The analysis of short term success rate and healing patterns of $Implantium^{(R)}$ Implant (($Implantium^{(R)}$) implant의 단기 생존율 및 치유 양상에 대한 연구)

  • This study is an analysis of distribution of patients who installed Implantium implant in Yonsei University Dental Hospital and types of implant site for about 1 years recall check and success rate. 164 implants were installed to 52 patients in this study. It shows the conclusion below. 1. Patients at the age of 40s and 50s were 65% of all implant cases and average number of implant was 4 (man), and 2.7 (woman). 75 implants were operated on maxilla and 89 were mandible. 19 implants on anterior region and 145 implants on posterior region. 2. Most distribution of bone qaulity for implant site was type III(37.2%) and bone quantity was type C(61. 7%) 3. The majority of implants were those of 10, 12mm in length (85%) and regular diameter in width (48.8%). 4. 30 implants were installed with the advanced technique-GER, window opemng, osteotome technique. 5. Two implants were removed before prosthodontic treatment due to the osseointegraton failure. The success rate was 98.8% in 15.2 months follow up period and the marginal bone loss was 0.28mm. The results provided us with basic data on patient type, implant distribution, bone condition, and survival rate. Within the limit of present study, It was concluded that Implantium implant could be used satisfactorily in various clinical situations.

The distribution of Xive implant patients and the type of implant site and survival rate in mandible (하악에 식립된 Xive implant 환자의 분포 및 식립부 유형과 생존율)

  • This study is an analysis of distribution of patients who installed Xive implant in Yonsei University Hospital and types of implant site for about 2 years recall check and cumulative survival rate. 41 implant were used in this study. It shows the conclusion below. 1. Patients at the age of 40s and 50s were 60% of all implant cases and average number of implant was 2.4(man), and 1.9(woman). All cases were operated on mandible, 3 implants on anterior region and 38 implants on posterior region. 2. The major cause of tooth loss is dental caries(48.8%), followed by periodontal disease. 3. Most distribution of bone qaulity for mandibular implant site was type II(65.8%) and bone quantity was type B(75.6%). 4. The majority of implants were those of 11, 13mm in length(95%) and regular diameter in width (64%). 5. The 41(19 persons) Xive implants that were placed in the mandibular anterior and posterior region were all survival and showed a 100% 2 year cumulative survival rate. The results provided us with basic data on patient type, implant distribution, bone condition, and survival rate. We wish that our results coupled with other research data helps assist in the further study for better implant success rates, etc.

  • Six thousands of vehicles are operated on Korean urban transit system. 95% of them have regeneration system. Especially, the VVVF-Inverter vehicle has a merit of the highest regeneration rate. Therefore, the energy storage system is needed to be developed to use regeneration energy when the vehicle is braking. Therefore, Measuring regeneration energy in the substation need to know how much regeneration energy occurs, how much capacity of energy storage system is needed. After measuring regeneration energy, we design the capacity of energy storage system.

  • A mathematical model for wall-flow monolith ceramic diesel particulate filter was developed in order to describe the processes which take place in the filter during regeneration. The major output of the model comprises ceramic wall temperature and regeneration time(soot reduction). Various numerical tests were performed to demonstrate how the gas oxygen concentration, flow rate and the initial particulate trap loading affect the regeneration time and peak trap temperature. The model is shown to b in reasonable agreement with the published experimental results. This model can be applied to predict the thermal shock failure due to high temperature during combustion regeneration process.

Regeneration from Storage Root Disk Culture of Purple Sweet Potato

  • Sweet potato has low regeneration capacity, which is a serious obstacle for the fruitful production of transgenic plants. Simple and rapid regeneration method from storage root explants of purple sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas L.) was investigated. The embryogenic callus was observed from 4 cultivars and its highest rate was induced at 1 μM 2,4-D after 5 weeks of culture. Result revealed that a low concentration of 2,4-D and low light intensity was important factors for embryogenic callus formation. After subculture on medium with 5 μM ABA for 4 days, subsequently, occurred the regeneration of shoots within 4 weeks when these embryogenic callus was transferred onto the MS hormone free medium. Regenerated shoots were developed into platelets, and grown normal plants in the greenhouse. We developed a simple and quickly protocol to regenerate plantlets in storage root explants of purple sweet potato. This regeneration system will facilitate tissue culture and gene transfer research of purple sweet potato.

