  • Graphene is attracting attention due to its outstanding properties as line material for next-generation semiconductor. Graphene pattern technology is essential to apply graphene line. Selective graphene oxide reduction as one of graphene pattern method does not require a substrate thereby a high flexibility device can be applied. Particularly, the method using photon energy has advantages of short process time and environment friendly. In this review, we introduce the photocatalytic method and the photo-thermal energy conversion method using photon energy in the selective reduction process of graphene oxides.

  • The human performance issues and increased automation issues in advanced Small Modular Reactors (SMRs) are critical to numerous stakeholders in the nuclear industry, due to the undesirable implications targeting the Man Machine Interface Systems (MMIS) complexity of (Generation IV) SMRs. It is imperative that the design of future SMRs must address these problems. Nowadays, Multi Agent Systems (MAS) are used in the industrial sector to solve multiple complex problems; therefore incorporating this technology in the proposed innovative SMR (I-SMR) design will contribute greatly in the decision making process during plant operations, also reduce the number MCR operating crew and human errors. However, it is speculated that an increased level of complexity will be introduced. Prior to achieving the objectives of this research, the tools used to analyze the system for complexity reduction, are the McCabe's Cyclomatic complexity metric and the Henry-Kafura Information Flow metric. In this research, the systems engineering approach is used to guide the engineering process of complexity reduction concept of the system in its entirety.

  • High rate sulfate reduction under acidic conditions opens possibilities for new process flow sheets that allow the selective recovery of metals from mining and metallurgical waste and process water. However, knowledge about high-rate sulfate reduction under acidic conditions is limited. This paper investigates sulfate reduction in a membrane bioreactor at a controlled pH of 5. Sulfate and formate were dosed using a pH-auxostat system while formate was converted into hydrogen, which was used for sulfate reduction. Sulfide was removed from the gas phase to prevent sulfide inhibition. This study shows a high-rate sulfate-reducing bioreactor system for the frrst time at pH 5, with a volumetric activity of 188 mmol $SO_4^{2-}$/I/d and a specific activity of 81 mmol $SO_4^{2-}$volatile suspended solids/d. The microbial community at the end of the reactor run consisted of a diverse mixed population including sulfate-reducing bacteria.

  • This study is intended to look into the effect of construction safety supervision system on risk control and reduction. To achieve this, a survey was carried out to 114 companies in construction, ordering, contract and management. The overall findings were as follows. The effect of construction safety supervision system on risk control and reduction showed that factors of supervision system, supervision cost and supervision method had a positive effect on risk control and reduction. And their perception of the introduction of safety supervision system in construction sites according to process showed that there was a difference between them according to the field of ordering, contract and supervision. There was the biggest difference between owner and contractor in double supervision system, but no difference between them in the perception of risk reduction. These results show that all ordering, contract and supervision are positively needed for the introduction of construction safety supervision. This means that there is a difference between owner and contractor in the perception of process according to system operation. All companies agree to system improvement by the settlement of safety supervision system for the prevention of safety accidents and safe construction, but the systematic complement of safety supervision is the burden of contractor. And there is a big difference between owner and contractor in the perception of responsibility and concern for cost burden.

  • Ogive parts of large-caliber ammunition in Korea are manufactured by the Press Nosing method, but this method has the disadvantage of requiring additional processes such as lubrication before and after the press process. This study proposes the possibility of applying the Swaging method to improve these shortcomings. A large-diameter shell body was manufactured in sub-scale and plastic working experiments using a swaging process were performed. We investigated whether plastic processing is possible up to 75 % of the diameter reduction rate that satisfies the final molding dimension, and whether the dimensions of the product produced by swaging molding are satisfactory as the hardness changes according to the diameter reduction rate and the increase in thickness. The test using the prototype confirmed that the hardness increased proportionally with the diameter reduction rate and by more than HV 335 at the reduction rate of 75 %. The material thickness variation tended to be similar to the theoretical calculated value, and the thickness increase rate was proportional to 65.4 % at the reduction rate of 75 %.

