  • This paper presents single-phase SRM drive system with single-stage high power factor and low torque ripple. Single-phase SRM has simple mechanical and electrical structure, robust and high speed operation characteristic. But conventional SRM drive with diode bridge rectifier and filter capacitor has a low power factor because of short charge time of capacitor. Therefore, this paper presents a novel single-phase SRM drive with single-stage structure circuit, which can improve the power factor and reduce peak torque ripple. A novel switching topology is presented base on mathematical analysis. The novel drive method is verified by simulations and experiments.

  • This paper proposes a novel current compensation technique that can eliminate the harmonic currents included in line currents without computation of harmonic current components. A current controller with fast dynamics for an active filter is described. Harmonic currents are directly controlled without the need for sensing and computing the harmonic current of the load current, thus simplifying the control system. Current compensation is done in the time domain, allowing a fast time response. The DC voltage control loop keeps the voltage across the DC capacitor constant. High power factor control by an active filter is described. All control functions are implemented in software using a single-chip microcontroller, thus simplifying the control circuit. Any current-controlled synchronous rectifier can be used as a shunt active filter through only the simple modification of the software and the addition of current sensors. It is shown through experimental results that the proposed controller gives good performance for the shunt active filter.

  • This paper describes a new voltage recorder for the voltage management of a power distribution line by using a new voltage measurement technique. The RMS(Root Mean Square) voltage measurement for the power line under the assumption of a sinusoidal input voltage is taken by the full-wave rectifier, half-adder utilizing operational amplifier(OP) circuit. A/D converter utilizing a dual slope converter converts an analog voltage signal into a serial pulse. The pulse is counted with a single chip micro-controller, converted with the RMS voltage, and saved into a flash memory. In the last, a new voltage recorder with compact size and multifunction is developed. Also, Voltage Management System that can analyze the stored data via RS-232C cable is developed based on Windows 95 and Visual C++.

  • Ceramic metal halide lamps have been widely used due to long lifetime, high luminous efficiency and good colour rendering. In this paper, we developed dimming control system of electronic ballast for 70W ceramic metal halide lamp by using 1-10V interface. The proposed electronic ballast is consists of EMI filter, Full-wave rectifier, Active PFC, DBI(Dual Buck Inverter), Igniter and control circuit.It enables to supply both low-frequency rectangular wave voltage and current to the lamp by using DBI(Dual Bcuk Inverter) structure. By using 1-10V interface, the system that able to dimming the lamp is demonstrated by P-spice simulation and experimental results.

  • This paper describes a converter, which combines SCR bridge type rectifier circuit with a rotating distributor. This type of converter produces an adjustable low frequency output of three phase or single phase, from three phase or single phase power source. Output-waveforms of this converter are multi-pulse in three phase output, and square wave in single phase output. Problems about the operation of static switches, a commutation and output-waveforms are investigated, and experimental results verify that frequency can be adjusted satisfactorily from zero to 20 (Hz) and the expected output-waveforms are obtained without sparking on the distributor under various loading conditions. This converter can be utilized to low speed control of A.C. motors, and other lowfrequency loads.

  • A single phase voltage-controlled active power filter(APF) is introduced to improve power quality and to reduce harmonic generated from nolinear loads. Real and reactive power control scheme was addressed using a new power circuit model. By analyzing the reactive power, a unit power factor control scheme was proposed. Simulation and experiment results using a nonlinear diode rectifier showed that the voltage-controlled APF, unlike the current-controlled APF, can reduce the voltage harmonics as well as current harmonics. Also the results showed that the input power factor was greatly improved.

  • In this study, the design of low voltage DC-DC converter with low triggering ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) protection circuit was investigated. The purpose of this paper is design optimization for low voltage(2.5V to 5.5V input range) DC-DC converter using CMOS switch. In CMOS switch environment, a dominant loss component is not switching loss but conduction loss at 1.2MHz switching frequency. In this study a constant frequency PWM converter with synchronous rectifier is used. And zener Triggered SCR device to protect the ESD phenomenon was designed. This structure reduces the trigger voltage by making the zener junction between the lateral PNP and base of lateral NPN in SCR structure. The triggering voltage was simulated to 8V.

  • The diode characteristics for therapy radiation sensor have been studied by irradiating therapy radiation from the MM22 microtron accelerator. Signal processing has been performed in the pulse mode which can process the signal fast. We have designed integrator, peak detector and synchronization circuit to detect diode signal in the pulse mode for implementation of portal image. We also read the diode signal by A/D board and displayed the peak value with LabView program. Because the quality of portal image obtained by film in the case of therapy radiation is much worse than that of diagnostic film, Digital radiography system by rectifier diode detector was suggested for portal Image.

  • In this paper the multiple three rectifiers for the power factor correction are proposed, analyzed and designed. The multiple three phase rectifiers draw sinusoidal ac currents from the ac voltage sources with nearly unity input power factor and operate with PWM making the control circuit simple and system cost low. Outstandingly it reduces the rated power capacity of devices and the input filter size by reducing input current ripples. Moreover design rules can be obtained from input and output current equations. With the proposed rules, input power factor and output power capacity are determined approximately. Finally these design rules are verified with computer simulations.

  • Bidirectional DC-DC converters allow transfer of power between two dc sources, in either direction. Due to their ability to reverse the direction of flow of power, Dey are being increasingly used in many applications such as battery charge/dischargers, do uninterruptible power supplies, electrical vehicle motor drives, aerospace power systems, telecom power supplies, etc. This Paper Proposes a new bidirectional Sepic/Zeta converter. It has low switching loss and low conduction loss due to auxiliary communicated circuit and synchronous rectifier operation, respectively Because of positive and buck/boost-like DC voltage transfer function(M=D/1-D), the proposed converter is very desirable for use in distributed power system. The proposed converter also has both transformer-less version and transformer one.
