의류웹사이트 특성과 충동구매행동의 상관관계에 관한 연구 (The Role of Website Characteristics on Impulse Buying)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 의류판매 온라인 쇼핑몰 상에서의 충동구매행동과 의류판매 사이트의 프로모션, 제품/정책 정보간의 관계를 알아보기 위한 것이다. 인터넷 설문지를 통한 데이터 수집을 통해 236부가 본 연구에 사용되었다. 결과 분석 이전에 웹사이트특성을 분류하기 위해 요인분석을 실한 결과 웹사이트 특성이 프로모션과 제품/정책 정보로 구분되었다. 연구결과 충동구매를 한 집단의 의류판매 사이트의 프로모션과 제품/정책 정보에 대한 평가가 그렇지 않은 집단보다 높게 나타났고 충동구매집단의 충동구매성향과 의류판매 사이트의 프로모션, 제품/정책 정보에 대한 평가는 정적인 상관관계를 가지는 것으로 나타났다.

Adolescents' Perceptions Regarding Effective Tobacco Use Prevention Strategies for their Younger Counterparts: A Qualitative Study in Malaysia

  • Purpose:The present qualitative study explored adolescents' perceptions regarding effective strategies to prevent adolescents from using tobacco products (TP). Apart from the commercial TPs, there has been emerging use of alternatives such as vapes, e-cigarettes and shisha. This unfortunate phenomenon continues despite the currently available preventive strategies. Thus, understanding of the perceptions of the current generation would be valuable to provide new insights. Methods: Purposive sampling was utilized to recruit 40 adolescents between the age of 15 and 16 years old attending public daily secondary schools. Eight focus group discussions were conducted among the TP users, ex-users and non-users. Data were analyzed using a thematic content analysis procedure with NVivo. Results: Among barriers with the currently available strategies were having teachers who smoke tobacco, addiction to nicotine and self-perceptions of being healthy. The content of any program should include knowledge on negative outcomes of using tobacco products and awareness of the legislation together with ways to overcome peer and family influence including improving self-efficacy and refusal skills. Strategies were suggested to be delivered using information technology which provides interactive learning and visual effects. Conclusions: Adolescents agreed that the content and delivery of tobacco use prevention strategies need to be revised to suit the current generation to ensure sustainability.

β-arrestin Promotes c-Jun N-terminal Kinase Mediated Apoptosis via a GABABR·β-arrestin·JNK Signaling Module

  • Evidence is growing that the $GABA_B$ receptor, which belongs to the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) superfamily, is involved in tumorigenesis. Recent studies have shown that ${\beta}$-arrestin can serve as a scaffold to recruit signaling protein c-Jun N-terminal knase (JNK) to GPCR. Here we investigated whether ${\beta}$-arrestin recruits JNK to the $GABA_B$ receptor and facilitates its activation to affect the growth of cancer cells. Our results showed that ${\beta}$-arrestin expression is decreased in breast cancer cells in comparison with controls. ${\beta}$-arrestin could enhance interactions of the $GABA_BR{\cdot}{\beta}-arrestin{\cdot}JNK$ signaling module in MCF-7 and T-47D cells. Further studies revealed that increased expression of ${\beta}$-arrestin enhances the phosphorylation of JNK and induces cancer cells apoptosis. Collectively, these results indicate that ${\beta}$-arrestin promotes JNK mediated apoptosis via a $GABA_BR{\cdot}{\beta}-arrestin{\cdot}JNK$ signaling module.

Does the Fit of Managerial Ability with Firm Strategy Matters on Firm Performance

  • The study aims to answer why the previous studies find the positive or insignificant effect of the CEO's abilities on firm performance. Using 34,285 CEO-firm-year panel data from the U.S. publicly traded firms drawn from the BoardEx and EXECUXOMP database during from 1992 to 2014, the results show that the fit of the CEO's generality or specialist ability with firm strategy matters on firm performance and risk. This study computes a discrete STRATEGY composite measure to construct firm strategy types, such as Prospect or Defend and use CEOs' résumés to construct an index of general skills that are transferable across firms and industries. The results find that generalist CEOs are more suitable for prospectors than specialist CEOs. Firm performance is much better when specialist CEOs work for Defenders. Although the firm performance is better too for the generalist CEOs who fit for the Prospect strategy, the firm's risk is up too. The result suggests that firms need to consider their chosen business strategy to recruit and select CEOs Our findings provide direct evidence that the match between CEO's ability and the firm's strategy is crucial to firm performance and risk.

D대학 사례를 중심으로 한 전문대학 중도탈락 개선 방안 (Measures to reduce Students' Withdrawal Rate : a case study on College D)

  • 전문대학의 재학생 충원율은 갈수록 문제가 되고 있다. 특히, 중도탈락률의 증가는 전문대학을 심각한 위기로 몰고 있어도 속수무책인 상황이다. 왜냐하면, 중도탈락 가능성이 높은 학생들이 입학한 상태에서는 기존의 어떠한 방법도 중도탈락을 방지하기란 어렵기 때문이다. 따라서 본 연구는 중도탈락을 미연에 방지할 수 있는 새로운 방안을 모색하는데 목적을 두었다. 이를 위해 D대학의 입학전형별 중도탈락 실태를 파악한 후, 그 결과를 입학전형 방법과 절차에 반영함으로써 중도탈락을 개선하는 방법을 제시하였다. 또한, 입학전형별로 대학생활 만족도와 중도 탈락률 간 비교를 통해 중도탈락률을 개선하는 방법도 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 제안한 방법은 전문대학의 중도탈락률을 개선하는데 유효하게 적용될 것으로 기대한다.