  • In this research, through LCA analysis, the environmental impact of automotive engine manufacturing and re-manufacturing was analyzed from the perspective of the entire process, and the greenhouse gas reduction effect was calculated based on this. The amount of greenhouse gas emitted from the process of acquiring and manufacturing raw materials for automotive engines is about 3,473 kg for new manufacturing and 872 kg for re-manufacturing. Thus, the amount of greenhouse gas reduction by engaging in re-manufacturing is about 2,601 kg; the analysis shows a reduction effect in each part of the entire process except for the processing stage. As a result of the LCA weighted analysis, the environmental impact of new product manufacturing was found to be 1.07E+03 Eco-point, and it was 2.67E+02 Eco-point for re-manufacturing. The share of GWP(Global Warming Potential) among the six major impact categories(Abiotic Depletion Potential, Acidification Potential, Eutrophication Potential, Global Warming Potential, Ozone-layer Depletion Potential, Photochemical Oxidant Creation Potential) as high at 99.72%(new manufacturing) and 99.68%(re-manufacturing).

  • The objectives of this study were to evaluate the change of molecular weight (MW) profiles in natural organic matter (NOM) through various treatment processes (coagulation, granular activated carbon (GAC), and ozonation) using high performance size exclusion chromatography based on ultraviolet absorbance and dissolved organic detection (HPSEC-UVA-DOC). In addition, relationships between MW profiles and disinfection by-production (DBP) formation were evaluated. Each treatment process results in significant different effects on NOM profiles. Coagulation is effective to remove high molecular weight NOM, while GAC is effective to remove low molecular weight NOM. Ozonation removes only a small portion of NOM, while it induces a significant reduction of UV absorbance due to breakdown of the aromatic groups. All treated waters are chlorinated, and chlorination DBPs such as trihalomethanes (THMs) and haloacetic acids (HAAs) are measured under formation potential conditions. Both THM and HAA formation potentials were significantly reduced through the coagulation process. GAC was more effective to reduce THM formation compared to HAA formation reduction, while ozonation showed significant HAA reduction compared to THM reduction.

  • The present study focused on the synthesis of Bi-Sb-Te-based thermoelectric powder by an oxidereduction process. The phase structure, particle size of the synthesized powders were analyzed using XRD and SEM. The synthesized powder was sintered by the spark plasma sintering method. The thermoelectric property of the sintered body was evaluated by measuring the Seebeck coefficient and specific electric resistivity. The $Bi_{0.5}Sb_{1.5}Te_3$ powder had been synthesized by a combination of mechanical milling, calcination and reduction processes using mixture of $Bi_2O_3$, $Sb_2O_3$ and $TeO_2$ powders. The sintered body of the $Bi_{0.5}Sb_{1.5}Te_3$ powder synthesized by an oxide-reduction process showed p-type thermoelectric characteristics, even though it had lower thermoelectric properties than the sintered body of the $Bi_{0.5}Sb_{1.5}Te_3$ thermoelectric powder synthesized by the conventional melting-crushing method.

  • As a promising method for the volume reduction of the low-level liquid waste, the pervaporation process was studied using a cellulose acetate membrane. Experimental results showed that the pervaporation method, usually applied to separation of organic materials, has a good decontamination effect for the volume reduction of liquid waste and the evaporation rate of water in this process was markedly faster than that of natural evaporation method, a wide-used process for the volume reduction of liquid waste. Depending on the feed solution conditions, the pervaporation characteristics were evaluated by the experimental results and the optimum conditions for preparation of the cellulose acetate membrane were established to increase the pervaporation flux through the membrane.

  • In the present study, we systematically investigated the effect of mechanical milling on the magnetic properties of $Sm_2Fe_{17}N_x$ powders produced by the reduction-diffusion process. The Sm-Fe powders obtained by the reduction-diffusion process were composed of an $Sm_2Fe_{17}N_x$ single phase. After nitrogenation, the coercivity and saturation magnetization of the powders were 0.48 kOe and 13.32 kG, respectively. The particle size largely decreased down to less than $2\;{\mu}m$ in diameter after ball milling for 30 hours. However, there is no evidence that the $Sm_2Fe_{17}N_x$ was decomposed to Sm-N and ${\alpha}$-Fe even after ball milling for 30 hours. The coercivity was significantly improved up to 8.82 kOe after milling for 60 hours. However, the magnetization decreased linearly with the ball milling time.
