The environment in which we live is changing at an accelerated rate according to the needs of times, concrete structures are increasing daily responding to this advanced lifestyle as a result of demolition and construction. The production of noise and vibration during demolition work on these concrete structures has a major negative influence on the present environment in which we live. As a result, controls on this form of pollution are being strengthened. The aim of this study is to analyze and investigate zero - emission for decrease of environmental pllution in architecture construction field.

Red mud is an industrial by-product produced during the manufacturing aluminum hydroxide (Al(OH)3) and aluminum oxide(Al2O3) from Bauxite ores. In Korea, aproximately 2 tons of red mud in a sludge form with 50% moisture content is produced when 1ton of Al2O3 is produced through the Bayer process. Neutralization of red mud will help to reduce the environmental impact caused due to its storage and also lessen significantly the ongoing management of the deposits after closure. It will also open opportunities for re-use of the residue which to date have been prevented because of the high pH. Moreover, attention to liquefied red mud(LRM) that does not require heating and grinding process for recycling is needed. In this paper, characteristics of compressive strength for cement paste with content of LRM neutralized by nitric acid and sulfuric acid. The results showed that compressive strength of cement paste with neutralized LRM is higher than that of cement paste with LRM.

The study aims to investigate and analyze actual situations of managing topsoil at forest development sites based on their types, in pursuit of conservation and effective use of national land. To do this, I selected target areas by deducting the typical types of forest development and analyzed the condition of soil at the target areas before and after development. In addition to this, I interviewed associated construction staffs to conduct study on present situations of topsoil management and find out its problems. I also surveyed of relevant experts, with the intention of seeking solutions. The results of the study have been shown that firstly, experts preferred collecting and recycling of topsoil as methods of improvement of soil conditions for plant growth. Secondly, the importance of topsoil has been well noticed and there were few construction sites using the methods. However, working and economical problems have disturbed carrying out these solutions. Thirdly, after constructions, organic matter and total-nitrogen content decreased in general which were necessary for plant growth in terms of soil conditions.
From 2000s, modular construction has gained more attention due to many advantages such as reduction of duration, recycling. The modular structure is being used for urban regeneration recently. However, even though most facilities in the modular structures which are used as urban regeneration building are commercial spaces, exhibition spaces, eating and drinking spaces, there are lack of natural or mechanical ventilation systems. Also, there are relatively limited spaces on modular structure characteristic. Therefore, indoor environment performance of four buildings, which are performed as urban regeneration in Seoul, was evaluated by HCHO and $CO_2$ emissions. Consequently, the HCHO and $CO_2$ emissions of the commercial and exhibition spaces were confirmed that can influence on health of occupants. Therefore, the urban regeneration modular structure needs to add local ventilation systems for improvement of indoor air quality to more healthy and comfortable.

This study has investigated physical and chemical properties of FRP waste, has manufactured polymer cement mortar using a crushed waste with sand and has evaluated its capability to develop the economical waste recycling technology. The study has investigated tension strength, hardness test and impact test as physical properties and also thermogravimetric characteristics and analyzed infrared spectroscope as chemical properties. Then the study has manufactured polymer cement mortar and has analyzed how the FRP waste fine aggregate replacement ratio has an effect on compression strength. Noticing admixture can complement strength drop occurred by the FRP waste fine aggregate replacement, the study examined an optimum rate of admixture addition and its reaction through electron microscope photos.

As one of the methods for recycling the FRP from the small and medium waste ships, separation of roving layer from the mat has some merits in a sense of the recycling energy and the environmental effects. Similar characteristics, however, between the roving and the mat even with different ratio of the resin and the glass and the thickness of the roving, much thinner than the mat, make the mechanically automatic differentiation difficult. In this study spectrochemical differentiation between the two layers has been made using (1) boiling concentrated sulfuric acid which can dissolve the resin in the FRP layer, (2) methanol and isopropanol solution saturated with KOH which can dissolve the glass, or (3) hydrogen fluoride(HF) solution which can reacts with $SiO_2$ fragments of the glass. Furthermore coloring water-soluble dye following the HF treatment makes the roving layer more distinguishable photo-physically.

