CCD Pixel Correction Table Generation for MSC

  • Not all CCD pixels generate uniform value for the uniform radiance due to the different process of manufacture and each pixel characteristics. And the image data compression is essential in the real time image transmission because of the high line rate and the limited RF bandwidth. This pixel's nonuniformity and the loss compression make CCD pixel correction necessary in on-orbit condition. In the MSC system, the NUC unit, which is a part of MSC PMU, is charge of the correction for CCD each pixel. The correction is performed with the gain and the offset table for the each pixel and the each TDI mode. These correction tables are generated and programmed in the PMU Flash memory through the various image data tests at the ground test. Besides, they can be uploaded from ground station after onorbit calibration. This paper describes the principle of the table generation and the test way of the non-uniformity after NUC

  • Frame Synchronization is applied to not only digital data transmission for data synchronization between transmitter and receiver but also data communication with satellite. When satellite image data with high resolution and mass storage is transmitted, hardware frame synchronizer for real-time processing or software frame synchronizer for post-processing is used. In case of hardware, processing with high speed is available but data loss may happen for Search of Frame Synchronization. In case of software, data loss does not happen but speed is relatively slow. In this paper, Pending Buffer concept was proposed to cope with data loss according to processing status of Frame Synchronization. Algorithm to process Frame synchronization with high speed using bit threshold search algorithm with pattern search technique and SIMD is also proposed.

  • This paper relates to a system for pre-processing high-definition images acquired through a camera mounted on an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV) and transmitting them to a server through a mobile communication network. In the case of the existing UAV system for image acquisition service, the acquired image was stored in the external storage device of the camera mounted on the UAV, and the image was checked by directly moving the storage device after the flight was completed. In the case of this method, there is a limitation in that it is impossible to check whether image acquisition or pre-processing is properly performed before directly checking image data through an external storage device. In addition, since the data is stored only in an external storage device, there is a disadvantage that data sharing is cumbersome. In this paper, to solve the above problems, we propose a system that can remotely check images in real time. Furthermore, we propose a system and method capable of performing pre-processing such as geo-tagging and transmission through a mobile communication network in addition to image acquisition through shooting in an UAV.

  • This paper proposes a real-time multi-camera video surveillance system with automatic resolution control using motion detection. In ordinary times, it acquires 4 channels of QVGA images, and it merges them into single VGA image and transmit it. When motion is detected, it automatically increases the resolution of motion-occurring channel to VGA and decreases those of 3 other channels to QQVGA, and then these images are overlaid and transmitted. Thus, it can magnifies and watches the motion-occurring channel while maintaining transmission bandwidth and monitoring all other channels. When it is synthesized with 0.18 um technology, the maximum operating frequency is 110 MHz, which can theoretically support 4 HD cameras.

  • In this paper, we propose smart digital door lock system using heterogeneous communication. This system has efficient function using RF communication and Internet communication, and realizes access and real image of the passengers by combining camera control technology to secure original competitiveness with existing products. It uses the Internet of things and receive images to and from your smart-phone. And senses human behavior. In the simulated results, the image transmission rate of 90 % or more and the time required to transmit 10,000 images have an average transmission speed of 3 seconds. It is expected to secure competitiveness to increase the security of door lock in the future by enabling minimum security and fire monitoring service in real time.

  • Informations of multimedia centering in the images, are combined acoustic and letter, etc. Although the network advances and the capacity of the storage media extends, these huge informations will not be able to accommodate. From meaning which is like this, International standards for the compression and a multiplexing of image, acoustic and voice H261 where admits standard, JPEG, JBIG, MPEG-l, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and H263, G series etc, are core techniques of multimedia. At initial step of the base technique which creates the base of like this multimedia service time, we developed the real-time MPEG-4 transmission systems to provides real-time MPEG-4 multimedia services. This system means becomes the base technique which hereafter is developed and is applied various system. This system Will be able to apply from a videoconference, a building protection system and a VOD video system to use the Internet. And, They, the image sensing, embedded linux, and MPEG4 software, will become sourceful technique to develop the different system.

  • In this paper, we propose interface circuits for reducing power consumption and EMI when sequences of data from LCD controller to LCD driver IC by transmitting two bit data during one clock period. The proposed circuits are operated in current mode, which is different from conventional voltage-mode signaling techniques, and also employ threshold technique of Modified-LVDS(Low Voltage Differential Signaling) method. We have simulated the proposed circuits using H-SPICE tool for performance analysis of the proposed method. The simulation results show that the proposed circuits provide a faster transmission speed and stronger noise immunity than the conventional LVDS circuits. It might be suitable for the real-time transmission of huge image data in LCD system.

A New Proposal of Extended BTC for Picture Data Compression (영상압축을 위한 확장된 BTC의 새로운 제안)

  • This paper proposes a new EBTC(extended block truncation coding) algorithm extended from the BTC for image compression. The EBTC has a capability to eliminate the defects of BTC, such as the deterioration of resolution or blocky effect,and to make a real-time processing like BTC. It shows better performances than the DPCM and the transform coding. Especially, it is a suitable coding method for the high quality picture transmission. It may be adequate to the system of transmission rate of 30-50 Mbits/sec. The picture quality has been scarecely degraded with a vector quantization to the EBTC output at the bit rate of 1.25 bits/pel. The bit rate of the scalar quantized EBTC method is 2.6-3.7 bits/pel.

  • The size of raw data has dramatically increased due to the recent trend of Synthetic Aperture Radar(SAR) development plans for high resolution and high definition image acquisition. The large raw data has an impact on satellite operability due to the limitations of storage and transmission capacity. To improve the SAR operability, the SAR raw data shall be compressed before transmission to the ground station. The Block Adaptive Quantization (BAQ) algorithm is one of the data compression algorithm and has been used for a long time in the spaceborne SAR system. In this paper, an optimization method of BAQ threshold table is introduced using real SAR raw data to prevent the degradation of signal quality caused by data compression. In this manner, a new variation estimation strategy and a new threshold method for block type decision are introduced.

  • Mixed Reality (MR) shows a composite image of a virtual object in the real world. It has been applied to various fields by the introduction of head mounted display (HMD) such as Microsoft's Hololens [1-3]. The virtual studio in broadcasting combines the contents created by computer graphics with the actual set to reproduce the 3D image screen. This requires physical space such as a set of chroma keys. It also requires professional knowledge and manpower and costly equipment to post-process the graphics and information for long periods of time. Therefore, in this paper, we aim to study the implementation of virtual studio based on Mixed Reality using Microsoft Hololens. Through the implementation of 'Holo-studio' application, realistic and virtual objects of broadcasting camera viewpoint were acquired at the same time. Using Microsoft's spectator view library, the frame rate is degraded in objects with high polygons (100,000 polygons). The proposed method maintains 60 fps image transmission in high polygon objects. The results of this paper show the possibility of using virtual studio at low cost which does not need separate physical space.
