Greater expansion and more frequent operation of the railroad transportation system anticipated due to its characteristics including low cost, safety and mass transportation. Recently, effects on the railway structures due to expansion of newly constructed road, construction of subway, city gas pipeline, communication network, electric power network and construction of other railway underground crossing in accordance with urban planning and organization has influenced safe operation of trains. Accordingly, standard for selection of construction method that will enable construction of more economical and rational subway underground crossing structures by preventing problems occurring at the time of above construction works and accidents in safe operation of trains due to construction in advance is definitively necessary. Although there are numerous construction methods that can be applied at the time of construction of railway underground crossing, there are much difficulties in selection of appropriate construction method that considers characteristics of each construction method on non-excavation type construction method, train operation plan of number of operational routes and on-site circumstances. Therefore, this research aims to present rational standard for selection of construction method for such, and standard for slowdown speed and interception of train when passing the areas of slowdown in sectors under construction.

Railway is an important transportation tool for nation's industrial development and public daily life. These days the concern about railway has remarkably been rising due to the April 2004 opening of KTX, Korea High Speed Rail, together with Trans-Continental Railways linking North Korea, China, Russia, through European countries. In the meantime, the issues of train safety and efficiency, arising from the different on-board signaling systems installed on different kinds of trains, have been raised incessantly. In this paper CTCS(Continental Train Control System) is suggested, which can accommodate such various signaling functions as ATP, ATC, ATS, etc. into one single type of on-board signaling system and operate without changing ground signaling systems on the junctions of the Trans-Continental Railways. The development of this CTCS would cause speed-up of exiting lines and possession of railway core solutions for establishing Northeast Asia logistics center bases, which could be an important cornerstone for domestic railway improvements and Korea's role of Northeast Hub.

To establish the national railway safety system, the railway total safety technology development project has been promoted by Ministry of Construction and Transportation (MOCT) since August 2004. The project is mainly focused on the prevention of a critical railway accident and the reduction of accident/mortality rate. To achieve its goal effectively, the project is composed of 15 sub-projects each of which can be categorized into three different technological area. This work deals with the verification results for the outcomes of the sub-projects carried out at the 2nd year of the project. A new verification procedure is developed and applied to the project based on the system engineering. Three criterions - The suitability of the realization of a function, the suitability of a physical structure, the suitability of a design analysis report - are used for the verifications. The verification results are investigated by calculating standard deviations of scores of each results.

Smart materials can adapt to changes of environment like living organs in nature such that they can maximize the performance and minimize the maintenance expense of engineering systems. Such materials have been paid attention ten years ago and applied in the area of industry, aerospace, transportation and civil structures. This paper summarizes smart material technology and shows some application examples in railway vehicles. Also, its future of smart material technology in railway vehicle technology is envisaged based on its possibility and practical aspect.

2007년 7월부터 시행되고 있는 수도권 대중교통 통합요금제는 이용자의 통행비용 절감 및 활발한 환승행위의 유도로 긍정적인 평가를 얻고 있다. 그러나 수도권 대중교통 통합요금제를 고려한 철도 수요예측 방법론, 특히 수단분담과 관련된 연구가 많지 않았다. 이에 본 연구는 수도권 대중교통 통합요금제를 반영할 수 있는 수단별 효용산정기법을 제시하였으며, 2006년 가구통행실태조사 자료를 활용하여 통행시간과 통행비용 산정에 적용되는 계수를 현실화하였다. 그리고 다양한 요금제를 적용하기 위한 철도 수요예측 방법론을 제시하였다. 본 연구에서 제시한 철도 수요예측 방법론은 철도 수요예측의 정확성과 유용성을 향상시키는데 기여할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

The traffic policy of a city in Korea has brought to many traffic problems by putting emphasis on the only side of mobility in the past that the personal transportation was put first in importance more than the public transportation. As the result of this policy, in the process that the traffic policy of large cities in Korea changes into accessibility, it is shown for re-lighting up the development of the public transportation to be going to be able to get many suggestions in searching for the desirable developing direction of the new means of transportation that will arrive at Korea in the future. Especially, compared with the policy of U.S.A. on the traffic plan that has concentrated on the road and the vehicle, and that of Europe that has put first in the walking and the public transportation system, it is considered as an important thing that the lesson is given to us about what is important for the desirable city development. Transportation can be divided into four; a railroad transportation. a road transportation, a marine transportation, and an aerial transportation.

Bulk freight is transported by a freight car, ship and tank lorry without packaging in a state of particles or powders. In korea, the main bulk freight include oil, grain, coal, cement, iron ore and these are occupied nearly 30% of the volume of gross domestic freight transportation. Therefore it is in important to transport efficient bulk freight transport system for the improvement of national distribution competitive as raw material for industry. Generally environment-friendly transfer modes such as railway and sea transport play an important role in bulk freight transport due to the mass transfer characteristics of bulk freight. This study is carried out for examining the problem of oil, grain, coal, cement, ore transportation through analyzing distribution flow of items and understanding characters of transfer modes.

This comparative study means the case studies about not only coalition and partnership but also competition between high speed rail and other transportation modes. Therefore, I reviewed the each case about some countries and tried to develop for making some measurement. However, in this study, some bounds and limits exists owing to the descriptive reviews but not detailed analyses. Hereafter, I am planning to consider the management plan for efficient railway coalition with other transportation at the rail station and other terminal facilities.

본 논문에서는 실제 철도 건널목(교차로)에서 발생하는 소음 및 진동, 차량 및 보행자 사고와 같은 위험 요소로부터 발생하는 위험 상황들을 분류하고, 철도 건널목(교차로) 운행 상황을 구현한 모형 철도 주변에 센서를 부착하여 철도 건널목에서 발생하는 위험 요소들을 아두이노 센서로 감지해 데이터를 수집한다. 또한 수집된 데이터들을 활용하여 사용자의 상황에 맞는 철도데이터 운영시스템을 제안한다.

A Development on integration of Railroad System and Production of Proto multiple type vehicle, which can run without change of vehicle or Bogie under running conditions of every countries, are needed for the transportation between. Asia and Europe. An integration of Railroad System will benefit not only the transportation costs but also the time drastically, which is very meaningful for the modern international trading.
