In this study of lifted hydrogen jet with coaxial air, we have experimentally studied the characteristics of stabilization point in turbulent diffusion flames. The objectives are to present the phenomenon of a liftoff height decreasing as increasing fuel velocity and to analyse the flame structure and behavior including liftoff mechanisms. The fuel jet exit velocity was changed from 100 up to 300 m/s and a coaxial air velocity was fixed at 16 m/s with a coflow air less than 0.1 m/s. For the simultaneous measurement of velocity field and reaction zone, PIV and OH PLIF technique was used with two Nd:Yag lasers and CCD cameras. It has been suggested that the stabilization of lifted hydrogen diffusion flames was correlated with a turbulent intensity, $S_t{\sim}u^{\prime}$, and jet Reynolds number, $S_t{\sim}Re^{0.017}_{jet}$.
The Yeongdo Island in Busan City is a remnant of the latest Cretaceous volcano, and consists geologically of andesites, rhyolite tuff, pelitic and psammitic hornfelses, lapilli rhyodacite tuff of the Yucheon Group, felsite and felsite porphyry of the Bulgugsa intrusives, and Holocene sediments in ascending order. The hornfelses are bound to the Taejongdae Formation. The stratigraphic position of the Formation is determined definitely into the Yucheon Group, thus the geologic age is approximately the same with the volcanic rocks of the Group. The sediments had been thermally metamorphosed to make pelitic and psammitic hornfelses of the albite epidote hornfels facies by the effects of active hydrothermal circulation, vaporization, and hybridization of andesitic solution, or of basification of acidic intrusives. Thus, on occasion, those hornfelses are not used to be distinguished from the andesitic rocks in the southeastern part of the Korean peninsula. The paleocurrent direction determined from several cross-beddings of the Taejongdae Formation is suggested to be from southwest to northeast. Orbicular rocks occur in hornfelsed rhyolite tuff, pelitic- and psammitic-hornfelses, and felsite porphyry at a lot of outcrops in the area of southwestern shoreline of the Yeongdo Island. Orbicules in rhyolite tuff and hornfels in the island might have originated from diffusion processes of metasomatic metamorphism carried out by hydrothermal solution rised from the intrusive adamellite which may be emplaced deeply under the Yeongdo volcanics. Those orbicules are due to metasomatic, secondary, and epigenetic origin. Proto-, multi-shelled, and multi-cored orbicules are described in the orbicular tuff. But multi-cored orbicules are not found in the orbicular fornfels. 250 tuff-orbicules numbered sporadically are in $20,000m^2$ area of the locality of orbicular tuff. About 60 hornfels-orbicules occurred sporadically are in $1,700m^2$ area of the locality of orbicular hornfels in the Taejongdae Formation. Orbicules in felsite porphyry might have originated by diffusion reaction between xenoliths and a quiescent zone in felsite porphyry magma. Those are of igneous, primary, and syngenetic origin.
The experiment was carried out for the purpose of studying the carburization of pure iron ingot and sintered iron powder by solid carbon in the atmosphere of CO gas. The volocity of carburization was estimaed by the diffusion coefficient D calculated by carburization equation. The results obtained were as follow: 1. The higher the carburization temperature, carburization depth and carbon concentration were increased, and the melting zone which had $2.8{\sim}3.4%C$ at the $3{\sim}4mm$ from interface of carburization was formed at $1300^{\circ}C$. 2. The main carburization mechanism of pure iron ingot and the sintered iron powder were proceeded by CO gas up to $1100^{\circ}C$, solid carbon over than $1300^{\circ}C$, respectively. 3. The main carburization mechanism of pure iron ingot at $1200^{\circ}C$ was proceeded by solid carbon, and sintered iron powder was proceeded bs CO gas, however, in case the reaction time, the carburization was proceeded by solid carbon over than 5hrs. 4. The diffusion coefficient D of carbon were $0.559{\times}10^{-6}cm^2.sec^{-1}$ at $1100^{\circ}C$, $0.237{\times}10^{-6}cm^2.sec^{-1}$ at $1200^{\circ}C$, $0.087{\times}10^{-6}cm^2.sec^{-1}$ at $1300^{\circ}C$, in case of pure iron ingot carburized. 5. The diffusion coefficient D of carbon were $0.124\;cm^2.sec^{-1}$ at $1100^{\circ}C$, $0.102\;cm^2.sec^{-1}$ at $1200^{\circ}C$, $0.480\;{\times}10^{-6}cm^2.sec^{-1}$ at $1300^{\circ}C$, in the case of sintered iron carburized at the pressuring $4ton\;/\;cm^2$.