The purpose of this study is to provide a fundamental data and establish policies for the utilization of closed schools in Korea. The closed schools have been increased in Korea because not only the birth rate, and the number of students have been decreased, but also a greate number of people have moved to big cities or the elderly population is increasing. In this context, this research explores the current circumstance of Japan where experienced the similar phenomenon before Korea had. The results of this study are summarized as follows: The reason for the closed schools in Japan is a decrease in population due to the urbanization and reducing students themselves by aging. The recycling proportion of the closed schools is only approximately 62% in Japan. It means that fewer facilities have been recycled due to the transfer of the managemental departments and the lack of budgets for purchasing the closed schools. As the number of children decreases, but elderly people increases as the same time, it is necessary to positively examine the transition of the closed schools to new facilities for the elderly people. Even though the number of children had been declined, and it is recently turning back to an increasing of the residential children in 23 districts of Tokyo, there are still existing many closed schools. This phenomenon is caused by the decrease of the children and residential areas due to the aging and urbanization. For these reasons, there are many diverse demands for the practical and valuable recycling of the closed schools. However, it seems that there are few cases of successful disposal or transfer of management to other suitable ministry. Therefore, it is necessary for the closed schools to be remodeled the facilities required by current residents.

This study investigates the recycling potential of demolition waste (DW) according to building structure, while considering economic aspects. For that, this study surveyed 1,034 residential buildings to collect reliable information on demolition waste generation rates (DWGRs). This study suggested a method for operational cost calculation for each stage and carried out an inventory analysis. The economic value of recycled DW materials was also calculated. And then, the recycling potential(RP) was calculated by building structures and waste types. RP by building structure was low (27-40%), and RP was found in the order of masonry-block, wooden, RC and concrete-brick. By type of DWs, the RP of aggregates was considerably lower than 7%, and DWs such as wood, plastics, and metals showed more than 100% RP. Considering the results of this study, In order to improve the RP of buildings and DWs, the diversification of products that recycled waste like aggregates (i.e., mortar, concrete, bricks, blocks, tiles) and the development of high value-added products are considered to be the most urgent problems. Based on the above RP results, this study proposed a more advanced method for life cycle assessment of buildings and demolition waste.

In this paper, we tried to examine the composition ratio of plastic waste from households according to the generated city and the qualities according to the production time of material recycling products. As a result, the composition ratio of recyclable plastic waste among the total plastic waste according to the generated cities is 64.5~90.4%, showing a big difference by city. In addition, the quality evaluation of material recycling products by production time for four months showed that the average tensile strength was 12.33MPa, the average elongation rate was 5.94%, the average density was 1.35g/㎤ and the average ash content was 3.66%.
In the process of modermization the problem of environment destruction has become a worldwide issue. And now this problem is a concern for all branches of science, including that of architectural desigv. This thesis tries to find the meaning of ecological architectural space, one that encreases the organic relationship, and communication, between architectrual space and urban environmental space, between human beings and architecture, and between human beings and their environment. As an example, we will take a look at the architectural space-design of Frei Otto, who offers diverse creative ecological architectural forms. His concept of architecture has the critical character when compared with the traditionan conventional concept of architecture. The ecological characteristics of his architectural spacedesign can be summarized as follows: The first characteristic is his ample use of natural objects in the architectural structure. An ample use of living things like trees and plants as well as of inanimate thing like water, wind as architectural elements enhances the functional efficiency of architecture. The second characteristic is its ecological architectural system, which saves energy faciliates ventilation by changing the position and direction of the building, by systematically applying the materials, and by efficiently arranging the inner space. The third characteristic is the dematerialization of architecture and the use of materials that are economical and appropriate for the circulation system of nature. The use of natural elements and recycling natural objects, makes it possible to reuse materials of the destroyed building. In short, the ecological architecture of Frei Otto, which shows the relation between human beings and architecture, presents diverse possibilities of the archtectural space as a complex natural system, which is more than a simple combination of separatge elements.
