This paper describes a time-spatial domain model for simulating raw data acquisition of space-borne SAR system. The position, velocity and attitude information of the platform at a certain time instance is used for deriving sensor-target model. Ground target is modelled by a set of point scatters with reflectivity and two-dimensional ground coordinates. The signal received by SAR is calculated for each slow and fast time instance by integrating the reflectivity and phase values from all target point scatters. Different from frequency domain simulation algorithms, the proposed time domain algorithm can provide fully physical modelling of SAR raw data simulation without any assumptions or approximations.
A raw signal simulator for synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is a useful tool for the design and implementation of SAR system. Also, in order to analyze and verify the developed SAR processor, the raw signal simulator is required. Moreover, there is the need for a test system to help designing new SAR sensors and mission of SAR system. The derived parameters of the SAR simulator also help to generate accurate SAR processing algorithms. Although the ultimate purpose of this research is to presents a general purpose SAR simulator, this paper presents a SAR simulator in frequency domain at the first step. The proposed simulator generates the raw signal by changing various simulation parameters such as antenna parameters, modulation parameters, and sampling parameters. It also uses the statistics from an actual SAR image to imitate actual physical scattering. This paper introduces the procedures and parameters of the simulator, and presents the simulation results. Experiments have been conducted by comparing the simulated raw data with original raw SAR image. In addition, the simulated raw data have been verified through commercial SAR processing software.
The dynamic characteristics of both raw-water source and air source heat pump utilized in water treatment facilities were investigated by using TRNSYS simulator. The modeling of the raw water source heat pump was verified by the measured data at the Cheongju water treatment facility, and the modeling at the air source heat pump was verified by the data from the Siheung water treatment facility. The average heating and cooling COPs from the raw-water source heat pump were higher than those of the air source heat pump by 19% and 18%, respectively. The power consumptions of the air source heat pump for the cooling and the heating were higher than those of the raw water source heat pump by 28% and 26%, respectively.
In this paper, we present novel simulation contents for drone racing and autonomous flight of drone. With Depth camera and SLAM, we conducted mapping 3 dimensional environment through RTAB-map. The 3 dimensional map is represented by point cloud data. After that we recovered this data in Unreal Engine. This recovered raw data reflects real data that includes noise and outlier. Also we built drone racing contents like gate and obstacles for evaluating drone flight in Unreal Engine. Then we implemented both HITL and SITL by using AirSim which offers flight controller and ROS api. Finally we show autonomous flight of drone with ROS and AirSim. Drone can fly in real place and sensor property so drone experiences real flight even in the simulation world. Our simulation framework increases practicality than other common simulation that ignore real environment and sensor.
This study evaluated the risk of foodborne illness from highly pathogenic Vibrio spp. (Vibrio vulnificus and V. cholerae) by raw whip-arm octopus (Octopus minor) consumption. In total 180 samples of raw whip-arm octopus were collected from markets and examined for the prevalence of V. vulnificus and V. cholerae. Predictive models describing the kinetic behavior of Vibrio spp. in raw whip-arm octopus were developed, and the data on amounts and frequency of raw whip-arm octopus consumption were collected. Using the collected data, a risk assessment simulation was conducted to estimate the probability of foodborne illness raw whip-arm octopus consumption using @RISK. Initial contamination levels of Vibrio spp. in raw whip-arm octopus were -3.9 Log colony-forming unit/g, as estimated by beta distribution fitting. The developed predictive models were appropriate to describe Vibrio spp. in raw whip-arm octopus during distribution and storage with R2 values of 0.946-0.964. The consumption frequency and daily consumption amounts of raw whip-arm octopus per person were 0.47% and 57.65 g, respectively. The probability of foodborne illness from raw whip-arm octopus consumption was estimated to be 8.71 × 10-15 for V. vulnificus and 7.08 × 10-13 for V. cholerae. These results suggest that the risk of Vibrio spp. infection from raw whip-arm octopus consumption is low in South Korea.
