  • Combustion stability rating of jet injector is conducted numerically using air-injection technique in a model chamber, where air is supplied to oxidizer and fuel manifolds of the model five-element injector head. A sample F(fuel)-O(oxidizer)-O-F impinging-jet injector is adopted. In this technique, we can simulate mixing process of streams flowing through oxidizer and fuel orifices under cold-flow condition without chemical reaction. The model chamber was designed based on the methodologies proposed in the previous work regarding geometrical dimensions and operating conditions. From numerical data, unstable regions can be identified and they are compared with those from air-injection acoustic and hot-fire tests. The present stability boundaries are in a good agreement with experimental results. The proposed numerical method can be applied cost-effectively to stability rating of jet injectors when mixing of fuel and oxidizer jets is the dominant process in instability triggering.

  • This paper investigated the stability of Ta-Mo alloy on thin gate dielectric. Ta-Mo alloy was deposited by using co-sputtering process after thermal growing of 3.4nm and 4.2nm silicon dioxide. When the sputtering power of Ta and Mo were 100W and 70W, respectively, the suitable work function for NMOS gate electrode, 4.2eV, could obtain. To prove interface thermal stability of thin film gate dielectric and Ta-Mo alloy, rapid thermal annealing was performed at $600^{\circ}C$ and $700^{\circ}C$ for 10sec in Ar ambient. The results of interface reaction were surveyed by change of silicon dioxide thickness and work function after annealing process. Also, the reliability of alloy gate and gate dielectric could be confirmed by quantity of leakage current. Ta-Mo alloy was showed low sheet resistance and thermal stability, namely, little change of gate dielectric and work function, after $700^{\circ}C$ annealing process.

  • We studied the orientation behavior and thermal stability of polyimide (PI) molecules under irradiation of polarized UV (PUV) using polarized fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy. In the case of PUV-exposed PI films, the remaining PI molecules after photo-degradation showed molecular orientation perpendicular to the irradiated PUV polarization direction predominantly, due to the preferential degradation of PI molecules parallel to the irradiated PUV Polarization direction. On the other hand, the rubbing of PI films induced reorientation of the PI molecules parallel to the rubbing direction. We also investigated the thermal stability of the alignment layers furled by rubbing and PUV irradiation on the PI films using Polarized FTIR. The thermal stability of the PUV irradiated PI alignment layer is lower than that of the rubbed PI layer due to the fragmentation reaction of the PI by PUV.

  • We have studied the stability and transdennal flux of prostaglandin $E_1\;(PGE_1)$ from various donor solutions through hairless mouse skin. Stability in HEPES buffer or in propylene glycol (PG) solution where enhancer (oleic acid (OA), propylene glycol monolaurate (PGML), transcutol (TC), ethanol (EtOH))s dissolved was investigated. $$PGE_1 was not stable in HEPES buffer. The concentration of $$PGE_1 decreased continuously for 7 days, and the degradation rate constant was $0.0028\;h^{-1}$, assuming first order reaction. The effect of current or penetration enhancer on the degradation was minimal. Percutaneous transport from HEPES buffer by passive or iontophoretic delivery without enhancer was close to nil. When OA or PGML was used together with PG, both passive and iontophoretic flux increased. PGML showed better enhancing effect than OA. Flux by cathodal delivery was about 2 times larger than that by passive delivery. Flux by anodal delivery was lower than that by passive delivery. TC and EtOH also increased the transdermal flux, but the effect was not as good as that observed when OA or PGML was used. These stability and flux data provide important information on how to formulate the patch, which will be the next step of this work, and on the polarity of current to use during iontophoresis.

  • We first apply a first order splitting to a semilinear reaction-diffusion equation and then discretize the resulting system by an $H^1$-Galerkin mixed finite element method in space. This semidiscrete method yields a system of differential algebraic equations (DAEs) of index one. A priori error estimates for semidiscrete scheme are derived for both differ-ential as well as algebraic components. For fully discretization, an implicit Runge-Kutta (IRK) methods is applied to the temporal direction and the error estimates are discussed for both components. Finally, we conclude the paper with a numerical example.

  • Heat treated whole cell of Aspergillus niger containing glucose oxidase-catalase system was entrapped in gelatin matrix crosslinked by glutaral-dehyde. The reaction characteristics of immobilized enzyme was studied in a fludized reactor. Heat treatment enhanced the stability and improved the properties of micellium for the immobilized process. The immobilized enzyme system showed the maximum activity at $35^{\circ}C$ and at pH 5.5. The optimum substrate concentration was 0.04M glucose. The activity of immobilized glucose oxidase was in proportion to the concentration of dissolved oxygen in reaction mixture as other reaction conditions were fixed. It was also demonstrated that the limiting factor for the activity of the immobilized glucose oxidase was the oxygen diffusion resistance which increases proportionally to the glucose concentration.

  • We introduce two numerical schemes for solving a system of ordinary differential equations which characterizes several kinds of linear reactions and diffusion from biochemistry, physiology, etc. The methods consist of sequential applications of the simple exact solver for a reversible reaction. We prove absolute stability and convergence of the proposed explicit methods. One is of first order and the other is of second order. Numerical results are included.

  • For gold balsam, the suitable sulfur balsam which is made of lavender oil and sulfur is found to be the distillate with the content of 15~19% sulfur. The sulfur balsam is distillated under 20mmHg vaccum at 84~105$^{\circ}C$. The composition of the compound which is produced by reaction between sulfur balsam and gold chloride is recognized as C10H18SAuCl3. This varys to C10H18SAuCl in water. The reaction constants K from C10H18SAuCl3 to C10H18SAuCl at 30, 40, 5$0^{\circ}C$ are as followsr. K1=7.97~9.28$\times$10-2 K2=2.81~3.79$\times$10-1 K3=4.74~6.74$\times$10-1 The plots of T versus log K are linear, which shows pseudo-first order reaction. The lower temperature is, the more stable C10H18SAuCl3 is. The gold balsam with excess sulfur balsam is increased in stability.

  • Colloidal Silica(CS)/silane sol solutions were prepared in variation with synthesizing parameters such as ratio of CS to silane and reaction time. In the case of LHSA CS/tetramethoxysilane(TMOS)/methyltrimethoxysilane(MTMS) CS/silane sol, coating film had stable contact angle with increasing reaction time excepting for 48hours. Also, the LHSA CS/TMOS/MTMS coating film had more enhanced flat surface with increasing the amount of MTMS and increasing reaction time. In the case of thermal stability, thermal dissociation of LHSA CS/MTMS sol did not occur up to $550^{\circ}C$.
