  • The railway signaling system consists of micro-computerized vital devices on board and ground, which are connected to one another by track circuits, and interlocking equipment for route control. Therefore it is important to validate the required functions of developed system and interface between developed signaling systems. To verify the conditions and functions of signaling functions, the laboratory prototype test bench, which consists of personal computers LAN, will be developed. In this paper design of signaling system test-bench for high-speed signaling is described and developed software module are presented.

  • The Present headway on KNR lines varies from 6 to 10 minutes depending on the each line. Therefore KNR would like to reduce the headway of the all lines by 4 minutes with the implementation of ERTMS/ECTS on-board system. With the operation of HSR lines in 2004 the bottleneck would be expected within a few sections such as Seoul-Siheung which will be the common route between KTX and conventional lines. This study will analyze and compare the optimal headway can be accomplished by the ATS trackside and that of ETRMS/ETCS on-board system within the Seoul-Siheung section.

  • Normally, the government or a local autonomous entity selects urban railway(subway, light rail transits etc.) system after investigating logicality about a route and announcing officially for people's convenience if the system is decided, suppliers of equipment(train, transformer, trolly wire, signal, communication, PSD, AFC etc.) are selected and ordering go forward. Stabilization of a total system is need for smooth train operation before opening to traffic by design, installation, total trial operation So, a measure against interface disharmony between each equipment is need. This treatise deals with the systematic method of management and items for interface plan from system design to opening on the evidence of experience of Gwangju subway total interface.

  • Recently, the trade volume between Korea, China, and Europe is increasing gradually with various transport routes such as sea, railway. and linking of them. In this study, economic efficiency of existing transport routes are estimated and trainferry type shipping between Mokpo and Lianyungang is proposed as a efficient transport route considering the trade volume between Korea and China.

  • Both traffic congestion and air pollution in the metropolitan area can be greatly relieved by promoting the use of public transportation with zero emission system. Bus and subway are very convenient means for the people moving in the route areas. But they are not enough to satisfy handicapped or old people to have access to them and also do not solve environmental problems completely. New vehicle system, fuel cell track rapid transit, will be introduced as a countermeasure for such problems in the present paper.

  • Since the urban subway is normally constructed under the groundwater level, the drainage system will be one of the most important factors during maintenance period. Therefore, to investigate suitability of the design approach and the construction specification, the inflow and the contents of the groundwater in the Route 5 of Seoul subway system are analysed. From these, the possibility of the design improvement and the economy of the maintenance cost are proposed.

  • The network service have been achieved recently in the vehicle train, bus etc. Network portability have been processed so that it is active around NEMO WG (Network Mobility Working Group)of IETF. We organize NEMO in the railroad environment of the route among the masses traffic mean which has the forecasting. We try to present necessary for a portability network protocol to produce CoA rather efficiently.

  • The Tester of Autonomous station control system is a system which can test the main function of Autonomous station control system through the data field. The purpose of this paper is to meet the system requirements and design a main function, menu and user interface using Use-case. The main function is a time-deadline test, a schedule broadcast test, a route control test and a version-up test, etc. The design of Autonomous station control system tester plays a primary role of the important document for the upcoming future system development of the tester.

  • We actually installed antibacterial air filter on the air intake route to air conditioner in passenger car and evaluated filters performance on antibacterial effect. And also, antibacterial effect was observed at whole are of filter media by zone of inhibition test. In the evaluation of antibacterial test, it was shown that the air filter has notably sufficient antibacterial efficiency against ordinary filter.

  • Korea's new high-speed train opened for business on April 1, 2004. This paper examines the passenger demand variation between major train stops on Kyung-Bu corridor. The analysis scrutinized the demand transition and market responses by the opening of KTX. Demand analysis is subcategorized with routes and train classes. The study used the data from the survey between January 2003 and August 2004 and the route sections were between major trains stops including Seoul, Cheonan, Daejeon, Daegu and Busan on Kyung-Bu corridor.
