  • In the M-ary DCSK system up to now, as M increases, the distance between constellation signal points becomes closer and performance deteriorates. we propose a hybrid modulation scheme based on PPM and DCSK to improve the BER performance. one part of the bit is modulated by the PPM and the other part by DCSK. Thus, the information bearing signal is modulated simultaneously according to the selected pulse position of the PPM determined by the information bit and the additional information bit. The analytical BER performance of the proposed plan is derived and verified by simulation. The results show that the proposed scheme outperforms conventional M-DCSK, code index modulation DCSK and rectified code index DCSK in additional white Gaussian noise and multipath Rayleigh fading channels.

  • This work aims to explore the static behaviour of a tapered functionally graded porous plate (FGPP) with even and uneven porosity distributions resting on two parametric elastic foundations. The plate under investigation is subjected to bi-sinusoidal loading and the edges of the plate are exposed to different combinations of edge restrictions. In order to examin the static behaviour, bending factors (BF) related to bending and normal stresses have been evaluated using classical plate theory. To achieve this, the governing equations have been derived employing the energy concept. And to solve it, the Rayleigh-Ritz method with an algebraic function has been utilised; it is simple, precise, and computationally intensive. After convergence and validation analyses, new findings are made available. The BF of the plate have been exhaustively examined to explain the influence of aspect ratios, material property index, porosity factor, taper factor, and Winkler and Pasternak stiffness. It is observed that the BF of an elastically supported FGPP are influenced by the index of material propery and the aspect ratio. Findings also indicate that the impact of porosity is more when it is spread evenly, as opposed to when it is unevenly distributed. Further, the deformed plate's structure is significantly influenced by the different thickness variations. Examination of bending characteristics of FGPP having different new cases of thickness variations with different types of porosity distribution under fifteen different mixed edge constraints is the prime novality of this work. Results presented are reliable enough to be taken into account for future studies.

  • A typical software development life cycle consists of a series of phases, each of which has some ability to insert and detect defects. To achieve desired quality, we should progress the defect removal with the all phases of the software development. The well-known model of phase-based defect profile is Gaffney model. This model assumes that the defect removal profile follows Rayleigh curve and uses the parameters as the phase index number. However, these is a problem that the location parameter cannot present the peak point of removed defects when you apply Gaffney model to the actual situation. Therefore, Gaffney model failed to represent the actual defect profile. This paper suggests two different models: One is modified Gaffney model that introduce the parameter of Putnam's SLIM model to replace of the location parameter, the other is the growth function model because the cumulative defect profile shows S-shaped. Suggested model is analyzed and verified by the defect profile sets that are obtained from 5 different software projects. We could see from the experiment, the suggested model performed better result than Gaffney model.

  • The channel capacities of various lading channels are calculated and compared with that of Gaussian noise channel to find out the decrements of channel capacity according to each fading environment. As a result, it is confirmed that the channel capacities in Rician and m-distribution fading channels approach to that of Gaussian noise channel as direct-to-indirect power ratio in Rician fading channel and fading index m in m-distribution fading channel increases respectively. And the difference between two channel capacities of Gaussian noise channel and each fading channel which is dependent on carrier-to-noise power ratio (CNR) is found. Also the improvement of channel capacity of Rayleigh fading channel by introducing two-branch diversities is obtained. For diversity reception, predetection maximal-ratio and postdetection selective combining techniques are adopted. The results show that the improvement of channel capacity by predetection maximal-ratio combining diversity is superior to the postdetection selective combining diversitiy regardless of correlation coefficient between two diversity branches in Raylelgh fading channel. The best improvement is achieved when two branches are noncorrelative in both two diversify techniques and as correlation coefficient of two diversity branches is smaller, the improvement of channel capacity is greater.

