  • A standard fire extinguishing tester, with which we could conduct the fire extinguishing ability rating of a water-based fire extinguishing agent such as water and loaded stream, has been developed in this work. It could help us enhancing the efficiency and reliability of the fire extinguishing test of loaded streams, and at last increasing the productivity of fire protection related firms. Furthermore, our country could take the lead in making a new standard for the fire extinguishing test of loaded streams. As a result, it is expected that loaded streams could be improved by using it. In addition the standard fire extinguishing tester could be made moderately in our industry, and supplied at home and worldwide.

  • This study suggests a frequency matrix technique to predict personal credit rate more efficiently using incomplete data sets. At first this study test on multiple discriminant analysis and logistic regression analysis for predicting personal credit rate with incomplete data sets. Missing values are predicted with mean imputation method and regression imputation method here. An artificial neural network and frequency matrix technique are also tested on their performance in predicting personal credit rating. A data set of 8,234 customers in 2004 on personal credit information of Bank A are collected for the test. The performance of frequency matrix technique is compared with that of other methods. The results from the experiments show that the performance of frequency matrix technique is superior to that of all other models such as MDA-mean, Logit-mean, MDA-regression, Logit-regression, and artificial neural networks.

  • Kolmogorov-Smirnov(K-S) statistic has been widely used for the model validation of credit rating models. Validation criteria for the K-S statistic is empirically used at the levels of 0.3 or 0.4 which are much larger than the critical values of K-S test statistic. We examine whether these criteria are reasonable and appropriate through the simulations according to various sample sizes, type II error rates, and the ratio of bads among data. The simulation results say that the currently used validation criteria are too lower than values of K-S statistics obtained from any credit rating models in Korea, so that any credit rating models have good discriminatory power. In this work, alternative criteria of K-S statistic are proposed as critical levels under realistic situations of credit rating models.

  • This study explored the rating tendency of online university learners in their course evaluations and its effects on the course evaluation results. Data including the subjects' demographic information, learning activities, rating tendency, and course evaluation results were collected from 1,098 learners in an online university in the spring semester of 2015. There were three main findings. First, the subjects showed distinctive rating tendencies in participation rates for course evaluation and rating consistency. The participation rates went from one extreme (0%) to the other (100%), and the rating consistency among the test items was highly related to that among the courses as a whole. Second, the subjects showed different tendencies in terms of course evaluation period, rating consistency, and course evaluation results according to demographic information and learning activities. Third, course evaluation results were independently affected by demographic information, learning activities, and rating consistency. The study was meaningful in that it explored learners' rating tendencies concretely and suggested that such tendencies should be considered in analyzing course evaluation results.

  • We try to test the pecking order theory of Korean fisheries firm's capital structure using debt capacity. At first, we estimate the debt capacity as the probability of assigning corporate bond rating from credit-rating agencies. We use logit regression model to estimate this probability as a proxy of debt capacity. The major results of this study are as follows. Firstly, we can confirm the fisheries firm's financing behaviour which issues new debt securities for financial deficit. Empirical test of SSM model indicates that the higher probability of assigning corporate bond rating, the higher the coefficient of financial deficit. Especially, high probability group follows this result exactly. Therefore, the pecking order theory of fisheries firm's capital structure applies well for high probability group which means high debt capacity. It also applies for medium and low probability group, but their significances are not good. Secondly, the most of fisheries firms in high probability group issue new debt securities for their financial deficit. Low probability group's fisheries firms also issue new debt securities for their financial deficit within the limit of their debt capacity, but beyond debt capacity they use equity financing for financial deficit. Therefore, the pecking order theory on debt capacity come into existence well in high probability group.

  • Referring to the calculation of the continuous permissible current rating in 22.9kV CN/CV underground distribution power cables, the current and temperature have been fully discussed and analyzed based on their three different values: one is the actually measured value throughout our test and the other two are calculated in connection with different specifications IEC-287 and JCS-168-D respectively. For this purpose, our test has been carried out with real cables which have been under stress either with induced current or with rating voltage. In the former, the calculated current of IEC-287 shows closer value to the measured one than that of JCS-168-D does. In the latter, there has been little difference on the temperature comparing with that measured without voltage application. Therefore, we think that it is preferable to choose the IEC-287 specification for the calculation of the continuous permissible current rating in the commercially power cables.

  • The purposes of this study are to present the criteria for a sensibility rating scale for measuring the general women's perception of museums' spatial environment, through an empirical analysis; and to clarify the characteristics of the presented rating scale in terms of each rating element and factor. For this study, a survey was conducted during August 19 - September 16, 2010, and a total of 342 museum visitors participated in the survey. A sensibility rating scale used for the survey consisted of a total of 32 adjectives selected from a literature review of previous studies. To specify the dimensions of semantic space using the semantic adjectives, words with opposite meanings were analyzed with the semantic differential technique developed by Osgood et al. Using SPSS, a reliability analysis, factor analysis were conducted on the data obtained from the survey. The results of this study can be summarized as follows: According to the women's perception of museums' spatial environment, six factors were found from the 25 semantic ratings of the Museum. The summarized criteria were: 'aesthetic', 'pleasant', 'valuable', 'function', 'affinity', and 'material.' The derived criteria were verified through an empirical test using emotional adjectives. In the coming years, the results of this study will serve as valuable data for constructing a sensibility rating scale for evaluating spatial environments of museums.

  • Objective: The purposes of this experiment are an analysis of accuracy between target force level and subjective rating for the Target Force Level and an analysis of the patterns of subjective rating depending on target force level when there is no feedback from males for analysis. Background: The study of perceived exertion about the static contraction is processed with using among the matching procedure method between contralateral limbs, Exertion vs. Borg CR-10 scale and Exertion vs. %MVC (Maximum Voluntary Contraction). However, when there is no feedback, there is lack of the study on whether the subject can distinguish the subjective rating of the force depending on the target force levels. Method: Total 30 males, healthy subjects are measured the maximum grip strength, MVC, and then, each subject is measured the subjective rating and the accuracy with the random target force level (10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70, 80, and 90% MVC). Results: In the MVC study, males exerted 256.87N (${\pm}51.33$). In the subjective rating of grip strength increased for each Target Force Level (9 levels), higher subjective rating evaluated (p<0.05). In accuracy examination between target force level and subjective rating of grip strength by each %MVC, 10, 30, 40, 50, 70, 90% target force levels showed accurate strength (p>0.05). However, at 20% target force level, the subjects evaluated less subjective rating of grip strength than the target force (Underestimation), and at 60% and 80% target force level, the subjects evaluated more subjective rating of grip strength than the target force (Overestimation) (p<0.05). Conclusion: In the experiment, the MVC showed 256.87N (${\pm}51.33$) for the male adults and as the subjective rating value increased for each Target Force Level (9 levels), higher subjective rating evaluated (p<0.05). Moreover, the results of the accuracy test between target forces and subjective rating of the subjects showed that most participants rated a fairly accurate assessment of subjective rating of grip strength for Target Force Level (9 levels), except for 20%, 60%, and 80%MVC. Application: This experimental result would be used for basic data for the subjective rating of grip strength pattern by the target force level when the voluntary muscle is contracted.
