the peculiarities of the professional activity of a teacher in the conditions of an inclusive educational space, in particular, the special training of a teacher as an integral component of this process. Emphasis is placed on the cooperation of teachers in an inclusive educational institution for the socialization of a child with special needs and her preparation for independent life.

  • Kimura disease (KD) is a chronic inflammatory disorder that frequently involves the subcutaneous tissue of the head and neck regions. It often manifests as regional lymphadenopathy or salivary gland enlargement in the affected area. The histologic architecture of the lymph nodes in KD patients is preserved, while the affected tissues show follicular hyperplasia and eosinophilic infiltration. No single modality has been adopted as an optimal treatment for KD. This article concentrates on the fundamental features of KD and reviews current approaches to its treatment.

  • Background: Hepatocellular cancer (HCC) is one of the important health problems in Turkey, being very common and highly lethal. The aim of this study was to determine clinical, demographic features and risk factors. Materials and Methods: Nine hundred and sixth-three patients with HCC from 13 cities in Turkey were included in this study. Results: Only 205 (21%) of the 963 patients were women, with a male:female predominance of 4.8:1 and a median age of 61 years. The etiologic risk factors for HCC were hepatitis B in 555 patients (57.6%), 453 (81%) in men, and 102 (19%) in women, again with male predominance, hepatitis C in 159 (16.5%), (14.9% and 22.4%, with a higher incidence in women), and chronic alcohol abuse (more than ten years) in 137 (14.2%) (16.8% and 4.9%, higher in males). The Child-Pugh score paralleled with advanced disease stage amd also a high level of AFP. Conclusions: According to our findings the viral etiology (hepatitis B and hepatitis C infections) in the Turkish population was the most important factor in HCC development, with alcohol abuse as the third risk factor. The Child-Pugh classification and AFP levels were determined to be important prognostic factors in HCC patients.

  • The geographical name is an expression of human knowledge about living conditions and a basic tool for understanding about regional cultures and history as a result of spatiotemporal changes. This study aims to understand the historical and regional characteristics by analyzing the frequency and distribution of geographical names of 1:50,000 topographic map in the early 20th century and materializing on electronic cultural atlas. The result of this analysis is as follows. First, the aspect of distributed geographical names on the Korean Peninsula reflects a general trait of the country's natural and human environment included geographical features, population, arable land, the number of counties and villages, and functions of administration and military, etc. Second, through the frequency and weight of their names, the analysis shows not only the change of native names, but also the country's phase of the time by Japanese colonial policies such as exploitation of resources, the construction of railroads, and a desire to control of the border area with Manchuria. In addition, the study identified regional characteristics and differences in environmental perception and preferences, and naming basis and forms by the comparative analysis of each type of geographical names associated with village and ridge such as 'Chi' 'Ryung' 'Duk' 'Hang' 'Pyeong' 'Gok'. In particular, those characteristics were largely affected from environmental difference of each area.

  • Because of abnormal weather, a heavy snow on the Northern latitudes occurs frequently. This has resulted in significant damage and recovery costs. In korea, it has been declared a special disaster area due to heavy snowfall in Gangneung and Pohang 2004, 2005 and 2011, so there was a revision of action instruction for the road snow removal. Although, in our current system, snow removing methodology, regional equipment holdings, and snow responsible interval, respectively, has been classified by the National Highway, near cities and provinces support system not yet prepared. Only, if snow removing is not possible within the region itself, which contained the contents of "support and assistance to military or nearby offices requests". In this thesis, we studied the disaster scenario development according to heavy snow and the response and support system to the features of each regional. For the scenario deduction, we preferentially collected day snowfall and disaster yearbook data to regionals, classified similar pattern and plotted GIS snow map. We also classified heavy snow disaster by region and type and we deduced five-step scenario. The five-step scenario is nationwide(1st-stage), the National Capital region(2nd-stage), the Chungcheong Provinces(3rd-stage), the Kangwon province(4th-stage) and the Ch?l a provinces(5th-stage). Therefore we build near provinces support system according to five-step scenario.

  • There are limitations to cope with flood damage by structural strategies alone because both frequency and intensity of floods are increasing due to climate change. Therefore, it is one of the necessary factors in the nonstructural countermeasures to collect and analyze historical flood damage records for the future flood damage assessments. In order to estimate flood damage costs in Gyeongsangbuk-do where severe flood damage occurs frequently due to geographical and climatic effects, this paper has performed the regression analysis on flood damage records over the past 20 years (1999-2018) by rainfall characteristics, which is one of the major causes of flood damage. This paper has then examined the relationship between the terrain features and rainfall characteristics in the regional regression functions, and also estimated the flood damage risk for 100-year rainfall by using the regional regression functions presented for the 22 administrative districts in Gyeongsangbuk-do excluding Ulleung-gun. The flood damage assessment shows that the relatively high damage risk is estimated for county areas adjacent to the eastern coast in Gyeongsangbuk-do. The regional damage estimate functions in this paper are expected to be used as one of the nonstructural countermeasures to estimate flood damage risk for the design or forecasting rainfall data.
