  • 고속철도 산업의 핵심 요소 중 하나인 선로전환기는 열차의 진로를 제어해주는 부품으로, 해당 설비의 노후화를 조기에 탐지하여 적절한 시기에 선로전환기를 교체하는 것은 안정적인 철도운영에서 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 선로전환기의 작동 시 발생하는 전류 신호를 이용하여 선로전환기의 노후화를 탐지하는 시스템을 제안한다. 제안하는 시스템은 선로전환기로부터 전류 신호를 취득한 후, 주파수 도메인의 특징인 SK값으로 변환하여 특징벡터를 추출하고, PCA를 이용하여 SK벡터의 차원 축소와 동시에 중요한 특징들만을 선택한다. 마지막으로, 선로전환기의 노후화를 탐지하는 문제를 이진 클래스 문제로 해석하여, 기계학습의 대표적 모델인 SVM을 이용하여 선로전환기의 노후화 여부를 탐지한다. 실제 국내에서 운행 중인 선로전환기의 전류 신호를 취득하여 실험한 결과, 선로전환기의 노후화 상황을 안정적으로 탐지함을 확인하였다.

Development of simulator by induced contact loss phenomenon for high-speed train operation (고속전철 주행에 따른 이선현상 모의 시뮬레이터 개발)

  • In this study, the dynamic characteristic of a contact wire and pantograph suppling electrical power to high-speed trains are investigated from an electrical response point of view. To analysis power line disturbance by induced contact loss phenomenon for high speed operation, a hardware Simulator which considered contact loss between contact wire and the pantograph as well as contact wire deviation is developed. It is confirmed that a contact wire and pantograph model are necessary for studying the dynamic behavior of the pantograph system. One of the most important needs accompanied by increasing the speed of high-speed train is reduced that an arc phenomenon by loss of contact brings out EMI. In case of a high-speed train using electrical power, as comparison with diesel rolling stock, PLD(Power Line Disturbance) such as harmonic, transient voltage and current, EMI, dummy signal injection etc usually occurs. Throughout experiment, it is verified that an arc phenomenon is brought out for simulator operation and consequently conducted noise is flowed in electric circuit by power line disturbance.

  • A great deal of development has been made in the field of railroad control in Korea. Like the recent High speed railroad (KTX) and the intercity light rail train (LRT) are being vigorously promoted. Therefore, in concert with the new railroad development projects, improved train control technics are being applied. Along with the focus on these newly developed advanced technologies the need for a reliable safety system for the safety of the passengers and railroad control personnel alike is being intensified. New safety facilities are continuously being developed in order to safely introduce and develop these new technologies. There is an urgent need for research and development of safety facilities for the implementation of the presently developed facilities as well as for the presently being used. Therefore, this research will study the safe operation of Korean railroad and the implementation situation of the class, functionality, ensured safety range etc. of the safety facilities for users and operators. In studying the material of the kinds of implemented safety facilities and technologies being used abroad we have researched into the most suitable direction of development of safety facilities for the Korean railroad environment.

Running Monitoring by the Noise and Vibration Measurement near the Wheelset of the High-Speed Trains : A Preliminary Research (고속철도차량 윤축부근의 소음과 진동 측정을 통한 주행중 감시의 기초연구)

  • This paper is focused on the analysis of the noise and vibration measured near the wheelset of the high-speed trains using a time-varying frequency transform as a preliminary research of running monitoring. Due to the non-stationary characteristics, it is necessary to examine noise and vibration of the train with time-varying frequency transforms. In this paper, the short-time Fourier transform method is utilized - the stored data is localized by modulating with a window function, and Fourier transform is taken to each localized data. For the examination, the non-stationary noise and vibration of the high-speed train's wheelset are measured by using some microphones and accelerometers, and those signals are stored in a on-board data acquisition system. The non-stationary random signal analyses with the short-time Fourier transform are performed, and the result are classified as follows; auto-spectral density, cross-spectral density, frequency response, and coherence functions. From those functions, it is possible to observe the frequency characteristics of sleepers, switchers, tunnels, and steel bridges. Also, some distinct peaks, which are not dependent upon the train's speed, are identified from the results.

  • As mechanical facilities are interacting with each other, the failure of some equipment can affect the entire system, so it is necessary to quickly detect and diagnose the abnormality of mechanical equipment. This study proposes a deep learning model that can effectively diagnose abnormalities in rotating machinery and equipment. CNN is widely used for feature extraction and LSTMs are known to be effective in learning sequential information. In LSTM, the number of parameters and learning time increase as the length of input data increases. In this study, we propose a method of segmenting an input segment signal into shorter-length sub-segment signals, sequentially inputting them to CNN through a time-distributed method for extracting features, and inputting them into LSTM. A failure diagnosis test was performed using the vibration data collected from the motor for ventilation equipment installed at the urban railway station. The experiment showed an accuracy of 99.784% in fault diagnosis. It shows that the proposed method is effective in the fault diagnosis of rotating machinery and equipment.

