The purpose of this paper is comparatively to evaluate the confidence of Vehicle-Detector informations for various detectors in order to test to be possible the application of these to real time traffic signal control. The detectors which are tested for this study are Circle-Shaped Loop, Ultrasonic, Microwave and Image detector. The tested items for each detectors are traffic volume, degree of saturation for through and left turn movement, speed and queue length, etc. These items for each are tested at the field according to several situations, such as dry day, raining day, night and daytime. The result of these tests are performed comparative analysis and statistical examination in order to increase the confidence of the experiments.
This study estimated the delay factor, which is the ratio of travel time at the speed limit and travel time at the actual speed using real-time traffic information in Seoul. The actual travel speed on the road was lower than the maximum speed of the road and the travel speed was the slowest during the rush hour. As a result of accessibility analysis based on travel speed during the rush hour, the travel time at the actual speed was 37.49 minutes on average. However, the travel time at the speed limit was 15.70 minutes on average. This result indicated that the travel time at the actual speed is 2.4 times longer than that at the speed limit. In addition, this study proposedly defined the delay factor as the ratio of accessibility by the speed limit and accessibility to actual travel speed. As a result of delay factor analysis, the delay factor of Seoul was 2.44. The results by the administrative district showed that the delay factor in the north part areas of the Han River is higher than her south part areas. Analysis results after applying the relationship between road density and traffic volume showed that as the traffic volume with road density increased, the delay factor decreased. These results indicated that it could not be said that heavy traffic caused longer travel time. Therefore, follow-up research is needed based on more detailed information such as road system shape, road width, and signal system for finding the exact cause of increased travel time.
To device effective freeway traffic flow control strategies and freeway traffic information dissemination strategies, it is very important to estimate real physical queue length on the freeway. Shock wave theory and queueing theory have limitation to be used to estimate the queue length. The primary objective of this study is to develop a reliable method for estimating the physical queue length and level of congestion. Queueing propagation processes were analysed by using such traffic data as main line traffic volume, ramp volume, density. speed, and physical queue length collected by video photographing on Olympic Freeway. As a result of analysis, it has been confirmed that the real queue length can be estimated by using the traffic counts arriving the congested region and passing a bottleneck location. Further more, a reliable method for estimating the level of congestion could be developed on the basis of real-time traffic counts.
The conventional traffic light loses the function of optimal traffic signal cycle. And so, 30-45% of conventional traffic signal cycle is not matched to the present traffic signal cycle. In this paper proposes electro sensitive traffic light using fuzzy rules which will reduce the average vehicle waiting time and improve average vehicle speed. This paper is researching the storing method of 40 different kinds of sensor input conditions. Such as, car speed, delay· in starting time and the volume of cars in the real traffic situation. It will estimate the optimal green time in the 10 different intersections using Intelligent fuzzy method. Computer simulation results prove that reducing the average vehicle waiting time and offset better than fixed signal method which doesn't consider vehicle length.
Even though there have been many efforts on driver's route recommendation, driver still should get involved to choose the driving path in a manual manner. Uncertain traffic information provided to the driver delays his arrival time and hence may cause diminished economic values. One of the solutions of reducing the uncertainty is to provide various kinds of traffic information, rather than send real-time information. Therefore, as the wireless communication technology improves and at the same time volume of utilizable traffic contents increases in geometrical progression, selecting traffic information based on driver's context in a timely and individual manner will be needed. Hence, the purpose of this paper is to propose a methodology that efficiently sends the rich traffic contents to the personal in-vehicle navigation. To do so, driver preference is modeled and then the recommendation algorithm of traffic information contents was developed using the preference model. Secondly, ontology based traffic situation analyzation method is suggested to automatically inference the noticeable information from the traffic context on driver's route. To show the feasibility of the idea proposed in this paper, an open API service is implemented in consideration of ease of use.
Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) area presents a complex traffic pattern due to ships entering or leaving the port to utilize port facilities, as well as ships passing through the coastal area. To ensure safe and efficient management of maritime traffic, VTS operators continuously monitor and control vessels in real time. However, during periods of high traffic congestion, the workload of VTS operators increases, which can result in delayed or inadequate VTS services. Therefore, it would be beneficial to predict traffic congestion and congested areas to enable more efficient traffic control. Currently, such prediction relies on the experience of VTS operators. In this paper, we defined vessel traffic congestion from the perspective of a VTS operator. We proposed a method to generate traffic networks using historical navigational data and predict traffic congestion and congested areas. Experiments were performed to compare prediction results with real maritime data (Daesan port VTS) and examine whether the proposed method could support VTS operators.

