Evaluation of a theory-based community intervention to increase fruit and vegetable intakes of women with limited incomes

  • The study objectives were to increase both the stage of readiness to eat fruit and vegetables as well as the intakes of women who participated in the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) for families with limited incomes. The intervention was to enhance the currently used curriculum, Eating Right Is Basic III (ERIB3), with stage-specific processes based on the Trans-Theoretical Model of readiness to change. Trained EFNEP community workers taught the enhanced curriculum to 90 mothers in the experimental county and to 53 mothers in the control county. Pre- and post-intervention measures included stages of readiness to eat fruit and vegetables and to intake as assessed by 24-hour dietary recalls and staging questions. Most women recruited into EFNEP were in Action and Preparation Stages (53.5%). Fruit and vegetable intakes showed a linear trend along with the Stage of Change for fruit and vegetable. After intervention, some combination of the ERIB3 and the fruit and vegetables-enhanced ERIB3 resulted in a reported 1/2 servings/day increase in fruits and vegetables in both the control and the experimental counties, although changes were not significant. EFNEP women also moved along the Stage of Change Continuum for fruits and vegetables in both counties. The percentage of people who ate 5 or more servings of fruit and vegetables was significant, however, only in the experimental group. We encourage health professionals to apply lessons learned from this intervention and to continue to pursue theoretically based interventions to change dietary behaviors.

알코올 중독의 변화단계를 반영한 노래심리치료가 알코올 중독자의 변화 준비도에 미치는 효과 (Effects of a Song Psychotherapy Intervention on the Change Readiness of Alcoholics)

  • 본 연구에서는 알코올 변화단계에 근거한 노래심리치료가 알코올 중독자의 변화 준비도에 미치는 임상적인 효과를 평가하였다. 중재에 사용된 노래심리치료 프로그램은 알코올 변화단계를 반영한 여섯 가지 활동(노래 듣기, 노래 부르기, 노래 만들기, 노래 공유하기, 가사 토의, 노래 토의 및 분석)으로 구성되었다. 본 연구에서는 64명의 알코올 중독자를 무작위 배정하여 실험 집단(33명)과 통제 집단(31명)으로 나누었다. 실험 집단은 주 2회 45분 단위로 6주 동안 전체 12회기의 노래심리치료 프로그램에 참여하였다. 프로그램의 중재 효과는 SOCRATES-K를 이용하여 평가되었다. 실험 결과, 노래심리치료 프로그램 중재 후 실험 집단의 SOCRATES-K점수는 14.6% 증가했으나(p < .001), 통제집단에서는 유의한 수준에서의 변화는 없었다(0.8% 증가, p = .141). 실험 집단에서 SOCRATES-K 세부 요인별 증가율은 양가성 요인, 실천 요인, 인식 요인 순이었다. 통제집단의 경우 모든 요인에서 유의한 변화는 없었다. 결론적으로, 알코올 변화단계를 근거로 한 노래 심리 치료 프로그램은 알코올 중독자들의 변화 준비도를 유의하게 높여준 것으로 확인되었으며, 향후 알코올 중독자들을 위한 중재로서 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • The construction of smart factories for government SMEs is not easy due to the lack of professional manpower. The use of retired professionals is a way to solve the problem to some extent and to solve the job problem of seniors by effectively utilizing social assets. This study examines the effectiveness of using Meister based on a survey of 195 companies participating in the Smart Meister Support Program. As a result, the better pre-participation readiness and the better management and coordination of change during the participation, the more significant influence was on Meister's ability development and corporate performance. In particular, it was confirmed that Meister's competence plays a role in both 'pre-participation readiness and business performance' and 'between change management during participation and business performance'. In order to improve the performance of the smart meister business in the future, it is necessary to proactively promote the purpose and purpose of the business targeting companies that wish to participate in the business. In addition, it was found that it is necessary to support the development of change management in order to minimize the resistance to innovation during the project. It will be possible to enhance social competitiveness by resolving senior jobs and strengthening the competitiveness of SMEs by discovering and utilizing Meister, who is an expert among retirees.

