A Study on Feature-Based Visual Servoing Control of Robot System by Utilizing Redundant Feature

  • This paper presents how effective it is to use many features for improving the speed and accuracy of visual servo systems. Some rank conditions which relate the image Jacobian to the control performance are derived. The focus is to describe that the accuracy of the camera position control in the world coordinate system is increased by utilizing redundant features in this paper. It is also proven that the accuracy is improved by increasing the number of features involved. Effectiveness of the redundant features is evaluated by the smallest singular value of the image Jacobian which is closely related to the accuracy with respect to the world coordinate system. Usefulness of the redundant features is verified by the real time experiments on a Dual-Arm robot manipulator made by Samsung Electronic Co. Ltd..

An Adaptive Tone Reproduction for High Dynamic Range Image

  • A high dynamic range (HDR) image can represent real world scenes that have a wide range of luminance intensity. However, compared with the range of real world luminance, conventional display devices have a low dynamic range (LDR). To display HDR images onto conventional displayable devices such as monitors and printers, we propose the logarithmic based global reproduction algorithm that considers the features of the image using reproduction parameters. Based on the characteristics of the image, we first modify the input luminance values for reproducing perceptually tuned images and then obtain the displayable output values directly. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves good subjective results while preserving details of the image; furthermore, the proposed algorithm has a fast, simple and practical structure for implementation.

외판원문제에서 국지해를 탈출하기 위한 비용완화법 (Cost Relaxation Method to Escape from a Local Optimum of the Traveling Salesman Problem)

  • This paper provides a simple but effective method, cost relaxation to escape from a local optimum of the traveling salesman problem. We would find a better solution if we repeat a local search heuristic at a different initial solution. To find a different initial solution, we use the cost relaxation method relaxing the cost of arcs. We used the Lin-Kernighan algorithm as a local search heuristic. In experimental result, we tested large instances, 30 random instances and 34 real world instances. In real-world instances, we found average 0.17% better above the optimum solution than the Concorde known as the chained Lin-Kernighan. In clustered random instances, we found average 0.9% better above the optimum solution than the Concorde.

  • Scheduling problems which determine the sequence of jobs are one of the Important issues to many industries. This paper deals with a single-machine job sequencing problem which has complex constraints and an objective function. To solve the problem, an expressive constraint description language and an automatic code generator are developed for our scheduling system. The user just needs to describe the scheduling problem using the constraint description language that allows to express both quantitative and qualitative constraints as well as an objective function in real world semantics. Then, a complete scheduling program based on constraint satisfaction technique is automatically generated through the code generator. Advantage of this approach is that models of the scheduling problems are easily developed and maintained because models ore formulated by using the language which reflects real world semantics.

  • 이 논문에서는 애니메이션에서 리얼리티의 문제를 살펴보았다. 초기 애니메이션은 판타지를 기반으로 형성되었다. 디즈니는 애니메이션에 실사영화의 내러티브 구조와 스타일, 연기 등을 과감히 도입함으로써 실사에 근접하는 하이퍼 리얼리티한 애니메이션의 기초를 닦았지만, 그 결과 자유스러운 이미지의 실험을 통해 환상성을 창조하던 여타의 애니메이션 장르들은 주변화되고만다. 디즈니의 하이퍼 리얼리티한 세계관과 이후 발전한 3D 컴퓨터 애니메이션 기술의 결합은 가상의 공간, 가상의 인물들을 진짜보다 더 진짜같이 만들어내기에 이르렀고, 원본없는 복제물인 시뮬라크르의 매트릭스를 창조해가고 있다.

불완전 시계열 데이터를 위한 이산 HMM 학습 알고리듬 (Discrete HMM Training Algorithm for Incomplete Time Series Data)

  • Hidden Markov Model is one of the most successful and popular tools for modeling real world sequential data. Real world signals come in a variety of shapes and variabilities, among which temporal and spectral ones are the prime targets that the HMM aims at. A new problem that is gaining increasing attention is characterizing missing observations in incomplete data sequences. They are incomplete in that there are holes or omitted measurements. The standard HMM algorithms have been developed for complete data with a measurements at each regular point in time. This paper presents a modified algorithm for a discrete HMM that allows substantial amount of omissions in the input sequence. Basically it is a variant of Baum-Welch which explicitly considers the case of isolated or a number of omissions in succession. The algorithm has been tested on online handwriting samples expressed in direction codes. An extensive set of experiments show that the HMM so modeled are highly flexible showing a consistent and robust performance regardless of the amount of omissions.

  • Content services for silver users on the ubiquitous technologies are getting attention as a new business model, monitoring users in real-time on the real-world and/or cyber-world. A lot of business and service model have been developed to apply silver or elder user. This study explained a state-of-the-art silver IT service to innovative services for users, ranging from home and finance to support for healthcare and living. Due to the variation of subtle terminologies, this study was conducted to restructure an adaptive terminology including some definitions. Current silver IT service model has been evaluated from the technical, functional, and business analyst, and its suitability has also been expressed in a proposed model and service. The purpose of this study was to propose a systematic approach of new IT service business model for silver users. A proposed model was described to explain the feasibility of the silver IT industry.

  • It is important issue how to evaluate the economic feasibility of computing factors in the real world when we build ubiquitous spaces. In this paper, we propose a simple model that can evaluate the economic feasibility of mobile RFID-based ubiquitous computing system which enables seamless communication between offline and online via embedded computing factors in the real world. To achieve this, we explore the meaning of mobile RFID system, the difference between our research and extant researches concerning the evaluation of economic feasibility in RFID system, and propose the so-called 'Tag-based Evaluation Model' (TEM) which is an evaluation model to access the economic feasibility of mobile RFID systems. We also analyze the TEM via simulation cases based on proposed model and discuss the future of TEM.

  • Since world container throughput continues to grow, the main issues facing decision-makers at port container terminals are how to expand the existing container terminals and construct new container terminals. Simulations can be used in the decision making process tools due to its ease and ability to reflect the real world system. The object-oriented approach provides for both reusability and modularity that best fits these requirements. In this paper, the object-oriented approach to modeling and simulating general container terminals is presented. Simulation tools based on Visual C++ provide a user-friendly input and output environment through the use of an object class-library.   • In general, there are 3 subjects of discussion in education field; namely past, present and future. Related with those facts, there is several information or knowledge that relatively hard to be presented in the real world. In this matter, digital content shows its contribution especially in the education field. Digital content can virtually represent the information or knowledge that seems to be difficult to be visualized in the real world before. In this project, researcher develops a mobile device's application that consist the skeleton's 3D virtual content. This application is expected to solve the above explained problem that usually appears during learning human skeleton in senior high-school's biology class. Besides, the application of digital content will make the learning process become easier because the student will have a visual learning tool. Last, the mobile device that is used in this prototype has offer an important beneficial namely mobility beneficial, so that the user can access the content anytime and anywhere.
