  • This study was conducted to standardize ingredient ratios of wooung kimchi. The ingredient ratios of model wooung kimchiwere determined by the survey in Pusan and Kyungnam province and using the literatures including cooking books. Several kinds of wooung kimchi were prepared by adjusting the ingredient ratios fo the model wooung kimchi within standard deviation. The wooung kimchi with different ingredient ratios were fermented for 6 days at 15$^{\circ}C$. The chemical, microbial and sensory properties of the wooung kimchi were investigated. There was little change in pH but the counts of lactic acid bacteria were decreased, as the ratio of pickled anchovy juice became high. The wooung kimchi adding 9.4% pickled anchovy juice obtained high score in appearance and overall acceptability. The counts of lactic acid bacteria were increased in wooung kimchi adding 5% red pepper powder, and there was obtained better result in appearance, texture and overall acceptability than the other groups. The activity, reducing sugar and counts of lactic acid bacteria were increased, as the ratio of glutinous rice paste became high. The wooung kimchi including 6% glutinous rice paste showed the highest score in overall acceptability. The fermentation process of wooung kimchi accelerated, as the ratio of garlic became high. The wooung kimchi adding 3% garlic showed good appearance and acceptability. In addition to these, the addition of 1.3% ginger ehhanced the appearance, texture and overall acceptability fermented anchovy juice, 5.0% red pepper powder, 6.0% glutinous rice paste, 3.0% crushed garlic and 1.3% crushed ginger.

  • This paper presents the performance analysis of 10[Gb/s] optical duobinary transmitters with the non-ideal Mach-Zehnder modulator which does not have exactly 50/50 splitting/combining ratios by computer simulations. For driving voltage ratios(=driving voltage/switching voltage) with smaller than 100[%], the transmission performance has been greatly affected by extension of LPF bandwidths. Nevertheless, the performance has been degraded when the driving voltage ratio is 100[%]. The smaller driving voltage ratios has, the more sensitivity improves by extension of LPF bandwidths under the asymmetry condition. But the driving voltage ratio with 80[%] has better bit error rate(BER) than those with 50[%] and 25[%].

  • This study analyzes the engineering characteristics of mortar according to admixture replacement ratios in cement mortar in a high-intensity ternary system, and changes in FA and BS combination ratios, in order to deduce the optimal combination ratio of FA and BS. Results showed that due to the characteristics of unhardened mortar, flow rate increased with the increase in admixture replacement and FA combination ratios, whereas air quantity decreased and setting time was delayed. Due to the characteristics of light mortar, compression strength decreased at early material ages as the overall combination ratio of FA increased. The FA : BS combination ratio was 2 : 3 on day 28 of material age, proving the best and potentially optimal combination ratio.

  • Purpose: The purpose of present study was to develop a method for assessing the chronological age of Korean adults based on the relationship between age and size of pulp cavity using dental radiographs of mandibular first molars. Methods: A total of 325 dental radiographs of Korean adults with known age and gender were selected for the study (199 males and 126 females) which were taken in the period between January 2009 and June 2014 at the Pusan National University Dental Hospital. The measurements were carried out on both orthopantomographs (OPGs) and intraoral periapical radiographs of mandibular first molar and the following ratios were calculated: pulp chamber floor height ratio (F/L), pulp chamber ceiling height ratio (R/L), and pulp chamber depth ratio (D/L). Results: The ratios of measurements on intraoral periapical images of mandible first molar generally produce more reliable data than the measurements on OPGs. The pulp chamber floor height ratio and pulp chamber thickness ratio showed significant correlation with age, whereas the pulp chamber ceiling height ratios showed weak correlation with age. It was found that the best correlations between the ratios and age were found for pulp chamber thickness ratios (r=-0.731 to -0.751). The multiple regression models were derived using 3 ratios that were significantly correlated with age. The determination coefficients ($R^2$) of the models ranged from 0.556 to 0.596. Conclusions: Our results indicate that the pulp chamber thickness and pulp chamber floor height in mandibular first molar are an age-dependent variable in adults which can be used to estimate age with reasonable accuracy. The higher image quality of dental radiographs will probably narrow the age estimation error and improve dental age estimation.

