In this paper, we outlines the basic pricing rules that developed over the years, and illustrates how these rules apply in practice using railway fare, price discrimination in railway travel. we review the problems of rail fare system reflecting the market fare decision and consider fare decision structure and relative fare comparison with other modes of transportation. Specifically, we focus on tile effect of tile “fare varying system with distance”, using the characteristics of long distance transportation modes. And set up the framework for reasonable fare decision under the current circumstances.

Management innovation as a strategic alternative to create competitive advantages in the global market, is being actively progressed by conglomerates such as Samsung, LG and Toyoda as they cut a brilliant figure in the 21 century by using various innovation methods. However, the domestic railway sectors, in particular urban railway depots have neglected management innovation as they undertake Operation and Management in non-competitive settings of a corporate enterprise. This paper analyzes the critical success factors that have switched the most obsolete depots to a benchmark model for domestic railway depots based on the remodeling businesses undertaken in Gunja rolling stock maintenance office, Korea's first urban railway depot, along with 5S 6sigma program.

CEN/TS 45545 is Europe consolidation standard for fire safety on railway behicles. This is based on the International Union of Railways(UIC) and different European countries. It is intended to protect passengers and staff in railway in the event of a fire on board. It will be prepared in 2012. Based on this consolidate standard, they are going to make single market, for raising technical competitiveness, technical innovation and globalization of that standard. For this reason, European academies, manufacturers, and sub-manufacturers confer and stady animated about CEN/TS 45545. In Korea, get out the safety assessment for ues incombustible interior material, the needs of quantitative analysis on fire protection, demand on recognition of fire protection scenario, and define about fire load analysis are becomin more and more important. Therefore, this paper will estimate and compare Flammability, Smoke Density, Toxicity Index( this is the key point for appraised fire safety performance of material) between CEN/TS45545 and fire standards on railway vehicle. Then suggest criteria for fire safety on railway vehicles.

Due to global climate change issues, there is a growing demand for systems throughout the industry. In the case of power conversion, studies have been actively conducted to change the structure of the power conversion circuit and to apply new power devices. In particular, the WBG (Wide Band Gap), which is newly emerged device in the market for developing semiconductor technology, has demonstrated advantages in applying for various aspects in comparison to the existing Si (Silicon) Semiconductor. Recent research centers in the railway industry are focusing on developing technologies suitable for railway vehicles by utilizing these new developments in railway countries such as Japan and Europe. This paper researches the WBG device that is applicable to the auxiliary power supplies (APS) in railway system, and analyzes the downsizing effects to APS in high-speed railway by conducting a theoretical analysis and simulation.

The main purpose of this study is to depict the causal relationship among Market Orientation(MO), Marketing Capabilities(MC), and Organizational Performance(OP) with the moderating effect of Environmental Turbulence(ET), especially comparatively highlighting the differences between Korail and Subway firms. Findings show that there partly existed significant interactions effects between ET and MO in case of subway firms, whereas Korail did not reveal any significant results. When considering the strong relationship between MO and MC shown in the subway firms' case, it can be inferred that subway firms continuously have attempted to adapt to the external environment facing them more flexibly and actively over their counterpart, by which the degree of their MC became positively enhanced over Korail. These results give us some implication that MO should be internalized and also MC should get a higher consideration than ever throughout the railway public enterprises in order to strengthen their performance.

Although the TBM method is mainly adopted in overseas market including the Europe, etc, the method scarcely adopted in domestic market. For highly enhancing applications of the TBM method for railway, It is needed to select the optimal cross-section considering design elements of civil engineering and aerodynamic effects. Also, it is needed to establish plan of proper section as well as reviewing aerodynamic effects and consideration about civil engineering elements such as length of tunnel, speed of railway, height of whole lines and size of utility tunnel, etc. Even though it should be recently considered high-speed railway tunnels and required to be standard establishments in aerodynamic reviews, it is being applied to be criteria of inconsistent pneumatic analysis owing to be not related with domestic standards. In this study, therefore, we are willing to establishment of domestic and foreign aerodynamic standards and investigate correlation between optimal cross-section and aerodynamic effects of TBM railway tunnels.

Modern railway construction by Japanese had a great influence on the urbanization, transformation of urban structure and landscape during the Japanese imperialism and compressive increasing period in Iri(Iksan). This paper aims to find out the effect of railway on the modern urban structure and urban landscape in Iri(Iksan). Railways in Iri, Honam railway, Kunsan railway, Jeonla railway have been constructed progressively during 1911 and 1915 with Iri and old Iri(east-Iri) station. From the analysis of land registration maps and street plans, old photographies and historical records, some significant features underling railway construction can be followed in view of modern urbanization process in Iri. Firstly railways cut off the possibility of developing urban structure based on traditional spatial structure of Iksan. Secondly railways made dual spatial structure in Iri. Japanese and Korean life zone were divided into separate district around urbanization area and market place. Thirdly traditional space cognition system based on four cardinal directions were changed to front and rear space of railway station. Fourthly railways and stations caused neo-baroque spatial order and imperialistic urban landscape of Iri with axis, vista and gridiron plan. Fifthly break points and fringe belts garbling modern urbanization process are created. Sixthly modern cultural and consumptive urban spaces were taken their seats in relation with daily urban life.

In recent years, energy prices have soared, which of course have increased costs for railway operators. Simultaneously, the energy market has considerably changed that in most developed countries, it is deregulated, giving railway operators an opportunity to define new ways of using energy. Efficient operation of the railway system is considered as an essential way to energy saving while an efficient management of power level helps to lower the reference subscribed power, giving access to better energy rates. It is studied on the relation between time and force for the energy efficient driving of train in railway when the train is braking according to several slips.

Place Marketing is a new strategy for the regional development, using the regional image, facility and history. The purpose of this paper is to search the possibility of place marketing in the area of railway. Already there were some cases to vitalize the close line and out-of-business station. In this context, some ideas to connect the railway with trip, leisure and regional festival are recommended. For the market place, the cooperation with local government is essential.

Recently, as the feasibility study shows that trans-Korea railway and trans-continental railway are advantageous, interest in high-speed railway system is increasing. Because railway vehicle is environment-friendly and safe compared with airplane and ship, its market-sharing increases gradually. We developed a measurement system for on-line test and evaluation of performances of KHST. The measurement system is composed of software part and hardware part. Perfect interface between multi-users is possible. Nowadays, position data inputs to pulse signal from wheel. Perfect position measurement was limited to slip and slide of vehicle. This measurement makes up for the weak points, Position Detection System using GPS develops. By using the system, Korean High Speed Train is capable of accurate fault position detection.
