The purpose of this study is to figure out the multicultural library services that reflects the unique socio-cultural characteristics of Korea. The Korean libraries have accomplished very prompt adaptations and unquestioning acceptance of the western model, although Korean conditions are totally different from the western. Under these circumstances, this study intends to critically analyze the multucultural library services, based on a thorough investigation of the American libraries' experiences. As a result, this study suggests the proper answers which can be applied to the present Korean library situation. The data for discussion were collected by literature survey, direct observation of American public libraries, and interviews or e-mails with American librarians.

This study aimed to analyze the overall operation status of the Bank of Korea library representing the economic library in Korea, investigate user satisfaction and demand, and to propose a direction for the development of the economic library in the future. To this end, a case study was conducted on changes in the external environment of major libraries at home and abroad, and a user survey was conducted. As a result, the future tasks include introducing smart systems, robotics some library services, non-face-to-face service response spaces that reflect the times, introducing big data analysis services, strengthening user-tailored systems, and activating SNS communication. It proposed developing specialized libraries, online reference and research support services, and providing original DBs for publications to strengthen expertise, maintaining and expanding cloud services, maintaining and expanding cooperative projects, and collecting national knowledge and information.

This study analyses the questions addressed to the collaborative digital reference service run by the National Library of Korea. The data consist of 661 question entries to the 'Ask a Librarian' service during first 6 months in 2014. Each entry includes average 1.17 questions, and 77.82% of the total questions are real reference in nature. Questions are analyzed by classification division, context of the questioner, desired end product, activities of librarians, and the resources used to respond them. Each category is subdivided and analyzed in detail. Results revealed interesting findings and problems, and suggestions for further endeavor are provided.

In this paper chemical process plant information is addressed to be standardized. The chemical process plant information has complexities in the context of its various types such as functions, shapes, connectivity etc. as well as its usages such as design, construction, operation, maintenance and so on. It was well known that the standard should be made by its users themselves to be used widely. The chemical process industry oriented ISO 15926 RDL (Systems and integration of life-cycle data for oil and gas production facilities : Reference Data Library) can provide the methodology for exchanging and sharing of plant equipment information, which will be developed through integrating existing standards such as ISO 10303 AP221, AP231, AP227. The PCA (Posc Caesar Association) which is located in Oslo, Norway, has the initiative in developing ISO 15926. Korea is a member of PCA and takes part in proposing and reviewing the new standard. The trends and prospects for the standard of chemical process plant information are addressed.

Precedents are data containing various types of information. In this study, I proposed a method to be utilized as legal information system for the public using automatic text analysis performed on precedents. It is carried out to analyze the defamation precedent using reference provision, judgment issues, major points of judgment, and reference precedents. As a result of the analysis, legal provisions used in defamation, key issues covered by defamation, and key cases are extracted. Although only applied to the Supreme Court case regarding defamation, the proposed methodology could be applied to various legal topics.

This study concerns with the reasons of the revision of the classification scheme and the kinds and methods of the reclassification. The reclassification IS to be implemented in case that classification numbers are wrongly given, or the scheme is revised, or it is wanted that presently using scheme should be changed to a different one. In the case of a revised edition, it is desired that reclassification is made based on the new edition because of the modernization of a data organization. However, in case of that it is not possible for the situations in the library such as the number of collections, staffs, facilities, budget, etc., the old edition can be based and the new one can be referred to. In this case, however, classification numbers may be dualized on one subject, and therefore, library must prepare the reference cards and the marks of the shelves for the different class numbers. Also, because much budget is required when the scheme is changed to another one due to its unsatisfactory usage, it should be carefully considered whether to change or not. The required time in reclassification for the relocated classification number of the revised edition is 18 minutes 54 seconds per volume, and its cost requires W 1,224.

This study aims to suggest desirable means to resolve conflicts in university libraries by measuring conflict levels and by revealing the causes of the conflicts with reference to the conflict level indices which were selected by university library staff. In order to attain the research objectives, a total of 36 university libraries (24 private universities and 12 public universities) were selected. Questionnaires were distributed to 739 library staff members and 515 answer sheets were collected. Among them, 512 sets of answers were taken as data for this research. Six hypotheses were tested through frequency analysis, correlation analysis, and step-by-step regression analysis using SPSS 12.0.

The purpose of this study is to investigate how contract teacher librarians and contingent librarians working in school libraries experience burnout, and to provide basic data that will serve as a reference guide for finding counter measures. In order to achieve the purpose of the study, 100 librarians (teachers) from the school library in Seoul & Gyeonggi Province were surveyed to investigate how their societal characteristics, working environment and conditions, psychological state affect their burnout. As a result, school librarians (teachers) felt almost no burnout, but the most influential factor was self-esteem. In addition, the satisfaction with the compensation system was less than average, and there was a need for improvement.

Recent efforts to systematically transfer older materials from local library collections to preserve in a cooperative preservation facility, such as regional main library, are being made in each region. The study, in this regard, sheds light the regional preservation program, as it identifies status of preservation in local libraries and analyze the opinions of librarians in order to illustrate the planning process of regional preservation program. Based on the data about preservation status of public library in Busan metro area, the study focused on the strategies to operate a cooperative preservation program for public libraries. Specifically, 1) it investigates the preservation status of public library in Busan area and the librarians' opinion on a cooperative preservation facility in Busan library. 2) It adds a proposal composed with a materials transfer strategy and a space management program.
