  • Oceanography of the Subarctic North Pacific Ocean is reviewed. The submarine topography and the current systems in the region are explained. Recent serial observation data reveals that. though the upper mixed layer of low salinity is relatively thick. the pattern of the property distribution in winter is essencially similar to that in summer. Alaskan Stream Extension Water. which influences the abundance and the location of demersal fishes. extends northward to 58${\circ}$ N Lat in the Bering Sea. A southeastward intrusion of the Bering Borcal Cold Water causes the formation of a sharp oceanic front. where the demersal fishes such as Alaska pollacks and cods arc concentrated. The Alaska pollacks seem to avoid the low salinity water of the Alaskan Coastal Water.

  • Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that primarily affects motor neurons. The characteristic features of this devastating disorder are the simultaneous presence of upper and lower motor neuron (LMN) signs with progression from one region of the neuraxis to the next and eventual death, typically from respiratory compromise. Electrophysiological studies are an indispensible part of the ALS evaluation, especially serving as an extension of the clinical examination, and most useful in identifying LMN dysfunction. Not only may electrodiagnostic studies reveal characteristic changes in those regions clinically manifesting signs, but it also serves to disclose asymptomatic areas of involvement.

  • Anthracnose is one of the major problems for cultivating many crops, including vegetables, fruits, and trees. It is a continual threat for fruits grower worldwide. Colletotrichum fructicola was isolated from Shine Muscat berries showing typical anthracnose symptom in Korea. It was identified as C. fructicola based on morphology, pathological signs and concatenated sequences of internal transcribed spacer region of rDNA, glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate dehydrogenase, β-tubulin-2, chitin synthase-1, calmodulin, and the Apn2-Mat1-2 intergenic spacer and partial mating type (Mat1-2) gene. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report first report of anthracnose of Shine Muscat caused by C. fructicola in Korea.

  • Lateral arm flap has been used for the reconstruction of the various defects in hand, head and neck region. This flap is highly dependable as a free flap because of its thin flap thickness, constant vascular anatomy and possibility of osteocutaneous flap and fascial flap. Recently, many authors tried extended approach for vascular pedicle and distal flap extension for bigger defects. In this study, we review previous articles and 14 cases used lateral arm flaps for coverage of the varying defect on head and neck, upper and lower extremities succesfully. In conclusion, lateral arm flap has constant anatomical structure and can overcome the disadvantages such as short pedicle length and limited flap size, then the range of its application can be very widened.

  • A case of parasagittal meningioma en plaque with a peculiar clinical presentation is reported with a review of the literature. A 72-year-old woman presented with dysphasia and right hemiparesis. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated focal edema of left frontal lobe and a thick sheet-like parasagittal enhancing lesion with extension along the falx cerebri and adjacent sulcal enhancement. Differential diagnosis included idiopathic hypertrophic pachymeningitis, meningeal neurosarcoidosis, metastasis and meningioma en plaque. Cerebral angiography revealed occlusion of the anterior one-third of the superior sagittal sinus as well as a faint tumor blush supplied from the anterior branch of the middle meningeal artery. At surgery, the tumor invading the dura and skull was removed totally but the tumor invaded into the superior sagittal sinus was removed subtotally. The tumor was confirmed to be a transitional meningioma on pathological examination.

  • This paper is concerned with the asymptotic properties of the least absolute deviation estimators for nonlinear regression models. The simple and practical sufficient conditions for the strong consistency and the asymptotic normality of the least absolute deviation estimators are given. It is confirmed that the extension of these properties to wide class of regression functions can be established by imposing some condition on the input values. A confidence region based on the least absolute deviation estimators is proposed and some desirable asymptotic properties including the asymptotic relative efficiency also discussed for various error distributions. Some examples are given to illustrate the application of main results.

  • The analysis of the spatial extent of flood inundation is important for flood mitigation. Geographic Information System (GIS) has advantage of analyzing spatial distributed data. Hydrologic Engineering Center's River Analsysis System(HEC-RAS) with HEC-GeoRAS was used to analyze flood inundation. HEC-GeoRAS, which is an ArcView GIS extension designed to process geospatial data for HEC-RAS, is a useful tool for storing, managing, analyzing, and displaying spatially distributed data. Rational formula and 24-hr duration probability precipitation data of Suwon meteorological station were used to estimate the flood runoff. And water profiles were calculated using the HEC-RAS model with HEC-GeoRAS. The flooded region is 8.24ha when 50-yr probability precipitation was applied and 8.8ha when 100-yr was applied to Bahlan study watershed which is located in Whasung county, Kyunggi province, having an area of $29.79km^{2}$.

  • Intracranial lipomas are rare, and most of these tumors are found in the region of the corpus callosum, followed by cerebellopontine angle. We present a case of a intracranial lipoma in 30-year-old man. Brain computed tomography [CT] scan and magnetic resonance images [MRI] showed a mass in the medulla oblongata extending to foramen magnum. The histopathologically, diagnosis of lipoma was confirmed. Although there were several cases of cervical intraspinal lipoma extending into posterior cranial fossa, there have been no previous reports of a lipoma arising from the medulla oblongata that extended into the foramen magnum. We describe a rare case of intradural subpial lipoma in the medulla oblongata with a review of the literature.

  • For high performance transistor in the 0.14um generation, high speed sram is using a weak region of SCE(Short Channel Effect). It causes serious SCE problem (Vth Roll-Off and Punch-Through etc). This paper shows improvement of Vth roll-off and Ion/Ioff characteristics through high concentration Pocket implant, LDD(Light Dopped Dram) and low energy Implant to reduce S/D Extension resistance. We achieve stabilized Vth and Improved transistor Ion/Ioff performance of 10%.

  • Chapter 1 in Article 2 of forest law defines the definition of forest. but its meaning is so wide that it itself containg a lot of contradiction in it. And it lose legal adaptation which gives a lot of hindrance with criminal investigation. Furthermore, it has made extension of ferming lands, and promotion of livestocks which are most important matter to be solved in Korea retarded. Such an act made us bewildered to adapt concerned laws being applied to out law. This is to form a basic principal and define its correction. It is required that forestry of Korea should be utilized valuable and reserve forest region instead of definition totally, and the purpose of reforestation should be clear. In addition to above, it is required to define what forestry is, in the direction of reconstructing forestry better in Korea.