  • To utilize wind resources effectively around buildings in urban area, the magnitudes of wind velocity and turbulence intensity are important, which means the need of the information about the relationship between the magnitude of wind velocity and that of fluctuating wind velocity. In the paper, wind-tunnel experiments were performed to provide the information about Characteristic of Wind flow around buildings with the spanwise distance and the side ratio of buildings as variables. For a single building with the side ratios of one and two, the average velocity ratio was 1.4 and the velocity standard deviation ratio ranged from 1.4 to 2.6 at the height of 0.02m at the corner of the windward side, in which flow separation occurred. For twin buildings with the side ratios of one and two, the velocity ratio ranged from 2 to 2.5 as the spanwise distance varied at the height of 0.02m, and the velocity standard deviation ratio varied near 1.25. For twin buildings with the side ratios of one and two, the maximum velocity ratio was 1.75 at the height of 0.6m, and the maximum velocity standard deviation ratio was 2.1. It was also found from the results of CFD analysis and wind-tunnel experiments that for twin buildings with the side ratios of one and two, the difference between the velocity ratio of CFD analysis and that of wind-tunnel experiments at streamwise distances was near 0.75.

  • Flow patterns around a rotating circular cylinder having square dimpled surface were visualized by the hydrogen bubble technique at velocity ratios from a=0 to 4.8 and Reynolds number of Re=1.0${\times}$10$^4$. The wake region of the cylinder was reduced as the velocity ratios increase and was smaller than that of the smooth cylinder without dimples at the same velocity ratio. The hydrodynamic characteristics on the cylinder was investigated by measuring of lift and drag at velocity ratios from a=0 to 4.1 and Reynolds number from Re=1.2${\times}$10$^4$ to Re=2.0${\times}$10$^4$. As the velocity ratios increase, the average lift and drag coefficients were increased and at the same velocity ratio, the average lift was larger but the average drag was smaller than that of the smooth cylinder.

  • To provide the basic information for the water quality management of the Sumjin River Basin, delivery ratios for flow duration were studied. Using the day-interval data set of discharge and water quality observed from the Chooryeong-cheon watershed, the flow-duration and discharge-load relation curves for the watershed were established, then the load-duration curve was constructed. Delivery ratios for flow duration were also developed. Delivery ratios showed wide variation according to flow conditions. In general, delivery ratio of high flow condition showed higher value reflecting nonpoint source pollution contribution from the forest dominating watershed. To resolve this problem, a regression model explaining the relation between flow rate and delivery ratio was suggested. The delivery ratios for different flow regime could be used for pollutant load estimation and TMDL (Total maximum daily load) development.

  • Purpose : The lipid profile is a major predictive index for cardiovascular disease, but there have only been a few studies conducted on the relationship between lipid ratio and cardiovascular disease risk factors in the Korean population. To address this research gap, we investigated the association between three lipid ratios and cardiovascular disease risk factors among Korean adults. Methods : This study used data from the seventh Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted in 2016. Lipid ratios included triglyceride (TG)/high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL), total cholesterol (TC)/HDL, and low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL)/HDL. Cardiovascular risk factors included in this research were: systolic blood pressure $(SBP){\geq}140$, diastolic blood pressure $(DBP){\geq}90$, fasting blood sugar $(FBS){\geq}126$, $HbA1c{\geq}6.5$, body mass index $(BMI){\geq}25$, waist circumference (WC) $men{\geq}90$, $women{\geq}85$, and metabolic syndrome (MetS). A complex samples logistic regression test was performed to analyze the association between lipid ratios and cardiovascular disease risk factors. Results : 1) TG/HDL ratio had statistically significant relationships with DBP, FBS, HbA1c, BMI, WC and MetS. 2) TC/HDL ratio was correlated to SBP, DBP, FBS, BMI, WC, and MetS. 3) LDL/HDL ratio had association with BMI, WC, and MetS. Conclusion : We identified significant association between lipid ratios and cardiovascular disease risk factors. The three lipid ratios were particularly strongly associated with BMI, WC, and MetS.

  • In urban areas, appropriate backfilling design is necessary to prevent surface subsidence and subsurface cavities after excavation. Expandable foam grout (EFG), a mixture of cement, water, and an admixture, can be used for cavity filling because of its high flowability and volume expansion. EFG volume expansion induces a porous structure that can be quantified by the entrapped air content. This study observed the unit weight variations in the EFG before and after expansion depending on the various admixture-cement and water-cement ratios. Subsequently, the air content before and after expansion and the gravimetric expansion ratios were estimated from the measured unit weights. The air content before expansion linearly increased with an increase in the admixture-cement ratio, resulting in a decrease in the unit weight. The air content after the expansion and the expansion ratio increased nonlinearly, and the curves stabilized at a relatively high admixture-cement ratio. In particular, a reduced water-cement ratio limits the air content generation and expansion ratio, primarily because of the short setting time, even at a high admixture-cement ratio. Based on the results, the relationship between the maximum expansion ratio of EFG and the mixture ingredients (water-cement and admixture-cement ratios) was introduced.