Resveratrol, which is both a phytoalexin with antifungal activity and a phytochemical associated with reduced cancer risk and reduced cardiovascular disease, is synthesized in a limited number of plant species including peanut. Resveratrol synthesis is catalyzed by the enzyme stilbene synthase including resveratrol synthase (RS). Resveratrol synthase gene (RS3) obtained from peanut, Arachis hypogaea, Fabaceae has been transferred into chinese foxglove, Rehmannia glutinosa by using Agrobacterium mediated transformation. RS t-DNA introduced to chinese foxglove (R. glutinosa L) by transformation and its reaction product, $resveratrol-3-O-{\beta}-D-glucoside$ was isolated and characterized using HPLC. Also its biological effects was tested in inhibition of the lipid peroxidation of mouse LDL by glycosylated stilbenes derivatives obtained from transgenic plants. $Resveratrol-3-O-{\beta}-D-glucoside$ isolated from transgenic R. glutinosa L. showed antimicrobial activity of the growth inhibition zone against Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhimurium. Therefore, this compound can be contributed to be useful as a phytoalexin for plant health as well as a phytochemical for human health.

The conventional floating zone(FZ) crystal and Czochralski(CZ) silicon crystal have resistivity variations longitudinally as well as radially The resistivity variations of the conventional FZ and CZ crystal are not conformed to requirement of dopant distribution for power devices and thyristors. These resistivity variations in conventional cystals limits the reverse breakdown voltage that could be achieved and forced designers of high power diodes and thyristors to compromise the desired current-voltage characteristics. So to produce high Power diodes and thyristors, Neutron Transmutation Doping(NTD) technique is the one method just because NTD silicon provides very homogeneous distribution of doping concentration. This procedure involves the nuclear transmutation of silicon to phosphorus by bombardment of neutron to the crystal according to the reaction $^{30}$ Si(n,${\gamma}$)longrightarrow$^{31}$ Silongrightarrow(2.6 hr)$^{31}$ P+$\beta$$^{[-10]}$ . The radioactive isotope $^{31}$ Si is formed by $^{31}$ Si capturing a neutron, which then decays into the stable $^{31}$ P isotope (i.e., the donor atom), whose distribution is not dependent on the crystal growth parameters. In this research, neutron was irradiated on FZ silicon wafers which had high resistivity(1000~2000 Ω cm), for 26 and 8.3hours for samples of HTS-1 and HTS-2, and 13, 3.2, 2.0 hours for samples of IP-1, IP-2 and IP-3, respectively, to compare resistivity changes due to time differences. The designed resistivities were approached, which were 2.l Ωcm for HTS-1, 7.21 Ω cm for HTS-2, 1.792cm for IP-1, 6.83 Ωcm for IP-2, 9.23 Ωcm for IP-3, respectively. Point defects were investigated with Deep Level Transient Spectroscopy(DLTS). Four different defects were observed at 80K, 125K, 230K, and above 300K.
Meteorological characteristics related to variations in ozone ($O_3$) concentrations in the Korean peninsula before, during, and after Typhoon Talas (1112) were analyzed using both observation data and numerical modeling. This case study takes into account a high $O_3$ episode (e.g., a daily maximum of ${\geq}90ppb$) without rainfall. Before the typhoon period, high $O_3$ concentrations in the study areas (e.g., Daejeon, Daegu, and Busan) resulted from the combined effects of stable atmospheric conditions with high temperature under a migratory anticyclone (including subsiding air), and wind convergence due to a change in direction caused by the typhoon. The $O_3$ concentrations during the typhoon period decreased around the study area due to very weak photochemical activity under increased cloud cover and active vertical dispersion under a low pressure system. However, the maximum $O_3$ concentrations during this period were somewhat high (similar to those in the normal period extraneous to the typhoon), possibly because of the relatively slow photochemical loss of $O_3$ by a $H_2O+O(^1D)$ reaction resulting from the low air temperature and low relative humidity. The lowest $O_3$ concentrations during the typhoon period were relatively high compared to the period before and after the typhoon, mainly due to the transport effect resulting from the strong nocturnal winds caused by the typhoon. In addition, the $O_3$ increase observed at night in Daegu and Busan was primarily caused by local wind conditions (e.g., mountain winds) and atmospheric stagnation in the wind convergence zone around inland mountains and valleys.