A new function of glucocorticoid receptor: regulation of mRNA stability

  • It has long been thought that glucocorticoid receptor (GR) functions as a DNA-binding transcription factor in response to its ligand (a glucocorticoid) and thus regulates various cellular and physiological processes. It is also known that GR can bind not only to DNA but also to mRNA; this observation points to the possible role of GR in mRNA metabolism. Recent data revealed a molecular mechanism by which binding of GR to target mRNA elicits rapid mRNA degradation. GR binds to specific RNA sequences regardless of the presence of a ligand. In the presence of a ligand, however, the mRNA-associated GR can recruit PNRC2 and UPF1, both of which are specific factors involved in nonsense-mediated mRNA decay (NMD). PNRC2 then recruits the decapping complex, consequently promoting mRNA degradation. This mode of mRNA decay is termed "GR-mediated mRNA decay" (GMD). Further research demonstrated that GMD plays a critical role in chemotaxis of immune cells by targeting CCL2 mRNA. All these observations provide molecular insights into a previously unappreciated function of GR in posttranscriptional regulation of gene expression. [BMB Reports 2015; 48(7): 367-368]

A Knowledge Workers Acquisition Problem under Expanding and Volatile Demand: An Application of the Korean Information Security Service Industry

  • The aim of this paper is to consider the process of supplying trained workers with knowledge and skills for upcoming business opportunities and the process of training apprentices to be prepared to meet future demands in an IT service firm. As the demand for new workers fluctuates, a firm should employ a buffer workforce such as apprentices or interns. However, as a result of rapid business development, the capacity of the buffer may be exceeded, thus requiring the company to recruit skilled workers from outside the firm. Therefore, it is important for a firm to map out a strategy for manpower planning so as to fulfill the demands of new business and minimize the operation costs related to training apprentices and recruiting experienced workers. First, this paper analyzes the supply and demand of workers for the IT service in a knowledge-intensive field. It then presents optimal human resource planning strategies via the familiar method of stochastic process. Also, we illustrate that our model is applied to the human resource planning of an information security service firm in South Korea.

The Ongoing Effect of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation on both the Hemispheres: Single Case fMRI Study

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate whether dual-hemisphere transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) could induce more cortical activity, compared to single-hemisphere, using functional MRI (fMRI). Methods: One right-handed healthy subject was recruited. Three phases of dual-hemisphere tDCS (i.e. anodal tDCS over the left-dominant primary sensoriomotor cortex (SM1) and cathodal tDCS over the right-non dominant SM(1) were consecutively delivered on to a subject, during fMRI scanning. The voxel count and the intensity index in the averaged cortical map were analyzed among the three tDCS phases. Results: Our result showed that cortical activation was observed on all the three phases of the dual-hemisphere tDCS. Voxel count and intensity index were as following; 912 and 4.07 in the first phase, 1102 and 3.90 in the second phase, 1031 and 3.80 in the third phase. Conclusion: This study demonstrated that application of the dual-hemisphere tDCS could induce cortical activity and maintain to recruit cortical neurons. Our findings suggested that application of dual-hemisphere tDCS could produce efficiency of the ongoing tDCS effect to facilitate cortical excitability.

화재 현장 소방관 구출을 위한 긴급대응팀 운영실태에 관한 연구 (The Use of Rapid Intervention Crew in Korean Fire Service)

  • Objectives: Rapid Intervention Crews (RIC) are indispensable for rescuing firefighters who are lost or trapped. They are included in Disaster Scene Standard Operating Procedures. This study was conducted to examine the use of RIC at emergency scenes in South Korea. Methods: We conducted a nationwide survey of 4,913 firefighters in South Korea. The firefighters' experiences of use of RICs were assessed by asking, "How often are RICs available at fires?" Results: A full 40.8% of firefighters answered that they 'never' have RICs available at fires. Another 8.4% responded that they 'always' have RICs available, which is much lower than the rate among US firefighters (19.9%). RICs are available more often for firefighters in the capital area than for firefighters outside the capital area (13.4% vs. 5.1%, p<0.001). The larger the jurisdiction served, the more likely the firefighters were to have RICs available (p<0.001). Conclusions: These results imply that firefighters in South Korea are at risk. It is necessary to recruit personnel to improve the use of RICs and to explicitly include RICs in SOPs, training, and business plans.

신병 초도보급품 지급 자동화 방안 (The Operation Scheme of Automated Supplies Distribution System for New Military Recruits)

  • Every year, about 250,000 new recruits enter the military under the R.O.K military draft system. When the fresh soldier groups arrived at the Recruit Training Center, their supplies are distributed before they get basic military training. The supplies are divided by season, summer and winter. There are 14 class of summer items and 20 class of winter items, and the each class has about a few kinds of items. Totally, there are the hundreds kinds of supplies and the supplies distribution system is manually operated. However, in the current system, many problems such as spending a lot of time, manpower and high change rate due to the inaccurate distribution have been raised. This paper suggests the automated supplies distribution system to solve the above problems. We choose the appropriate facilities in the system by using the AHP(Analytic Hierarchy Process) and analyse the operating efficiency of the new system by simulation. The new suggested system shows about $39.25\%$ improvement in throughput and 3.75 times reduction of manpower compared to the current system.