Performance Analysis for MIMO Multiuser Systems considering Selection of Transmit Antennas, Constellations and Powers in Low-to-medium Mobile Speed (중저속 이동체환경에서의 MIMO시스템 기반 안테나 선택과 전력할당 성능분석)

  • In this paper, using received channel information, we analyze performance in MIMO multiuser system in low-to-medium mobile speed by selecting each user's constellations, powers, and transmit antennas. Given a target of symbol error, we determine each user's constellations, powers, selected tranprobability smit antennas such that the required signal-to-noise(SNR) is minimized for MMSE, V-BLAST receiver according to each user's information and channel estimation information. When we do power control with antenna selection technique through uplink channels of MIMO system in low-to-medium mobile speed, we analyze system performance with wireless channel information from Base-Station(BS) to Users. By simulation, it has been shown that the proposed antenna selection scheme for transmitting data offer better performance improvement than all transmit antennas for transmitting data.

The Improvement of Electrical Point Machine Wiring Set (선로전환기(NS)의 배선세트 개선)

  • An Electrical Point Machine (NS:New-type Switch), which is equipped and operated at railways in Korea, has been used since the 1960s after being imported from Japan. On the other hand, although the mechanical configuration has improved the position motor control circuit, the electrical connection has not been improved, so NS may have a problem, such as the interlocking system of automatic train operation. In addition, NS is the most vulnerable part in the railway system and a huge train accident may occur due to minor defects. The existing NS wiring set of the circuit controller should be checked only if fixed. Therefore, an excessive inspection time only by a Railroad Signal expert is required. In this paper, the improvement of electrical connection in a NS wiring set, such as the position motor control circuit, was developed and the prototype was installed at Seoul Metro in the distance to go section. The results can be used to help make appropriate adjustments. The improvement of the NS wiring set enhance the maintenance efficiency, passenger service and the stability of the signal system as well as reducing the maintenance cost.

Analysis of the acceleration measured on Korea and France high speed railways using UIC518 code (UIC518 방법에 의한 국내 및 프랑스 고속철도 차량 진동가속도 분석)

  • Track irregularities can be evaluated not only directly by track inspection but also indirectly by measurement of carbody accelerations and many researches are being conducted. Carbody accelerations were measured on the Kyeongbu high speed railway and France high speed line to investigate the situation of the track maintenance at Korea high speed line by using indirect method. Digital signal processing for the measured acceleration data were conducted according to UIC518 code. Since the vehicle speed affects the car body acceleration, the lateral and vertical acceleration of the car body were classified according to the vehicle speed and the distribution characteristics of these acceleration were investigated and evaluated by UIC518 criteria. Finally, the running behavior of KTX on Korea high speed railway were compared with that on France. Distribution characteristics of these acceleration were evaluated and discussed in terms of the track maintenance in Korea high speed line.

Evaluation for Optimal HUD Location on a Train Using EEG (뇌파를 이용한 열차 최적의 HUD위치 평가)

  • This paper suggested a new evaluation method for optimal HUD position through a correlation based on between biological signal as and statistical analysis which using (Electroencephalogram, EEG) and ANOVA. This experiment was conducted two kinds of method to evaluate the optimal HUD position. At first, visual stimulus suggested from six different positions(the top and the bottom of the left, the top and the bottom of the center and the top and the bottom of the right on the screen) in laboratory and an object image was shown for 30 seconds in a screen which has $235{\times}197cm2$ size. And second, HUD image was configured from three different positions and an object image was shown for 30 seconds in a screen. EEG, which used ${\alpha}$-wave and ${\beta}$-wave for evaluate an emotional stability, were measured from Fp1, Fp2, F7 and F8 channel based on ten to twenty electrode system. From the result in laboratory, F7 ${\beta}$-wave was shown statistically significant to significance probability of 0.006 and between ${\alpha}$-wave and ${\beta}$-wave were showed a negative correlation(r=-0.190). Also, Both the top of left and the bottom of center were showed lower ${\beta}$-wave than the bottom of right. From the result in railway simulator, Fp1 ${\beta}$-wave was appeared statistically significant as significance probability of 0.033 and it was showed lower ${\beta}$-wave than center. The outcome of this study will be helpful about evaluation of optimal HUD position through correlation between alpha wave and beta wave.

Railroad accident analysis and countermeasure (철도사고 분석과 대책)

  • Most railroad accidents are due to human errors. In particular, most of the causes of these accidents are faults of an engine driver, such as lack of signal confirmation, insecure braking, driving by guess or force of habit. This paper identifies a problem(s) by analyzing accidents for the past 10 years and also seeks a solution to train good engine drivers in order to prevent railroad accidents. In summary, what is needed are: 1) proper placement of various manpower, 2) proper training of engine drivers, 3) proper legislation for a 2-man on board system, and 4) proper reformation of personnel management.