This research concerns the effect of kaolin as material of cement admixture. which has the advantage of low price and high adaptability. Kaolin, a kind of soil, is well known as a raw material of pottery. which is widely scat-tered on the earth (especially in Korea). This research shows the method and process for activating kaolin to have the properties of a cement admixture through experiment. In the experiments, kaolin is baked in high temperature and then cooled suddenly to be activated. The temperature zone and time span, on which kaolin is activated are examined. The research looks over the effect of the activated kaolin based on several criteria regarding to chemical and physical characteristic of general admixtures. The results of this research are as follows; kaolin start activation at the temperature above 50$0^{\circ}C$ and make ends of activation at the temperature below 95$0^{\circ}C$ and there was little effect by the change of duration. It is concluded that compressive strength can be increased by putting activated kaolin in the concrete and the activated kaolin is good for water resistance and anti-chemical , and that it is effective for protecting the leakage of hazardous article like Cl- and for protecting damage by an organic salt like acid. The activated kaolin of proper temperature and time is effective in compressive strength, salt resistance and acid resistance. The adaptability of activated kaolin as a cement admixture was shown through this research.

There is the possibility that internal tin processed Nb$_3Sn$ wires are locally heated during the drawing process and the jacketing process. It is important to know the variations in J$_c$ of internal tin processed Nb$_3Sn$ wires caused by local heating. Internal tin processed Nb$_3Sn$ rods were cold worked to 2.28 mm, using the appropriate reduction ratio, and then cut into several pieces. At this stage, wires were locally 50 mm heat zone heated up to 360$^{\circ}C$. The locally heated Nb$_3Sn$ wires were drawn to a final diameter size of 0.81 mm. Others were cold worked successively to 0.81 mm and locally heated with the same conditions. 2 types of locally heat treated wires were wound on Ti-6Al-4V barrels and heat treated for the Nb$_3Sn$ reaction. Local heating of internal tin processed Nb$_3Sn$ wires after the J$_c$ of these wires. However, local heating at an intermediate stage of the drawing process caused a decrease in J$_c$. When the local heating temperatures were higher than melting point of Sn, non-Cu J$_c$'s decreased significantly. A Sn-Cu alloyed boundary appeared after local heating over the melting point of Sn, and caused work hardening and a decrease in the workability.
This study investigated the influence of pH on the color development of melanoidins formed from amino acid enantiomer model systems. For this, the color development was evaluated by measuring browning at 420 nm and color measurements by spectrophotometry and colorimetry. The browning and browning index showed no difference according to the type of amino acid enantiomers, while that formed from the D-Asn system was the only difference according to pH level. The tristimulus value of melanoidins formed from all model systems was located on a dominant wavelength of 475 nm, the blue zone of the diagram. In addition, the $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$, $C^*_{ab}$ values, and ${\Delta}E^*$ index on the basis of the type of amino acid enantiomers, the differences were markedly found at pH 4.0. At pH 7.0, significantly differences were found in the $L^*$, $a^*$, $b^*$ values, and ${\Delta}E^*$ index and not in the case of the lysine enantiomers. In addition, at pH 10.0, the differences were found in the $a^*$ and $b^*$ values from the lysine enantiomers and $C^*_{ab}$ value from the asparagine enantiomers. Therefore, the color development of melanoidins was influenced by the type of amino acid enantiomers and pH levels. Especially, it is thought that the $a^*$ and $b^*$ values can be used to explain the differences among the amino acid enantiomers in the color development of melanoidins.

Clay deposits in the vicinity of the Gwangpo Bay, southern coast of Korea, occur restrictively in anorthositic masses. Laumontite and meta-halloysite are the predominant clay minerals with iron oxides at the uppermost surface. Chlorite and halloysite occur in deeper zone. Beneath the main clay horizon, but not above, some anorthositic rocks are pervasively altered to quartz, sericite, chlorite, pyrite and montmorillonite along the hydrothermal channels. The hypotheses of hydrothermal and weathering origins of the clay minerals are tested by multi-component equilibrium calculations of the reactions of modified hydrothermal water and rain water with anorthositic rocks at $100^{\circ}C\;and\;25^{\circ}C$, respectively. The calculated mineralogy from the reaction with rain water resembles natural mineral assemblage except for abundance in laumontite. The result implies that the weathering process is the main machanism of the formation of clay deposits in the area.
