  • Nowadays, the corporate culture is recognized as an important invisible assets determining the competitive advantages in all the business firms. The purpose of this article is to depict the corporate culture of railroad-related organizations based on the cognitive response of employees. To attain this purpose, several aspects of current corporate cultures are surveyed through questionnaire and analyzed by SPSS. In this paper the theoretical framework adopted was an corporate culture model developed by Rousseau.

  • The computerization works and environment have been changed from simple transaction and data process request to system connection request, from data computerization to application work automation and process computerization through IT development and Internet spread. Recently, BPM(Business Process Management) concept has been widely propagated. It is expanding interest of business subject. Korea Railroad is operating train operation management system through 5 regional headquarters and organizations under the influence of each regional headquarter. But integrated operation and management of communication each department, work flow management and resources of depot equipment and materials have to need a lot of effort and time in huge organization as Korea Railroad. Therefore, this article realized Web Based BPM Group Ware. This article will define Korea Railroad organization and business process in using this Group Ware. And it will introduce Korea Railroad computer manage system of this Group Ware and efficient Korea Railroad Business Process through modeling and operating department work and resources management in Korea Railroad.

  • The Advanced countries including Japan, USA and European countries are adopting automatic system(e.g., auto-measurement using CCD camera) for measuring pantograph sliding plate and wheel abrasion to minimize manpower for E.M.U(Electric Multiple Unit) inspection and maintenance as part of management rationalization of railroad Corporation since late 1980's. In Korea, as part of scheme of business rationalization, automatic system for measuring pantograph sliding plate and wheel abrasion started to draw industry attention since late 1990s, and the system started to be installed in newly built depots of Korea Railroad Corporation since 2002. This study hopefully provides the base for realizing business rationalization and applying the advanced technology developed by Korea, the country of powerful IT basis, to overseas railroad organizations by examining automatic system for measuring pantograph sliding plate abrasion using existing CCD cameras produced domestically and in foreign countries to study cases(organizations in Korea) for improvement of measurement, management and inspection of pantograph sliding plate abrasion using CCD cameras with new cutting-edge technology; and by applying the study result to railroad organizations in metropolitan areas in Korea.

  • It can be considered that the safety of software is combined with that of hardware, and also directly connected to system safety. Because the software in the railway system takes the form of Embedded that let it behave at the system level, instead of independent operation, the safety of the railway S/W is also important. The approach, for ensuring the quality and safety of those software, can be considered with two points of view. Those are views seeing from products, and from processes. The two points of approach are all necessary in the railway system. For the first of all, the process approach is to validate maturity of the organizations in accordance to the judging processes of organizations, which are specified by CMMI(Capability Maturity Model Integration) or SPICE(Software Process Improvement and Capability dEtermination: ISO/IECl5504). In this paper, as the first step of them, we are trying to find approaches to estimate the maturity of manufacturer and assessment organization in the railway system.

  • The Five Days Work System started to be lately introduced among Korean companies is causing much interests in diverse aspects. This theme of '5 days work' seems like a hot issue both for academian and for practitioner in the respect that it incurred a great change and impact in worker's life. The purpose of this article is to depict the pattern and the effect incurred by '5 days work system', focusing on the female workers in railroad-related organizations. To attain this purpose, several aspects of current '5 days work system' and its effects both on work life and on family life are surveyed through questionaire and analyzed by SPSS. And some implications will be supposed. in based on the cognitive response of employees.

  • Nowadays, BSC system has been adopted all over the world as an important tool for organizational performance management. However, despite its merits and contribution for/to the organizational performance management, it is often reported that this system has some problems and limitations in several aspects. The purpose of this article is to depict the usefulness of BSC as well as its limitations, and suggest some direction for enhancing its effectiveness.
