  • Railway is huge traffic system which is operated organically combining all the elements; vehicle, track, electric power, signal/communication, operation, etc. Safety level has ben improved steadily by learning lessons from past accident. But with rapid progress in high-speed, massive, high-frequency transit fresh idea of accident prevention is now in order. In quest of effective and efficient countermeasure, we aim to establish an adequate safety evaluation/management method. Our proposals are basic concept relating to safety analysis of fatal accidents, AHP of Saaty, Fuzzy AHP.

  • Based on the rapid development of information technology (IT) including networks, manufacturing environment faces more customer engagement, global collaboration, greater emphasis on agility, increasing reach and connectivity through world-wide web, and micro transaction tracking and intelligence to name a few. The new ideas of manufacturing concept, eManufacturing is discussed in view of IT. In specific, a framework to identify.   • The observational method using field measurement technique have contributed significantly to advancements in the state-of-the art of geotechnical engineering in the 20th century. Due to the rapid development in computer technology, Internet and GIS have become an integral part of civil engineering project management. This paper presents new technologies and development in observational method which have valuable implication on field measurement in geotechnical engineering. Systematic approach to planning monitoring program in geotechnical instrumentation is also presented. Finally, research needs in development and application of integrated design/construction management system in geotechnical engineering projects are discussed.

Fatal accident in Korean Construction Industry in Comparisons with the UK Figures

  • In spite of the rapid economic growth in Korea, safety cultures in construction industry have not much improved during last ten years. When it is compared to other developed countries of safety, accident rate of Korean construction sites shows bleak figures. This study compares the safety figures of Korea with the UK figures in order to find out what is needed for the safety of the construction sites in Korea. By comparing occupations, age groups, kind of accident, and agent, this study found several differences and similarities, and derived the directions for better safety management.

  • It is very important to delivery timely and safely items in logistics. So, the home delivery service system is introduced by many enterprises. Also, the beginning in 1990's, the rapid increase of automobile increased logistics cost and led to road stagnation. So, the railway transportation use in logistics can be considered. The railway transportation in home delivery service system can overcome the limit of transportation by land. This study evaluate railway transportation in home delivery service system by economical efficiency and timeliness.

  • The victims of fire are increasing steadily. Fires have been occurred by arson, spontaneous combustion and various causes. As a result of that, the damages of fire got out of hand. Especially, the fires of flammable liquids are can be spreaded easily because of high calorific value and fire loads. These rapid fire spread cause the huge losses of both life and property and the malfunction of extinguishing systems. In these studies, we examined the spread pattern of surface fire on the water surface by the reappearance experiment.

  • Computer has been many effect in diverse field of mankind and it brings development of educational field like CAI. Also development of internet and If bring rapid growth of cyber school and it is required multimedia environment and efficient cyber school construction package for efficient management. In this paper we develop multimedia education-network construction package for cyber school using intranet. It will reduce the cost of management and construction for small and medium size cyber school, and it will raise efficiency of cyber school.

  • Recently, growth of internet causes rapid changes in many areas of statistics such as statistical computation and analysis. Especially, bootstrap is the most interesting statistical methods applying computer resampling simulation. In this paper, we try to present how to use a method of bootstrap on the internet. We also develop to user a statistical system which is programed with ASP for user to handle easily in manufacturing system.