서비스기업의 변화준비성을 통한 행동유도시스템 활용이 접점직원의 민첩성 및 성과에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Affordance System Use on Agility and Performance)

  • 본 연구는 고객에게 다양한 서비스를 제공해야하는 접점직원의 민첩성을 제고하기 위해 필요한 IT 기술 즉, 행동유도시스템의 촉진요인과 결과요인을 확인하고자 한다. 이를 위해 변화준비성, 행동유도시스템, 민첩성 및 성과의 개념을 정립하고 또한 이들 간의 관계를 이론적 및 실증적으로 검증하여 서비스기업에서 IT 기술을 이용한 경쟁력 강화에 필요한 전략적 시사점을 도출하였다. 행동 유도시스템을 사용하는 접점직원 419명을 대상으로 Amos 23.0을 사용하여 분석한 결과 첫째, 변화준비성의 기술, 조직, 환경요인은 행동유도시스템에 모두 유의한 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 행동유도시스템은 민첩성과 성과에 모두 유의한 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 민첩성은 성과에 유의한 성과를 주는 것으로 나타났다. 넷째, 업무불확실성은 행동유도시스템과 민첩성의 관계를 조절하는 것으로 밝혀졌지만, 행동유도시스템과 성과와의 관계는 조절하지 못하는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과의 이유와 시사점을 제시하였다.

Food safety knowledge and practice by the stages of change model in school children

  • In this study, 342 grade 4-6 elementary school students in Gyeonggi-do were recruited to determine their readiness to change food safety behavior and to compare their food safety knowledge and practices by the stages of change. The subjects were divided into three stages of change; the percentage of stage 1 (precontemplation) was 10.1%, the percentage of stage 2 (contemplation and preparation) was 62.4%, and that of stage 3 (action and maintenance) was 27.5%. Food safety knowledge scores in stage 3 (4.55) or stage 2 (4.50) children were significantly higher than those in stage 1 children (4.17) (P < 0.05). The two food safety behavior items "hand washing practice" and "avoidance of harmful food" were significantly different among the three groups (P < 0.05). Stages of change were significantly and positively correlated with food safety knowledge and practice. Age was significantly and negatively correlated with the total food safety behavior score (r = -0.142, P < 0.05). The most influential factor on the stage of change was a mother's instruction about food safety (P < 0.01).

공학교육에서 하브루타 수업방식의 효과 분석 (Analysis of the Effect of the Havruta Method in Engineering Education)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 공대 대학수업에 하브루타 방식을 적용하여 실제적으로 학습자의 역량에 변화가 있는지를 탐색하는 것으로, 대학수업에서의 효과적 운영을 위한 기초자료를 제공하고자 한다. <대학물리및실험2>를 수강하는 105명의 학습자들을 대상으로 하였고, 선행연구들을 탐색하여 하브루타 수업에서의 학습자 역량으로 학습준비도능력, 학업적 자기효능감, 의사소통능력을 선정하고 연구도구를 활용하여 실험을 진행하였다. 연구는 하브루타 수업적용을 위한 수업설계, 실험설계, 사전검사, 실험처치, 사후검사 순으로 진행하고 SPSS 21.0 for window를 활용하여 사전-사후 학습자 역량 변화를 비교·분석하였다. 첫째, 학습준비도능력은 사전-사후검사를 비교한 결과 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있으며, 특히 하위역량 중 학습에 대한 애착, 학습기회에 대한 개방성, 학습에 대한 주도성/독립성에서 긍정적인 역량 변화가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 학업적 자기효능감은 사전-사후검사를 비교한 결과 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 의사소통능력은 사전-사후검사를 비교한 결과 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있으며, 특히 하위역량 중 주도적 의사소통에서 긍정적인 역량 변화가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 도출된 연구결과는 교수자 중심의 교육에서 탈피하여 공대 수업에 학생중심의 하브루타 방식을 적용하여 효과를 탐색한 것으로, 공대 수업이나 대학수업에 하브루타를 적용하고 싶은 교수자나 수업설계자들에게 좋은 지침 및 기초자료가 될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

  • This study aims to define concepts on Hospital Design Focused on System to respond to the development and change by comparing general design methods of the General hospital architecture in Korea and analyze elements suitable to concepts on Hospital Design Focused on System in the General hospital architecture through examining the transformation of General hospitals in Korea. Essential architectural elements composing the Hospital Design Focused on System are as follows. First of all, the elements which can react to development of hospital architecture are HOSPITAL STREET and site situation. Secondly, core, equipment shaft, column, MAIN STREET and air handling unit room are elements of great importance as the location of these elements determines the dimensions and scale of the space which hospital functions are assigned to. Third, the area in regard to the rate of change is formed by MAIN STREET, which is the primary element, and envelope. The depth between MAIN STREET and envelope is defined as space depth. The flexible area is determined depending on this space depth and thus how to set up this flexible area determines the degree of readiness in responding to the change.