The Variable Message Signs (VMS) are useful way to reduce the socio-economic costs due to the traffic congestions and delays by providing the information on traffic condition to drivers. This study provided a methodology to determine the locations of VMS's in terms of the minimization of the delay by applying the genetic algorithm. The optimal number of VMS's was also derived by the economic analysis based on the cost and the benefit. The simulation considered the variation of traffic volume, the frequency and duration of the incident, and the traffic conversion in order to reflect the real situation. I've made a scenario to consider traffic volume and incident, and it can undergo through changing different traffic volume and incident in time and days and seasons. And I've comprised two kinds of result, one is based on empirical studies, the other is based on Genetic Algorithm about optimal allocation VMS. This result of using optimal location VMS, reduce total travel time rather than preceding study based on normal location VMS and we can estimate optimal location VMS each one.

The characteristics of ship traffic routes and the long term fluctuation in marine traf ic volume of the incoming and outgoing routes of the Yeosu Gwangyang Port were analyzed using vessel traffic data from the past 22 years and a real-time vessel traffic volume survey performed for 72 hours per year, for three years, between 2015 and 2017. As of 2017, the number of vessels passing through Yeosu Gwangyang Port was about 66,000 and the total tonnage of these ships was about 804,564 thousand tons, which is a 400 % increase from the 189,906 thousand tons shipped in 1996. Specifically, the dangerous cargo volume was 140,000 thousand tons, which is a 250 % increase compared to 1996. According to the real-time vessel traffic volume survey, the average daily number of vessels was 357, and traf ic route utilization rates were 28.1 % in the Nakpo sea area, 43.8 % in the specified sea area, and the coastal area traf ic route, Dolsan coastal area, and Kumhodo sea area showed the same rate of 6.8 %. Many routes meet in the Nakpo sea area and, parallel and cross passing were frequent. Many small work vessels entered the specific sea area from the neighboring coastal area traffic route and frequently intersected the path of larger vessels. The anchorage waiting rate for cargo ships was about 24 %, and the nightly passing rate for dangerous cargo ships such as chemical vessels and tankers was about 20 %. Although the vessel traffic volume of Yeosu Gwangyang Port increases every year, the vessel traffic routes remain the same. Therefore, the risk of accidents is constantly increasing. The route conditions must be improved by dredging and expanding the available routes to reduce the high risk of ship accidents due to overlapping routes, by removing reefs, and by reinforcing navigational aids. In addition, the entry and exit time for dangerous cargo ships at high-risk ports must be strictly regulated. Advancements in the VTS system can help to actively manage the traffic of small vessels using the coastal area traffic route.
Based on the traffic and accident data collected on a 4.2km (2.6mile) section of Interstate highway 35W in Minneapolis the relationship between traffic operation variables and safety measures is investigated. An aggregate specification that could be integrated into an urban freeway safety prediction methodology is proposed as a multiple regression model. The specification includes lane occupancy and volume data, which are the control parameters commonly used because they can be measured in real time. The primary variables that appear to affect the safety of urban freeway are : vehicle-miles of travel, entrance ramp volumes and the dynamic effect of queue building. The potential benefits of freeway traffic control strategies on freeway safety are also investigated via a simulation study. It was concluded that improvement of urban freeway safety is achievable by traffic control strategies which homogenize traffic conditions areound critical occupancy values.

This paper suggests a user based OST(Open Street Traffic) system that solves TPEG's one-way communication problem, UTIS's limited usage and DSRC's small traffic bandwidth. In current commercial TPEG service, only some service providers collect traffic information. Thus, it can't cover traffic status in local lanes And UTIS, which local governments and police supports, requires additional equipments. Currently, only taxi and official vehicles use this system. Therefore, new traffic service by mobile device and user's participation can provide very detail traffic information coupling with previous traffic systems. But in this new system, real-time high volume data can be a problem. So, in this paper, new data storage manager design(TDSM :Traffic Data Storage Manager) is suggested and its performance is measured against commercial DBMS.
