Uiwang ICD, which is the only inland container depot in the capital area, is equipped with modern facilities, and loading and unloading equipment, and can handle 1,000,000 TEU annually.It has many advantages such as advantageous conditions of location, the role of foothold for distribution transportation in the capital area, so it plays an important role of vitalizing the railroad transport. However, Uiwang ICD has reached the limit in the vitalization of railroad transport of containerized cargo due to the current problems in facilities and operations. This research analyzed the Uiwang ICD's problems by dividing them into facilities problems and operational problems, and presented short-term and medium and long-term improvement measures with the year 2023 when the private use permission expires as the basic year. However, the vitalization of railroad transport of Uiwang ICD can be attained only when it has support and cooperation from the government, Uiwang-si, Korea Rail Network Authority, and other related organizations together with efforts of Korea Railroad Corporation, and occupant companies. Such improvement measures for Uiwang ICD are expected to contribute to establishing combined transport system and forming efficient railroad distribution infrastructures and vitalizing railroad distribution, and also contribute to the government's low-carbon green growth policy by building environment-friendly transport system.

The railroad is one of the most popular means of transport. However, railroad agencies are managing the railroad information and provide its service respectively. That is, because of managing the different information and its type, the user will not receive the correct and integrated information. Thus, it is needed to employ methods for converting the various types of railroad information into the unified railroad information. In this study, we investigated how to (semi-)automatically convert railroad information in each agencies to standard railroad information. Railroad passengers can use the railroad information service at a time, at a glance and in one place. In addition, we believe that there can be provided the opportunity to create an new service, which will dramatically develop a railroad information service through these systematic and integrated railroad information management.

As IT is also recognized as assets, IT assets management system is trying to introduce for the management and operation in domestic enterprises and public institutions. The general assets management system was introduced in domestic companies, but because it managed mainly the only simple information about the assets, there were a lot of operational difficulties of the assets. In order to operate effectively the IT assets used in special business such as bank, prosecutors, railway, etc the classification system of IT assets based on the EA was needed first of all. Accordingly, in this paper, we classified IT assets systematically according to the EA meta model Application Guide V1.4 in consideration of the characteristics about the IT asset business for A public institution, and performed to improve the operating costs and efficiency by implementing a web-based IT assets management system for this public institution.

The ridership and transit systems are influenced by the expansion of metro-rail in Seoul metropolitan area. However, it has been difficult to measure its precise quantitative influences. Also effective policy implementations have been limited due to the lack of practical evidences. Thus an empirical analysis for an operating metro-rail is essentially required. In this regard, this study examines the impact of the Jungang line on transportation system, whose metro-rail block has been recently started new service. The main interest of this study is to find out the changes of ridership and to forecast the ridership changes by the metro-rail service. The results indicate that the effect on auto users is less than that of bus users. The auto demand is decreased by 33.3% and the bus demand by 66.6%. Additionally, its influence on Gyeonggi-do bus was greater compared with that on the Seoul bus. From questionnaire survey, this results could be confirmed. To sum up, the metro-rail gives less influences on auto users, while it gives greater influences on bus users.

Last 1970's Korea opened the Kyoung-bu highways from Seoul to Pusan, and Korea government had change the transportation policy to focusing on the road and motors. but 1990's Korea had been the heavily traffic jam in long distant transportation system and logistics. That's why Korea government studied on feasibility survey of High-speed train. As the KTX opens, traffic networks covering large areas In Kyeongbu-line (Seoul- Daejeon- Busan) are expected to raise synergy effects in economics as well as in korean culture respects. Having been playing an important transportation role in Korea for the last 106 years. With opening of the high speed railway, KORAIL in inevitable to make a drastic reform. To achieve this purpose, it is necessary that KORAIL has to be small and effective streamlined organization. In should increase traffic capacity by improving infra facilities. It need to also expand its internal functions by connecting the KTX with the conventional railroad system.

This study investigates the one-year performance of the Seoul Metropolitan Rail Transit(SMRT) operation. It intends to provide a basic understanding for railway operation in Seoul Metropolitan Area and thereby for making rational transport policy. The paper is conceptually comprised of four sections; analysis of passenger travel characteristics; SMRT costing and traffic cost function: its operating characteristics in terms of finance and utilization; primary social benefits of SMRT and suggestions. In the first year of operation (1974), the average daily traffic was about 335,000, After the drastic increases of fare in both Subway and KNR rail-lines, the travel volume has been cut by almost 10 percent, though most pronounced on intra-Subway line. The spatial distribution of passengers indicates that travelers use the SMRT line mainly for uninterrupted direct travel toward the CBD. In the prospective costing, the opereting expenses are divided into three groups; those which vary directly with volume; those partially variable with volume; and those entirely unrelated to volume change, With this information, cost function was derived for varying schedules of operation. Primary social benefits of the SMRT are assessed, though preliminary. Account should be taken of the nature of common costs of the SMRT in fare-rate making, especially when much of the operating expenses are accounted for by the fixed costs such that the revenue may not readily turn into break-even. The accounting results of the one-year operation coincide reasonably well with the prospective costing estimates. According to the findings of this annd another travelers' behavior studies, managerial effort would bring more revenue gain to the SMRT than fare increase does, not to speak of greater social benefits by so doing.

According to EMEP/EEA Emission Inventory Guidebook, the emissions produced by vehicle in cold start phase should be calculated differently compared to hot start phase. In this study, considering this driving cycle, more appropriate procedures for estimating Environmental Benefits was suggested. Using Tier 3 standard, all links within the impact area were included in estimating emissions. Traffic volume and travel distance were analyzed using EMME/3 software. For application of the procedures in this study, the case study was carried out with real transportation project. As a result, the Environment-Benefits increased by 30%. If the methodology suggested in this study is applied to feasibility study it will help to activate the investment of the environment-friendly modes like railway in the future.

Access to public facilities such as substations, dams and railway facilities is strictly controlled, and unmanned surveillance equipment has been introduced and operated recently due to the development of IT technology and the government's cost reduction policy. However, if an unmanned surveillance system is broken, surveillance space, information leakage caused by intruders, and damage to facilities may occur. Also, it is necessary to check periodical visit by the manager in order to check the surveillance facilities, which causes additional management costs. In order to solve this problem, we designed a system to check the operation status of the unmanned monitoring facility in real time, attempt to recover automatically when a problem occurs, and notify the administrator of the problem. The designed system consists of an NVR that receives and judges information such as image, sound, and lighting condition, and a control device that detects and restores the state of the unmanned monitoring facility. The system proposed in this paper is expected to contribute to the improvement of the economic efficiency due to the minimization of surveillance space due to the failure of the unmanned monitoring facility and the reduction of the inspection cost.

In this paper, I illustrate the some examples of socio-economic influence of railroad in Korea. The Korean railroad has been running for 109 years now since it started operation in 1899. The opening of railroad in Korea has been affecting influence in our society not only transportation but also infrastructure building and the formation of new cities which they were built along the rail network like Daejeon. I have come up with some examples, which railroad has affected the in our society. For example, the changes of transport route from road to railroad, emerging the new cities, industries and culture. This paper contributes to look over the various function of railroad in Korea. Moreover it will be compared with Japan's railroad influence in his country. It gives us a peculiarity and universality in railroad's function including colonial policy