Generally, container ships contain cargo holds with cell guides that serve to increase the container loading and unloading efficiency, minimize the space loss, and fix containers during the voyage. This paper describes a new quality management system for the cell guides of container ships (the so-called Trim Cell Guide system). The main functions of this system are the trimming of the point cloud obtained using a 3D scanner and an inspection simulation for cell guide quality. In other words, the raw point cloud of cell guides after construction is measured using a 3D scanner. Here, the raw point cloud contains a lot of noise and unnecessary information. Using the GUI interface supported by the system, the raw point cloud can be trimmed. The trimmed point cloud is used in a simulation for cell guide quality inspection. The RANSAC (Random Sample Consensus) algorithm is used for the transverse section representation of a cell guide at a certain height and applied for the calculation of the intervals between the cell guides and container. When the container hits the cell guides during the inspection simulation, the container is rotated horizontally and checked again for a possible collision. It focuses on a system that can be simulated with the same inspection process as in a shipyard. For a practicality review, we compared the precision data gained from an inspection simulation with the measured data. As a result, it was confirmed that these values were within approximately ${\pm}2mm$.

Commercial uses of GPS have been growing rapidly with applications for aircraft, ship, and land vehicle navigation as well as for surveying and time keeping. The next generation GPS and Japanese QZS (Quasi Zenith Satellite) will provide three different civil signals. Galileo will also provide several types of civil signals. The availability of the third civil frequency has obvious advantages to instantaneous carrier phase accuracy and ambiguity resolution for centimeter level measurements. This paper discusses the effects of additional new civil signals for the high accuracy positioning in urban areas based on simulation using practical raw data. As for constellation, only GPS and GPS+QZS are considered. For positioning, a short distance baseline is assumed in order to disregard atmosphere effects. In this simulation, mask angle and signal conditions were fixed and ambiguity success rates were compared between different triple frequency combination scenarios. The coefficient of reflection was set randomly from 0.05 to 0.5 and the multipath delay was also set randomly from 5-100 m. Visible satellites and signal strength were determined by raw data collected in Tokyo by car. These simulation results have confirmed that the availability of high accuracy positioning will increase in all scenarios if we use GPS+QZS with triple frequencies.
Recently, a variety of modeling studies have been conducted to examine the air quality over South Korea during the Korea - United States Air Quality (KORUS-AQ) campaign period (May 1 to June 10, 2016). This study investigates the impact of different meteorological initializations on atmospheric modeling results. We conduct several simulations during the KORUS-AQ period using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model with two different initial datasets, which is FNL of NCEP and ERA5 of ECMWF. Comparing the raw initial data, ERA5 showed better accuracy in the temperature, wind speed, and mixing ratio fields than those of NCEP-FNL. On the other hand, the results of WRF simulations with ERA5 showed better accuracy in the simulated temperature and mixing ratio than those with FNL, except for wind speed. Comparing the nudging efficiency of temperature and wind speed fields, the grid nudging effect on the FNL simulation was larger than that on the ERA5 simulation, but the results of mixing ratio field was the opposite. Overall, WRF simulation with ERA5 data showed a better performance for temperature and mixing ratio simulations than that with FNL data. For wind speed simulation, however, WRF simulation with FNL data indicated more accurate results compared to that with ERA5 data.
To evaluate the building energy performance, many building simulation programs are used and its capabilities are developed. Despite of its increased capabilities the weather data used In the Building Energy performance evaluation, are still using the same limited set of data. This often forces users to find or calculate weather data such as illuminance, solar radiation, and ground temperature from other sources to calculate it. Also, proper selection of a right weather data set has been considered as one of important factors for a successful building energy simulation. In this paper, we describe TMY2 data, a generalized weather data format developed for use, and applied to Seoul region and examine the differences comparing to existing weather data. A set of 23 years raw weather data base has been developed to provide the weather data file for building energy analysis in Seoul.