  • Tissue culture systems to optimize regeneration plant species of Ocimum spp were evaluated as a method to micropropagate individual plants and to better study their biology in vitro. Ocimum species were also evaluated for the production of natural plant products during and following the regeneration process. The primary goal of this project was to enhance the regeneration efficiency of basil. Several factors were examined using different Ocimum species and commercial varieties. The effect of cytokinin combination, activated charcoal, gelling agents, and different carbon sources were investigated. Anthocyanin callus spots were produced only in four varieties among six tested. 'Sweet Dani' showed the best results on anthocyanin accumulation, while 'African beauty', 'Tree basil' and 'Methylcinnamate' produced only a few spots. Shoot regeneration was only achieved from 'Sweet Dani' explants. As the activated charcoal concentration increased, callus formation rate decreased respectively compare to the controls for all varieties. There was a decrease in callus growth with increasing concentration of agar and phytagel.

Long-term Retrospective Study on Cumulative Survival Rate of Implants with Guided Bone Regeneration (골유도재생술을 동반한 임플란트의 생존율에 대한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to analyze the cumulative survival rate of dental implants installed with guided bone regeneration (GBR), and also elucidate the factors related with the survival of dental implants. Material and Methods: This retrospective study was conducted on 148 dental implants installed in 76 patients by one specialist (Y.K.) at the Department of Periodontology and Implant Center, Seoul National University Dental Hospital from 2001 to 2010. The cumulative survival rates were obtained by the Kaplan-Meier method. The correlations between various factors and dental implant survival were analyzed by using the log-rank test and Cox proportional hazards model. Results: Among 148 dental implants installed in 76 patients, 8 implants in 7 patients were lost and the cumulative survival rates up to 5-years and 10-years were 97% and 89%, respectively. Gender, smoking status and location of implant were significantly associated with the cumulative survival rate of implants (p < 0.05). Age, history of hypertension and diabetes were not significantly associated with the cumulative survival rate of implants (p > 0.05). Conclusion: The dental implants installed with guided bone regeneration is predictable technique according to the results of cumulative survival rate over 10 years.

A radiographic evaluation of graft height changes after maxillary sinus augmentation and placement of dental implants (상악동 골이식술을 동반한 임플란트 식립 시 골이식재의 높이 변화에 대한 방사선학적 평가)

  • The edentulous posterior maxilla generally provides a limited amount of bone height because of atrophy of the ridge and pneumatization of the maxillary sinus, Maxillary sinus augmentation is one of the surgical techniques for reconstruction of the severely resorbed posterior maxilla. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the survival rate of implants and the long-term changes of graft height after maxillary sinus augmentation by lateral window approach. From September 1996 to July 2004, maxillary sinus augmentation with mixed grafts of autograft, allograft, xenograft and alloplast were performed on 45 patients and 100 implants were placed. We evaluated the survival rate of implants and the changes of BL(bone length)/IL(implant length) according to time using panoramic radiographs. The survival rate of implants was 91.0% for follow-up period. The mean reduction of graft heights was 0.34mm(3.0%) for 6 months and 1.22mm(1O.66%) for 3 years after augmentation. The total mean BL/IL was $1.34{\pm}0.21$ during 5 year observation period after augmentation and decreased slightly over time. The result means that graft materials were stable above the implant apex. BL/ILs of 1stage procedure were significantly decreased at 1-2 year, 3-4 year after augmentation and no statistically significant changes were observed in those of 2 stage procedure. The graft materials of both procedures were stable above the implant apex. No statistically significant changes of BL/IL were observed in the grafts combined with low amount of autogenous bone or without autogenous bone. The graft materials of both groups were stable above the implant apex. The results indicated that the placement of dental implants with maxillary sinus augmentation showed predictable clinical results and the grafts combined with low amount of autogenous bone or without autogenous bone had long-term resistance to resorption in maxillary sinus.

The identification of optimum condition for direct regeneration in black raspberry

  • Adventitious buds appeared within 2 weeks on the base of the petiole explants and increased for two months. A maximum of regeneration (15.6%) was obtained on the medium containing $1.5\;{\mu}M$ TDZ in combination with $1\;{\mu}M$ IBA. To know which explants are the best for the induction of regeneration, three explants such as leaf, petiole and leaf-petiole were used. Among the explant types, the leaf-petiole explant was significantly more effective than leaf and petiole for promoting adventitious shoots, with leaf-petiole inducing at the highest regeneration frequency (33.7%). The regeneration frequency of adventitious shoots in the leaf-petiole explants was significantly affected by leaf size and the position of explants. The leaf-petiole smaller than 5 mm leaf in width was induced at the highest regeneration frequency (68.9%). The smaller leaf sizes, the greater regeneration frequency. Also when the leaves are nearer to the shoot tip, the regeneration frequency is higher. When the rooted micro-shoots were transferred to the soil after growing for 6 weeks in the media, the survival rate was 90%.
