  • In this paper, we study the river level/velocimetry measuring system using the ultrasonic sensor to acquire the more precise data from the river circumstance in rainy season. We design the two ultrasonic sensor system to calculate the water level and surface current speed of the river using the dedicated hardware and software. We investigate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed system which applied to the real river environment monitoring system that will be extended to the GIS.

  • In the pilling works in the city, it is tend to transfered to the non-vibration pilling works. This drop-hammer pilling executed with in 2 meters distance to neighbour building structure. in the rainy season. According to imperical formula which tested in similar site, Vibration damaged area is within 14 meters radius from drop-hammer pilling site. • Losses of nitrogenin the gaseous form were determined with closed systems in the filed under different vegetation types. Ammonia volatilization was greatest from the pine stand, and least from the sod stand, and was greatly reduced in all three sites in the rainy season due to the low temperature. There were only insignificant differences in the nitrogen dioxide volatilization from the soil of the three vegetation types. Losses of ammonia and nitrogen dioxide at various soil depth also showed little variation. Evidently the microbial activity responsible for the $NO_2$ loss was relatively unaffected by the changes in temperature and soil moisture content during the investigation.

  • Discharge characteristics of organic materials and nutrients were estimated in the catchment area of relaimed area-Saemankeum-. Discharge load of BOD5 was high in the domestic system, while nitrogen and phosphorous were discharged mainly from the livestock system and the land . Load was so dependent on the precipitation that it increased in the rainy season, particulary in nitrogen and phosphorus. Loads from nonpoint sources in this area were higher compared with others.

  • A total of 65 rain gauges with Automatic Weather Station(AWS) were used to regional analysis of precipitation. Nine cluster regions were identified using geographical locations, maximum, mean, standard deviation of 1 day maximum rainfalls, mean annual precipitation and rainfall of rainy season in Korea. The mean annual precipitation, geographical locations, and the synoptic generating mechanisms were used to identify th five climatological homogeneous regions in Korea. Number of final regions by mean annual precipitation and cluster methods divided into five regions in Korea.

  • This paper describes the result of wearing test on the Sangju test track. The purpose of the test is to evaluate an amount of wearing for EMU's panto shoes. Panto shoes are affected in wearing by environment of owing to expose the vehicle. Especially, the rainy season, they are found easy to get an increase in wearing of panto shoes. To evaluate an amount of wearing, we ca]lied out running test for 5 months under the ground line conditions.

  • A rainfall simulation and forecasting technique that can generate daily rainfall sequences conditional on multi-model ensemble GCMs is developed and applied to data in Korea for the major rainy season. The GCM forecasts are provided by APEC climate center. A Weather State Based Downscaling Model (WSDM) is used to map teleconnections from ocean-atmosphere data or key state variables from numerical integrations of Ocean-Atmosphere General Circulation Models to simulate daily sequences at multiple rain gauges. The method presented is general and is applied to the wet season which is JJA(June-July-August) data in Korea. The sequences of weather states identified by the EM algorithm are shown to correspond to dominant synoptic-scale features of rainfall generating mechanisms. Application of the methodology to seasonal rainfall forecasts using empirical teleconnections and GCM derived climate forecast are discussed.

  • In this study, specific pollutant releases during the Asian monsoon season were estimated and the information was applied to the non-point pollutant sources management from two forested watersheds of the Soyang Lake. The two watersheds are part of the 2,703 km2 Soyang Lake watershed in the northern region of the Han River. The outlets of the two watersheds were respectively analyzed for continuous water quality concentration and for discharge during various single rainfall events. Statistical power function methods are utilized to compare stream discharge and pollutant flux release during the study period. Based on the monitoring data during the study period, the specific load flux method using simulated discharge was conducted and validated in the two watersheds. The model predictions corresponded well with the measured and calculated pollutant releases. The modeling approach taken in this study was found to be applicable for the two forested watersheds.

  • In order to investigate water pollution of heavy metals in the Nagdong Estuary, samples were collected five times from August 1978 to April 1979 every other month, and analyzed for Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The results showed no significant heavy metal pollution in most parts of the studied areas, except near the outfalls of the Sasang Industrial Complex. In general, the heavy metal contents were higher in the dry season than in the rainy season due to the dilution effect of river water flow. Distribution of heavy metals in the dissolved and the particulate fractions were also investigated.

  • One of the landslide, Debris flow means flow mixed of rocks, gravels, sand and soil with water. Debris flow occurred in summer by passed the rainy season and typhoon. Especially, Localized heavy rain derived from abnormal weather caused debris flow independent of season. It is increase to collapse of house, bridge, roads by debris flow but countermeasure studies about occurrence cause, movement pattern, damage scale about debris flow are insufficient. This study performed debris flow model experiment using dry material and calculated shock force predicted debris flow occurrence.
