Decreased Complete Oxidation Capacity of Fatty Acid in the Liver of Ketotic Cowsa

  • Complete oxidation of fatty acid in the liver of ketotic cows was investigated. Serum non-esterified fatty acid (NEFA), beta-hydroxybutyric acid (BHBA) and glucose concentrations were measured using biochemical techniques. Carnitine palmitoyl transferase II (CPT II), 3-hydroxy acyl-CoA dehydrogenase (HAD) and oxaloacetic acid (OAA) concentrations in the liver were detected by ELISA. Serum glucose was lower in ketotic cows than controls (p<0.05). Serum BHBA and NEFA concentrations were higher in ketotic cows than controls (p<0.05). OAA, CPT II, and HAD contents in the liver of ketotic cows were lower than in controls (p<0.05). There were negative correlations between serum NEFA concentration and OAA, CPT II and HAD, but no correlation between serum BHBA concentration and capacity for complete oxidation of fatty acid. Overall, the capacity for complete fatty acid oxidation in the liver of ketotic cows might have been decreased. High serum NEFA concentrations may be unfavorable factors for the pathway of complete oxidation of fatty acid in the liver.

해안 매립지에서 과거 해안선의 산정 (II): 해안선변화 분석 (Estimation of Historical Shorelines on a Coastal Reclaimed Land (II) : Shoreline Change Analysis)

  • 본 연구는 우리나라 남동 해안에 위치한 매립지(안정국가산업단지, 명지주거단지 및 녹산국가산업단지)에서 해안빈지 면적 산출을 위하여 항공사진으로부터 매립이전의 해안선을 조사하는 연구의 일환으로 수행되었다. 매립 이전 해안선의 적합성을 평가하고자 해안선변화자료를 구축하였다. 2차적인 지상기준점으로 오래된 항공사진의 항공삼각측량을 수행하였다. 해안선은 약최고고조위(AHHWL)에 해당하는 해안선과 wet/dry 흔적에 의한 고조선(HWL)을 도화하였다. 인공적인 해안에서 두 종류의 해안선은 잘 일치하였다. 항공사진 축척, 품질, 지상기준점 선정, 해안선 인식 등 세부적인 차이로 인하여 해안선변화자료는 다양한 오차수준으로 구성되었다. 정성적인 해안선변화 추이를 살펴보는 수준에서 매립 이전 해안선의 적합성은 만족할 만하였다. 본 연구지역에서 매립 이전의 해안선 변화는 대부분이 연안개발로 발생하였다. 항공사진과 연계하여 해안선의 속성을 파악함으로써 해안선 변화에 대한 이해가 가능하였다.

매립지반 지하공동구의 수평이동원인에 대한 수치해석적 분석 (Numerical Analysis of Utility Tunnel Movement under Reclamation Ground)

  • Recently reclamation land is largely developed to utilize the land according to economic growth. The soil of landfill is soft, low shear strength, which makes it difficult to use the equipment. A large movement is occurred on the utility tunnel under construction. The inclined land with high water level and underground facilities are widely distributed and the excess pore water pressure may occur under construction similarly to this study. Some different conditions are made to design result, such as 4m of soil piling near the construction area, heavy rainfall during 2nd excavation that may cause flow liquefaction. To analyze the cause of transverse lateral movement, Three dimensional analysis are performed to four load cases, which is original design condition, flow liquefaction by heavy rainfall, unsymmetric lateral soil pressure, and both of them simultaneously. Ten steps of full construction stage, 1st excavation for utility tunnel, construction of utility tunnel, 1st refill, piling soil from 1m to 4 m, 2nd excavation for drainage culvert, liquefaction around the utility tunnel, construction of drainage culvert and 2nd refill, are take into account to investigate the cause of movement.

대규모 해안매립에 따른 기상장 변동의 수치해석 (A Numerical Analysis of Regional Atmospheric Circulation with Large Scale Reclamation of Coastal Region)

  • Three dimensional numerical experiments that included the land-use transformation by the large scale reclamation were used to investigate the mesoscale air flow over the coastal regions. In this paper the surface temperature of the inland was determined through the surface heat budget consideration with inclusion of a layer of vegetation. The vertical diffusion coefficients of momentum, heat and specific humidity in the constant flux layer were taken from the Mellor and Yamada(1975). It has shown that the resulting model is able to reproduce the air circulation in coastal regions, and the simulated characteristics agree with the known properties of this circulation. A series of numerical experiments were then carried out to investigate the diurnal response of the air flow to various types of surface inhomogeneities.

