  • In this paper, we apply the system in VMEbus to increase the stability and viability to implement a redundant network protocol. Typically, methods for increasing the viability of the system applied by the redundancy scheme between the two processes by configuring the network in between the two is to implement redundancy. However, the physical network in the process of the failure or when the loss function may not perform properly. These issues are complementary processes as a way to ensure stability between the VMEbus communication protocol is presented through a redundant network. In this paper, a direct implementation of the protocol and experimental results confirm the validity of these measures is to.

  • An effective dexterous motion control method of redundant robot manipulators based on neural optimization network is proposed to satisfy multi-criteria such as singularity avoidance, minimizing energy consumption, and avoiding physical limits of actuator, while performing a given task. The method employs a neural optimization network with parallel processing capability, where only a simple geometric analysis for resolved motion of each joint is required instead of computing of the Jacobian and its pseudo inverse matrix. For dexterous motion, a joint geometric manipulability measure(JGMM) is proposed. JGMM evaluates a contribution of each joint differential motion in enlarging the length of the shortest axis among principal axes of the manipulability ellipsoid volume approximately obtained by a geometric analysis. Redundant robot manipulators is then controlled by neural optimization networks in such a way that 1) linear combination of the resolved motion by each joint differential motion should be equal to the desired velocity, 2) physical limits of joints are not violated, and 3) weighted sum of the square of each differential joint motion is minimized where weightings are adjusted by JGMM. To show the validity of the proposed method, several numerical examples are illustrated.

  • In this paper, we propose a multi-path construction scheme to improve the survivability of a multicast session in military hybrid networks. A military hybrid network consists of a static backbone network and multiple mobile stub networks where some nodes are frequently susceptible to be disconnected due to link failure and node mobility. To improve the survivability of multicast sessions, we propose a construction scheme of ${\kappa}$ redundant multi-paths to each receiver. In order to take account of different characteristics of static and mobile networks, we propose quite different multi-path setup approaches for the backbone and stub networks, respectively, and combine them at the boundary point called gateway. We prove that our proposed scheme ensures that each receiver of a multicast session has ${\kappa}$ redundant paths to the common source. Through simulations, we evaluate the performance of the proposed schemes from three aspects : network survivability, recovery cost, and end-to-end delay.

  • The sensor network is a key component of the ubiquitous computing system which is expected to be widely utilized in logistics control, environment/disaster control, medical/health-care services, digital home and other applications. Nodes in the sensor network are small-sized and exposed to adverse environments. They are demanded to perform their missions with very limited power supply only. Also the sensor network is composed of much more nodes than the wireless ad hoc networks are. In case that some nodes consume up their power capacity, the network topology should change, and rerouting/retransmission is necessitated. Communication protocols studied for conventional wireless networks or ad hoc networks are not suited for the sensor network resultantly. Schemes should be devised to control the efficient usage of node power in the sensor network. This paper proposes a medium access protocol to enhance the efficiency of energy consumption in the sensor network node. Its performance is analyzed by simulation.

  • The mobile network allows redundant transmission via disjoint paths to support high-reliability communication (e.g., ultrareliable and low-latency communications [URLLC]). Although redundant transmission can improve communication reliability, it also increases network costs (e.g., traffic and control overhead). In this study, we propose a reliability-guaranteed multipath allocation algorithm (RG-MAA) that allocates appropriate paths by considering the path setup time and dynamicity of the reliability paths. We develop an optimization problem using a constrained Markov decision process (CMDP) to minimize network costs while ensuring the required communication reliability. The evaluation results show that RG-MAA can reduce network costs by up to 30% compared with the scheme that uses all possible paths while ensuring the required communication reliability.

  • In this paper, we present an algorithm called redundant logical paths (RLP) for efficient HSR traffic reduction. It creates redundant logical paths between each HSR node and all the other nodes. Eventually, a logical full-meshed network or paths will be established among all HSR node types, except the Quadbox type, which is used only for interconnection. The logical full-meshed network will be used instead of using the standard HSR protocol that depends on the concepts of the duplication and forwarding of the received frame until it reaches the destination node. The RLP algorithm results in significantly less frame traffic because there is no random forwarding as in the standard HSR protocol. For the sample network in this paper simulation results showed a 61.5-80% reduction in network frame traffic compared to the standard HSR. Our algorithm will avoid latency issues in the network and even network congestion, thus improving network efficiency.

  • The generation of redundant data according to the spatial-temporal correlation in a wireless sensor network that reduces the network lifetime by consuming unnecessary energy. In this paper, data collection experiment through the particulate matter sensor is carried out to confirm the spatial-temporal data redundancy and we propose permitted limit setting method for data transmission to solve this problem. In the proposed method, the data transmission permitted limit is set by using the integrated average value in the cluster. The set permitted limit reduces the redundant data of the member node and it is shows that redundant data reduction is possible even in a variable environment of collected data by resetting the permitted limit in the cluster head.

  • Interests in face recognition area have been increasing due to diverse emerging applications. Face recognition algorithm from a two-dimensional source could be challenging in dealing with some circumstances such as face orientation, illuminance degree, face details such as with/without glasses and various expressions, like, smiling or crying. Hopfield Network capabilities have been used specially within the areas of recalling patterns, generalizations, familiarity recognitions and error corrections. Based on those abilities, a specific experimentation is conducted in this paper to apply the Redundant Parallel Hopfield Network on a face recognition problem. This new design has been experimentally confirmed and tested to be robust in any kind of practical situations.

  • Two multicast delivery schemes are proposed to minimize the packet loss that occurs in the mobile multicast (MoM) protocol due to the handoff and relocation. The proposed schemes use a primary designated multicast service provider (DMSP) and a redundant or non-redundant backup DMSP. The simulation results verify that the proposed schemes greatly reduce the packet loss rate at the expense of the increased network traffic or the extra protocol overhead related to the operation of the non-redundant backup DMSP.
