  • The primary objective of this paper is to investigate the corridor of Eurasia High-Speed Railway Network from the governmental view of the Republic of Korea, whose High-Speed Train has been recently operated. The country is also expected to figure out the changes of Eurasia infrastructure system under the assumption that Trans-Korean Railway is connected to the Continent. As a result of research, the corridor connecting the TKR to TSR seems to be more attractive to the Republic of Korea than that of the TKR-TCR under the current economic and operational environments. However, even in a case, the railway linkage through the TSR between Europe and Asia should remain a supplementary means of the sea transportation route. Lastly, TSR may need a program of structural reforms, in order to continuously provide preferable services like the Pan-European Transport Network (PETN) which is currently initiated by the European Union, such as to improve outdated infrastructure (railway, bridges, signal systems, etc.), to simplify and to standardize the process of custom clearance and internal tariffs, and ultimately to construct a uniform management system for the corridor linking the TKR to TSR.

  • Keep pace with economic development, the quality of transportation means such as railway, road, harbors has changed and those changes have affected to economic activities. It means that economic development and the changes of transportation quality have an inter-systemic relationship. So to speak, transportation means are major factor of national economic activities to implement economic and consumption activities by promoting supply of goods through the network between regions and industries. Currently, it is needed to connect railway and road between South and North Korea due to the economic cooperation of two sides and meeting of separated families based on the peacemaking mood. Moreover, to connect to T.C.R. and T.S.R. route will contribute to save time and cost of transporting freight to Europe comparing with shipping when South-North railway is connected. The possibility and method of connecting railway between South and North Korea will be introduced in this paper.

  • Transportation plays a vital role in sustainable development, and moreover, bulk transportation provides cost effective movement of goods and human beings with less environmental issues. Nepal is a developing country with increasing urbanization and transportation demands. The growing interest of China to connect with Southeast Asia through Nepal has led to ambitious project proposal of Rasuwa Gadhi to Birgunj Railways, which is the shortest route from China to India. Lack of updated geospatial data has lead the concerned authorities in Nepal to be dependent on analysis and proposals from donor nations. Taking such considerations, based on GIS and free data, this study explores optimal routes to connect cites using slope and land cover. Based on reclassified slope, two shortest optimal routes were found. One passing through Baireni in Dhading and another through Kathmandu towards Birgunj with length of around 172 Kilometers. The study shows that available open source data can be used of preliminary feasibility studies and yet shows limitations for detailed economy based planning. Development and use of high resolution updated geospatial data is of high necessity for Nepal to become self-sustained in planning of development works.

  • Recently it is a tendency that Diesel rolling stock is committing in the commuter's train route of the suburb for solving commuting traffic congestion. It has advantage which expense of diesel rolling stock is relatively cheaper than electric rail car or high-speed train. In addition, it can be using the exist route without large-scale facility investment. Because of this advantage, the demand of diesel rolling stock occupy regular portion from overseas railway car market. GM/RT 2100 specifies the loads vehicle bodies shall be capable of withstanding, identifies how material data shall be used and presents the principles to be used for design verification by analysis. Therefore, in order to fulfill the structural requirements, Rotem Company has carried out Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to verify whether the carbody structure has enough strength to withstand the loads specified by GM/RT 2100.   • An interlocking equipment of railway signalling systems is manufactured with electrical devices and electrical interlocking equipment has been substituted for existing interlock equipment(relay sequential logic type). But interlock conditions are still generated from rail diagram and used to make Interlock Table manually. In order to make EIS(Electrical Interlock System) operate, we should write interlock data which is made from interlock table. But, as the station is larger and more complicated, handwork may becomes a very tediou work and makes more mistakes. Therefore the development of CAD system for Interlocking System is very significant, if CAD can reduce the mistakes from handwork and help the configuring the interlocking system. In this paper, we first arrange some rules which can be used to extract route information automatically from rail diagram and interlocking rules. And then we propose "Search-And-Rollback" algorithm to extract route information and individual interlocking rules. The proposed algorithm is implemented and tested through the signal design process of the Hyundai-Steel private railway to carry melted pig iron from the blast furnace to the steel-making workshop. some cases. It shows that CAD for Interlocking system is very helpful in time saving aspect and system reliability.

  • Rail Route Alignment in hilly terrain is a difficult task to implement as several natural constraints poses threat to the safety and stability of the alignment. The conventional methods followed to find out the final location survey or the feasibility analysis for alignment is time taking consuming. Some times, due to inaccessibility of the terrain it becomes impossible to carry out such works. The construction works in hilly terrain, which are associated with the proposed alignment, are not same as carried out in plane areas due to a vast contrast between the two areas. Different geological structures such as faults, thrusts, synclines and anticlines are a big problem to carry out normal construction practices. Thus for a safe and stable railway route in the unstable hilly areas, it is required to carry out the feasibility analysis of the proposed alignment to assist the policy makers for a successful implementation of the alignment. In the present work Remote Sensing and GIS has been successfully used to carry out geological feasibility and slope stability analysis for rail route alignment work.

  • To operate a border station between South and North Korea is one of the most important tasks for the future inter-Korean railway transportation. Currently, North Korea and China are operating three border stations each. Among them, a Dandong-Sinuiju route handles the most amount of transport volume and can be a model for the operation of South-North Korean border station. This Study is to suggest an efficient way of operating the planned South-North Korean border station and international railway transportation via the station. To that end, operation system at the border station between Chinese Dandong and North Korean Sinuiju was analyzed and the Train Operation Agreement made by the two Koreas was studied.

  • In the case of railway freight, there's a lot of process at railway freight terminal. In these days, for operation efficiency improvement, Load/Unload planning is being carried out research. Load/unload problem can be classified as track assignment, container assignment, yard truck route problem, unload equipment scheduling, container yard plan. In this paper, we focus on track assignment and container assignment among the load/unload problem. we analysis information architecture to solve this problem. And we compares two precesses for existing method and optimization method of track/container assignment processes. An contents different analysis of two methods can shows reformation of an information architecture for load/unload process in the railway freight terminal.

  • The objectives of this study are to analyze the railway traffic conditions of Korea, China and Japan, and to appropriate the railway network planning for international logistics in Northeast Asia. Korea is located geographically on the main trunk route in Northeast Asia. Considering the geographical advantage and the overall potential of the economic and trade in Northeast Asia region, this area is required to connect the railway network. Recently, the scale of economic in Northeast Asia, including Korea, China and Japan, is increasing, also Northeast Asia's gross domestic product(GDP) is 22 percent of global and containers trade come up to 36 percent. Each country intend about integration of economic region for activity of mutual economic cooperation, for steady development and prosperity of each country economic all over the world, and Northeast Asia countries are in debate. There is a quite possibility of integration by a single economic region in Korea, China and Japan. Accordingly these countries should have expansion of traffic infrastructure, when the economic region is going to integration.