인공위성 화상자료를 이용한 북한의 간척자원 조사 (Investigation on Tideland Reclamation Projects in North Korea using Satellite Image Data)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate on tideland recalamation project as a part of situation on farm land improvement measures in North Korea. By using satelite image data beyond the national boundaries, it makes possbile to analyze tideland reclamation projects, and owing to the developed software and procedure we can analyze data regardless of difference in data acquistion date. Satellite image data LANDSAT JEARS-1 data are mainly used, and analyzing software ER Mapper, ERDAS , IDRISI are used . Reclamation survey result made by the ministry of unification in 1994 were examined by means of remote sensing using satellite image data. The results are ; Completed and/or partly completed project are 24, 596ha and planned are about 142, 223 ha, 166, 819 ha in total. However, they already reported about 300 thousand ha would be reclamined from the sea in early 1980.

  • Reclamation coal ash, which is generated as a byproduct at a coal thermal power plant is not recycled but dumped into an ash landfill disposal site. Furthermore, various byproducts and wastes have been proposed for use from the point of reduction in the environmental load. Authors have started research to develope manufacturing technology of concrete mixture design method with large amount of land reclamation coal ash. In this study an optimum mix proportion design for utilizing the reclamation coal ash and containing copper slags as an aggregate for secondary concrete products such as a wave dissipating blocks was successfully developed.

  • Land was reclaimed at the waterfront in the Pluit area of Jakarta for a 90ha residential-cum-recreational development. The reclamation works involve construction of permanent and temporary dykes, fill placement, soil improvement, dredging of internal canals and marina, and construction of canal revetment. The site lies on 16m to 18m thick soft seabed deposits. Settlement of the reclaimed areas will result as a consequence of consolidation of the soft underlying sediments. In order to reduce post-construction settlement to within acceptable levels, a system of vertical drains and preloading was adopted. This paper describes the use of Fibredrain, a prefabricated vertical drain made of jute and coir fibres developed at the National University of Singapore, in the soil improvement works and a secondary use in the construction of perimeter dykes for the reclamation works. The construction of the perimeter dyke must be carried out in such a way that slope stability is on ensured. Bamboo rafts and bamboo clusters with Fibredrain inserted, and stage construction were employed to improve stability during the dyke formation for the Pantai Mutiara project.

간척지(于拓地)의 잡초발생(雜草發生) 및 분포의 식물사회학적(植物社會學的) 해석연구(解析硏究) (Weed Distribution and Its Plant Sociological Aspects on the Polder Land)

  • 간척지(干拓地)의 개답년차(開沓年次) 진전(進展)에 따른 합리적(合理的) 잡초방제안(雜草防除案)을 구명(究明)하기 위한 기초자료(基礎資料)를 얻을 목적(目的)으로 계화도간척지(界火島干拓地) 지표분석(指標分析)을 하였다. 결과(結果)는 다음과 같이 요약(要約)할 수 있었다. 1. 조사지(調査地)의 토양염분온도(土壤鹽分濃度)는 대부분(大部分) 0.2% 이하(以下)로, pH는 5.5~6.5의 범위(範圍)로 변동(變動)되어 있었다. 2. 조사지(調査地)의 발생초종(發生草種)은 17종(種)으로서 매자기가 우점(優占)하고 있었으나 숙답화(熟畓化)와 함께 물달개비 쇠털골 알방동산이 등의 출현(出現)이 증가(增加)하는 경향(傾向)이었다. 3. 염온도(鹽溫度)가 낮아지고 pH가 5.5~6.5 범위(範圍)로 가까워질수록 발생초종수(發生草種數), 발생본수(發生本數), Biomass, 종다양도(種多樣度), 균재도(均在度), Sociability index가 커지는 반면에 군락특이도(群落特異度)는 작아지는 경향(傾向)이 있다. 4. 숙답화(熟沓化)가 진전(進展)될수록 온도잡초(溫度雜草), 다년생사초과(多年生莎草科), 근경횡주형(根 莖橫走型)의 잡초종(雜草種)이 줄고 일년생광엽잡초(一年生廣葉雜草)로서 풍수전파형(風水傳播型) 단립형(單立型)의 잡초종(雜草種)이 늘어가는 경향(傾向)이었다. 5. 숙답화(熟畓化)에 따른 잡초종(雜草種)의 천이(遷移) 다양화(多樣化) 다량화(多量化)가 예상되며 이에 대한 식생수준(植生水準) 및 유입전파(流入傳播)의 예방 대책이 요구(要求)될 것으로 판단(判斷)되었다.
