Stability analysis of gas-liquid interface using viscous potential flow (점성포텐셜유동을 이용한 이상유동장의 표면안정성 해석)

  • In this research, Rayleigh instability of gas-liquid flow in annular pipe is studied in film boiling using viscous potential flow. Viscous potential flow is a kind of approximation of gas-liquid interface considering velocity field as potential including viscosity. A dispersion relation is obtained including the effect of heat and mass transfer and viscosity. New expression for dispersion relation in film boiling and critical wave number is obtained. Viscosity and heat and mass transfer have a stabilizing effect on instability and its effect appears in maximum growth rate and critical wave number. And the existence of marginal stability region is shown.

  • The temperature coefficients and phase velocity dispersions of elastic surface wave layer mode with Ag or Pd layer on piezoelectric LiNbO3 svbstrate rotated 131$^{\circ}$ Y out are calculated as a function of thickness by numerical method. Calculated results are shown that the temperature coefficients are rapidly increased in proportion as the thickness of Ag layer increases. and irregular variation of the temperature coefficients appears in the case of Pd layer. Minimum value, -36$\times$10 /$^{\circ}C$, of the temperature coefficients of elastic surface wave with Pd layer on LiMbO3 substrate rotated 131$^{\circ}$ Y cut is obtained at wh=9000.

  • This work is aimed to explore a possibility of using the generalized Lamb waves for nondestructive evaluation of the bonding quality of layered substrates. For this purpose, we prepared two sets of specimens with imperfect bonding at their interfaces; 1) TiN-coated specimens with various wear conditions, and 2) CVD diamond specimens with various cleaning conditions. A dispersion simulation performed for layered substrates with imperfect interfaces are carried out to get the characteristics of dispersion curves that can be used for bonding quality evaluation. Then the characteristics of dispersion curves of the fabricated specimens are experimentally determined by use of an ultrasonic backward radiation measurement technique. The results obtained in the present study show that the lowest velocity mode (Rayleigh-like) of the generalized Lamb waves are sensitively affected by the bonding quality. Therefore, the generalized Lamb waves can be applied for nondestructive evaluation of imperfect bonding quality in various layered substrates.

Prediction Technology on the Source Location of Acoustic Emission Signal in Plate with Welding Line (용접선을 갖는 판재에서 AE 신호원의 위치추정 기법)

  • This study deals with the prediction of defect location which can be occurred in structure. The existing methods was very difficult to be applied to predict it, because of complex numerical formula. The triangulation method proposed in this study can predict the source location easily with small amount of data. The arrival time of wave can be directly converted into the distance between sensors. For this purpose, the propagation velocity was measured by Rayleigh wave, and the propagation behavior was analyzed. The welded workpiece is adapted to investigate for the consideration of jointed part in structure, The propagation velocity of signal was measured in welded workpiece and the revised algorithm of source location was proposed.

Nondestructive Evaluation of the Characteristics of Degraded Materials Using Backward Radiated Ultrasound

  • The frequency dependency of Rayleigh surface wave is investigated indirectly by measuring the angular dependency of the backward radiation of the incident ultrasonic wave in two kinds of degraded specimens by scuffing or corrosion. Then, the frequency dependency is compared with the residual stress distribution or the corrosion-fatigue characteristics for the scuffed or corroded specimens, respectively. The width of the backward radiation profile increases with the increase of the variation in residual stress distribution for the scuffed specimens. In the corroded specimens, the profile width decreases with the increase of the effective aging layer thickness and is inversely proportional to the exponent, m, in the Paris' law that can predict the crack size increase due to fatigue. The result observed in this study demonstrates high potential of backward radiated ultrasound as a tool for nondestructive evaluation of subsurface gradient of material degradation generated by scuffing or corrosion.

  • 본 논문에서는 0.05Pb(Sn$_{1}$2/Sb$_{1}$2/)-0.35PbTiO$_{3}$-0.60PbZrO $_{3}$+0.4[wt%] MnO$_{2}$ 조성을 갖는 3성분계 압전세라믹스에 Cr$_{2}$O$_{3}$ 의 첨가량을 변화시켜서 지연선을 제작하고 탄성표면파를 여기시켜 전파속도를 측정하였으며 EMMAS 기준에 따라 각 시편의 재료정수를 측정하고 이를 압전방정식에 적용하여 매질에 따라 여기되는 탄성표면파의 계산속도를 이론적으로 산출한 후 이를 지연선에서 측정된 실험속도와 비교하여 재료의 특성이 탄성표면파의 전파특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 그 결과 SAW 지연선에서 측정된 탄성표면파는 Generalized Rayleigh Wave였으며 재료의 특성이 우수한 시편일 수록 계산속도와 측정속도와의 차가 적었던 것으로 나타났고 오차한도는 평균 99.39[%]였으므로 실험속도 측정방법이 feed through 현상없이 우수한 측정방법이었음을 알 수 있었다.

For this purpose, the propagation velocity was measured by Rayleigh wave, and the propagation behavior was analyzed. For the consideration of jointed part in structure, the source location method was applied to the welded workpiece. The signal propagation velocity was measured in welding part for the purpose of application to the part and the revised algorithm of source location was proposed.

  • Theoretical models to study the vibro-acoustic performance of a sandwich panel are proposed. The wave propagation characteristics are analyzed, and dispersion relation is derived. The vibration Is analyzed using the Mindlin plate theory. The vibration of the compliantly supported Mindlin plate is investigated using the Rayleigh-Ritz method. The Timoshenko beam functions are used as trial functions. The model is applied to numerically investigate the influence of the plate mechanical properties. The vibro-acoustic properties are mostly determined by bending deformation at low frequencies. At higher frequencies, the shear deformation has a strong influence. The proposed numerical model is used to estimate the optimal panel properties that result in minimum sound radiation. With increasing dynamic stiffnesses the vibration response decreases but the radiating wavenumber components increase.

  • Recently, ground-borne noise and vibration generated by underground transit system has been recognized as an important environmental problem. This study reviews several of the improved procedures that have been used to predict ground-borne vibration. At first, ground stiffness profile is examined by SASW test which is the most reasonable surface wave test. It is very important to acquire the exact ground stiffness profile at ground response analysis. At second, the train loading to act roadbed is calculated by using the real measured phase angle data. In finite element analysis, averaged acceleration method, infinite element, Rayleigh damping and 2-dimensional wave propagation analysis is performed.

An Overview of Liquid Spray Modeling Formed by High-Shear Nozzle/Swirler Assembly

  • A multi-dimensioanl model is being increasingly used to predict the thermo-flow field in the gas turbine combustor. This article addresses an integrated survey of modeling of the liquid spray formation and fuel distribution in gas turbine with high-shear nozzle/swirler assembly. The processes of concern include breakup of a liquid jet injected through a hole type orifice into air stream, spray-wall interaction and spray-film interaction, breakup of liquid sheet into ligaments and droplet,5, and secondary droplet breakup. Atomization of liquid through hole nozzle is described using a liquid blobs model and hybrid model of Kelvin-Helmholtz wave and Rayleigh-Taylor wave. The high-speed viscous liquid sheet atomization on the pre-filmer is modeled by a linear stability analysis. Spray-wall interaction model and liquid film model over the wall surface are also considered.