성인 여성을 대상으로 한 지방섭취제한행동 변화단계에 따른 사회심리적 요인 분석 (Analysis on the Stages of Change in Fat Reducing Behavior and Social Psychological Correlates in adult Female)

  • Under the assumption that people go through stages in making dietary behavior change, this study was attempted to apply the stages of a change model for fat intake by examining the associations of social psychological variables with stages of change in dietary fat reduction. Derived from social psychological theories, 10 social psychological variables on motivational beliefs(6), social influence(3) and self-efficacy(1) related specifically to selecting every day diets low in fat were constructed. Fat and energy intakes were assessed by a short form semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire. The associations of stages of change with motivational beliefs, social influence, and self-efficacy variables and energy and fat intakes were assessed in 333 female adults from large cities in Korea. Dietary stage groups differed significantly on most of the social psychological variables in ways predicted by theory. Motivational factors that lead to a psychological state of readiness to take action were important in the early stages of the dietary change process. Social influences were more important in the stages as people decide to take action. Self efficacy and motivational beliefs, particularly, reduction of perceived barriers were important in maintaining fat reduction behavior. The results of our study indicate differences in stages of change in fat reduction behavior in terms of nutrient intakes and social psychological correlates and suggests that adding a time dimension to social psychological models increases our understanding of dietary change, which assist us in designing nutrition education interventions that are more appropriately targeted by stage of change. 효과적 건강상담을 위한 제 보건행동이론의 활용방안에 대한 연구 (The Use of Health Behavior Theory for Effective Health Counselling)

  • The use of health behavior theory in health counseling may improve its effectiveness. This article provides an overview of health behavior theory and guidelines on how to incorporate various theories into effective health counseling. Models that focus on behavior change at the individual level are described, including the health belief model, which focuses on individual health beliefs; social learning theory, which emphasizes interactions between individual, behavior and its environment; theory of reasoned action and theory of planned behavior, which examines factors influencing behavioral intention;. the stages of change model, which focuses on one's stage of readiness for change. Research review provides explanatory and predictive utility of four health behavior theories. Suggestions for effective health counselling are as follows: 1. Unified theoretical framework incorporating key concepts from different health behavior theories is needed. 2. Need assessment should be included in counselling process. 3. Behavior-change counselling should target changes in one or more key variables previously identified. 4. Focusing on promotional efforts into a high profile behavior(gateway behavior) can be an an adjunctive way of initiating other health promotion behaviors. 5. Counselling should be staged based, and different strategies and processes of changes should be applied at different stages.

Towards Instant Availability and Full Life Cycle Resilience in Vertical Cities: Automated Deployment and Transformation of High-Rise Buildings to Mitigate Social Challenges

  • High-rise buildings often can accommodate the population of small horizontal cities. The investment in high-rise buildings is considerable and therefore a rapid return on investment is necessary. The immediate availability of high-rise buildings can be achieved by automated prefabrication of highly finished modules and their instant on-site assembly by robotic and automated construction sites. A high-rise building as a vertical city can be considered as a sophisticated organism that can constantly change throughout its lifecycle in response to economic growth, demographic change, and environmental pressures. To date, many new urban high-rise developments claim to be "vertical cities", yet few represent this important characteristic. This article analyzed the technological readiness and innovations in the field of construction automation and robotics including single-task construction robots, automated on-site construction factories, and ambient assisted living. These technological advances enable the realization of future vertical cities that are able to continuously grow and transform in terms of form and function. Finally, the article proposes a visionary archetype of vertical city in the name of "dynamic vertical urbanism" that is easy to expand vertically and horizontally in order to achieve instant availability and full life cycle resilience thanks to advanced building technologies.