  • Acoustic pressure response and NO formation of hydrogen-air diffusion flames at various pressures are numerically studied by employing counterflow diffusion flame as a model flame let in turbulent flames in combustion chambers. The numerical results show that extinction strain rate increases linearly with pressure and then decreases, and increases again at high pressures. Thus, flames are classified into three pressure regimes. Such non-monotonic behavior is caused by the change in chemical kinetic behavior as pressure rises. Acoustic pressure response in each regime is investigated based on the Rayleigh criterion. At low pressures, pressure-rise causes the increase in flame temperature and chain branching/recombination reaction rates, resulting in increased heat release. Therefore, amplification in pressure oscillation is predicted. Similar phenomena are predicted at high pressures. At moderate pressures, weak amplification is predicted. Emission index of NO shows similar behaviors as to the peak-temperature variation with pressure.

  • Nonlinear oscillation of a microbubble under ultrasound was investigated theoretically. The bubble radius-time curves calculated by the Rayleigh-Plesset equation with a polytropic index and by the Keller-Miksis equation with the analytical solution for the Navier-Stokes equations of the gases were compared with the observed results by the light scattering method. This study has revealed that the bubble behavior such as the expansion ratio and the bouncing motion after the first collapse under ultrasound depends crucially on the retarded time of the bubble motion to the applied ultrasound.

  • In this paper, the performance of the trellis coded CPFSK with the coherent detection over mobile communication channels is calculated. The characteristics of channels, including phase jitter effects and fading effects, are examined and modeled. The phase jitter channel is modeled to have a nonzero mean and a gaussian distribution. The fading channel has a Rayleigh distribution in the multipath. For the optimal decoding method(MLSE), the Viterbi algorithm is used for the trellis structure of trellis coded CPFSK. The results indicate that the trellis coded CPFSK with a small moulation indes gets more sensitive, as the index gets smaller, to the phase noise under the phase jitter channel. Using the interleaving method. It gives considerable improvements in the error rate under the fading channel.

  • Light extinction characteristics of soot particles in ethylene and propane inverse diffusion flames have been experimentally investigated. The measured data suggested that the refractive index of soot particles varies with light wavelength due to PAH contents existing during the soot growth process. The results showed that the scattering effect is less important as the size of secondary particles rarely affects the optical properties of the soot even when the size is large enough to deviate from Rayleigh assumptions.

  • This study proposes a new diversity algorithm to improve the signal-to-noise ratio. In the wireless channel, if fading occurs due to the multipaths, the performance of the system is apparently reduced. One of the methods to reduce fadings like this is the diversity method, and this study aims to improve the performance of the system by proposing a new diversity algorithm. This study applied rake receiver, and normalized the wireless channel from the Nakagami fading channel to the Rayleigh fading channel, which set the fading index as 1, because of the multipaths. It applied QPSK and OQPSK modulation methods and applied the convolutional codes, where the code rate is 1/2 and 1/3 and the constraint length is 9, and the turbo code where the constraint length is 4. Under these conditions, this study compared and analyzed the average error probability of direct spread multiple access system. The diversity algorithm proposed in this paper could be applied to the mobile communication and other wireless multimedia communications that require high quality and high reliability.

  • This manuscript work presents a comprehensive continuum model capable to investigate the effect of porosity on vibro-acoustic behaviour of functionally graded (FG) beams resting on an elastic foundation subjected to thermal and mechanical loadings. Effects of uniform temperature rise and edge compressive load on the sound radiation characteristics are studied in a comparative manner. The numerical analysis is carried out by combining finite element method with Rayleigh's integral. Detailed parametric studies are accomplished, and influences of power law index, porosity volume, porosity distribution and boundary conditions on the vibro-acoustic response characteristics are analyzed. It is found that the vibro-acoustic response under mechanical edge compression is entirely different compared to from that under the thermal load. Furthermore, nature of grading of porosity affects the sound radiation behaviour for both the loads. The proposed model can be used to obtain the suppression performance of vibration and noise FG porous beams under thermal and mechanical loads.
