This paper analyzes the effect of DGS(Dispersed Generation System) on the voltage regulation of the traditional distribution system of which the voltage is controlled by the bank LDC(Line Drop Compensator). Through the simulation results for 22.9kV class distribution system with DGSs, some general relationships among the operating power factor and introduction limit of DGS, and the sending-end reference voltage determined by internal setting coefficients of the LDC are derived. Those relationships are that the introduction limit of DGS increases as the power factor of DGS goes from lagging to leading and also as the allowance of the sending-end reference voltage increases. From the relationships, a operation method of the power distribution system integrated with DGSs is proposed from the view point of the operating power factor of DGS and new voltage regulation method.
Dynamic Voltage Restorers (DVR)s are known as the best effective and economic means to compensate for voltage sags and swells [1]-[11]. This paper proposes a novel method to generate reference voltages synchronized with the grid whether the line voltages are distorted by a fault or not. The proposed reference wave generator (RWC) looks for the original wave forms from the corrupted line voltages and synthesizes the expected positive sequence reference waves for DVRs. There is no transient problem on the generated reference waves when the line voltages are distorted by the fault.

With the advent of distributed generation, power systems are fundamentally impacted in regards to stability and power quality. Distributed generation has a positive impact on system restoration following a fault, higher reliability, and mitigation of effect due to voltage sag. However, distributed generation also has a negative impact on decrease of reliability such as changes of protective device setting and mal-operation. Because bulk power systems consist of various sources and loads, it becomes complicated to analyze a power system with distributed generation. The types of distributed generation are usually classified by both rotating machinery and the inverter-based system. In this paper, distributed generation is designed by rotating machinery, and the distributed system having a model of the distributed generation is simulated using EMTP. In addition, this paper presents the simulation results according to the types of distributed generation.
The high penetration level of inverter-based distributed generation (DG) power plants is challenging the low-voltage ride-through requirements, especially under unbalanced voltage sags. Recently, a flexible injection of both positive- (PS) and negative-sequence (NS) reactive currents has been suggested for the next generation of grid codes. This can enhance the ancillary services for voltage support at the point of common coupling (PCC). In light of this, considering distant grid faults that occur in a mainly inductive grid, this paper proposes a complete voltage support control scheme for the interface inverters of medium or high-rated DG power plants. The first contribution is the development of a reactive current reference generator combining PS and NS, with a feature to increase the PS voltage and simultaneously decrease the NS voltage, to mitigate voltage imbalance. The second contribution is the design of a voltage support control loop with two flexible PCC voltage set points, which can ensure continuous operation within the limits required in grid codes. In addition, a current saturation strategy is also considered for deep voltage sags to avoid overcurrent protection. Finally, simulation and experimental results are presented to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme.

The most common power quality problems in distribution systems are related to unbalanced voltage sags. Voltage sags must be detected quickly and corrected in a minimum amount of time. One of the most widely used methods for sag detection is based on the d-q transformation. This method has the disadvantage of missing the detection of unbalanced faults, because this method uses a voltage sag level signal obtained from the average of 3 phases for sag detection. In this paper, an adaptive filter sag detection method is proposed for Dynamic Voltage Restorers (DVR) under unbalanced fault conditions. The proposed DVR controller is able to detect balanced, unbalanced and single phase voltage sags. A novel reference voltage generation method is also presented. To validate the proposed control methods, a 3-phase DSP controlling a DVR prototype with a power rating of 1.5-kVA has been developed. Finally, experimental results are presented to verify the performance of the proposed control methods.

We propose a novel sensing scheme, which operates by sensing the difference in voltage between a memory cell and a reference cell for a magneto-resistive random access memory (MRAM). A new midpoint-reference generation circuit is adopted for the reference cell to improve the sensing margin and to guarantee correct operation of sensing circuit for wide range of tunnel magneto resistance (TMR) voltages. In this scheme, the output voltage of the reference cell becomes nearly the midpoint between the cell voltages of high and low states even if the voltage across the magnetic tunnel junction (MTJ) varies.

This paper proposes a PMSM torque control method considering DC-link voltage variation and friction torque. In general EV/HEV application, two dimensions look-up table(2D-LUT) is used for reference current generation due to its stable and robust torque control performance. Conventionally, this 2D-LUT is established by flux-torque table to overcome the DC-link voltage variation. However, the flux table establishment is more complex than the speed table establishment. Moreover, one flux data reflects several speed conditions in variable DC-link voltage, friction torque cannot be considered by using the flux table. In this paper, speed-torque 2D-LUT is used for current reference generation. With this table, PMSM torque control is well achieved regardless of DC-link voltage variation by the proposed control method. Simulation and experimental results validate improvement of torque control error through friction torque compensation.
In this paper, a novel control scheme compensating source voltage unbalance and harmonic currents for hybrid active power filters is proposed, where no low/high-pass filters are used in compensation voltage composition. The phase angle and compensation voltages for source harmonic current and unbalanced voltage components are derived from the positive sequence component of the unbalanced voltage set, which is simply obtained by using digital all-pass filters. Since a balanced set of the source voltage obtained by scaling the positive sequence components is used as reference values for source current and load voltage, it is possible to eliminate the necessity of low/high-pass filters in the reference generation. Therefore the control algorithm is much simpler and gives more stable performance than the conventional method. In addition, the source harmonic current is eliminated by compensating for the harmonic voltage of the load side added to feedback control of the fundamental component.

This paper proposes a new voltage reference generation method for Four-Switch Inverters(FSI) with compensation of the neutral DC-link voltage variation. Since FSIs have the split DC-link causing the inherent problem of voltage fluctuations in the upper and lower capacitors, it is required to take account the voltage difference between the top and bottom capacitors. In this paper, to reduce the effect by the voltage variation, reference voltages are modified by adding compensation voltages proportional to the voltage difference between upper and lower capacitors. Simulation results showing control performance of induction and permanent magnet motors demonstrate the validity of the proposed method.
This paper proposes an improved bus voltage regulation scheme in filter-based reference current generation of power management for DC home grid with photovoltaics (PV), battery, and ultracapacitor (ultracap) by using feedforward terms instead of the filter output to produce the ultracap reference current. Simulation results have proved the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.
