  • This study reveals that rail reform which separates infrastructure from train operation requires more safety activities to train operator than before. To meet these requirements the train operator, KNR, should build up more expertness, accept accidents investigation by the third party, establish and operate safety knowledge management system, and manage a forum which facilitates the communication between the parties concerned.

Radiation Effects of Proton Particles in Memory Devices

  • In this letter, we study the impact of single event upsets (SEUs) in space or defense electronic systems which use memory devices such as EEPROM, and SRAM. We built a microcontroller test board to measure the effects of protons on electronic devices at various radiation levels. We tested radiation hardening at beam current, and energy levels, measured the phenomenon of SEUs, and addressed possible reasons for SEUs.

  • The study for ubiquitous computing infra is proceeding actively, it make possible to use service and access network anywhere, anytime because of wire/wireless communication technology and progress of hardware. Domestically, study for the network mobility support technology which is the key technology for future ubiquitous computing realization have progressed, but that is insufficient. Especially, there is no study for independent mobility support study about railway wireless network. So, this study propose network mobility management technology for mobile network infra in railway and proper network model in train.

  • Wireless access in vehicle environment (WAVE) communication is currently being researched as core wireless communication technologies for cooperative intelligent transport systems (C-ITS). WAVE consists of both vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication, which refers to communication between vehicles, and vehicle to infrastructure (V2I) communication, which refers to the communication between vehicles and road-side stations. V2I has a longer communication range than V2V, and its communication range and reception rate are heavily influenced by various factors such as structures on the road, the density of vehicles, and topography. Therefore, domestic environments in which there are many non-lines of sight (NLOS), such as mountains and urban areas, require optimized communication channel modeling based on research of V2I propagation characteristics. In the present study, the received signal strength indicator (RSSI) was measured on both an experience road and a test road, and the large-scale characteristics of the WAVE communication were analyzed using the data collected to assess the propagation environment of the WAVE-based V2I that is actually implemented on highways. Based on the results of this analysis, this paper proposes a WAVE communication channel model for domestic public roads by deriving the parameters of a dual-slope logarithmic distance implementing a two-ray ground-reflection model.

철도신호시스템 교체에 따른 운행 시나리오 도출에 관한 연구 (Study on the Design of Operation Scenario for Replacement of a Railway Signaling System)

  • The railway signalling system plays an essential role in the headway and routing control for a safe and efficient train operation. The reliable and safe operation of the system is very important because the failure of the railway signalling system can lead to the collision, derailment, or unexpected stop of a train. So far, the conventional wayside signal mode (ATS: Automatic Train Stop) has been generally used as the railway signalling system. However, this system is highly linked to a risk of major accidents resulted from human mistakes such as missing a signal or careless control of train speed. Accordingly, the onboard signal mode (ATC: Automatic Train Control) as an alternative of ATS has been recently introduced and applied to transmit effectively the information on speed control of a train by using computers and communication equipment. In the process of replacing the obsolete signal system, it is necessary to switch over the system while providing passengers with normal services. Therefore, the integration of a railway signaling system compatible for both ATS and ATC and its interface is discussed in this study. In particular, the implementation scenario required for operation planning of the integrated system was designed, and the results as well as effects of its applicability test were also presented.

실시간 모니터링을 통한 레일절손 검지에 관한 연구 (A Study of Detecting Broken Rail using the Real-time Monitoring System)

  • Train accidents can be directly connected to fatal accidents-collision, derailment, Fire, railway crossing accidents-resulting in tremendous human casualties. First of all, the railway derailment is not only related to most of railway accidents but also it can lead to much more catastrophic accompanying train overtured than other factors. Therefore, it is most important factor to ensure railway safety. some foreign countries have applied to the detector machines(e.g., ultrasonic detector car, sleep mode, current detector, optical sensing, optical fiber). Since it was developed in order to prevent train from being derailed. In korea, the existing track method has been used to monitor rail condition using track circuit. However, we found out it impossible for Communication Based Train Control system(CBTC), recent technology to detect rail condition using balise(data transmission devices) without no track circuit. For this reason, it is needed instantly to develop real-time monitoring system used to detect broken rails. Firstly, this paper presents domestic and international statues analysis of rail breaks technology. Secondly, the composition and the characteristics of the real-time monitoring system. Finally, the evidence that this system could assumed the location and type of broken rails was proved by the experiment of prototype and operation line tests. We concluded that this system can detect rail break section in which error span exist within${\pm}1m$.

Safety analysis to derive safety requirement in the railway system

  • The safety of the railway system is important because the system is a mass transit system and the results of the accident are inconceivable. The railway system is operated by train operation system such as train control system. So the train control system requires safety critical characteristics. In the European railway, ETCS (European Train Control System) project has been finished to accomplish the interoperability of each national railway signaling system. According to the interoperability degree, ETCS levels are suggested. As the highest level, ETCS level 3 suggests a radio communication. Also recently urban railway system is operated by driverless and automatic train control system. In this circumstance, more safety is required than before in the railway system. In order to accomplish the safety of a system, the requirements considering safety have to be suggested. The requirement is a set of several functions such as general function, environment, safety etc. For the safety critical system, safety function is more important than any other functions. The safety functions are deduced by safety analysis. In order to perform the safety analysis, the system hazards have to be identified and then risk analysis for each hazard should be performed. The risk is related to the frequency and the severity of each hazard. And then countermeasures for each risk have to be prepared. The summary of the countermeasures is about a kind of safety functions in a system. In this paper, the safety functions for a train control system are presented according to the above procedure.

철도차량 배선절감 방안 및 효과분석에 관한 연구 (A study on the wire reduction design and effect analysis for the train vehicle line)

  • 철도는 대규모 승객 수송과 운행서비스를 제공하는 공공교통수단으로 시스템의 신뢰성과 안전성의 확보가 최우선적으로 요구된다. 철도차량의 배선은 제어신호선과 통신선으로 분류되며, 제어신호선은 차량주행 및 안전기능과 관련된 입출력 신호를, 통신은 방송 등 승객서비스에 대한 입출력신호에 사용되고 있다. 철도차량 신뢰성확보 방안 중 한 가지 방법으로 차량내 전장장치간 제어신호의 입출력 인터페이스로 train line을 적용됨에 따라, 제어회로 구성을 위하여 릴레이, 컨택터 등의 전기기계식 소자가 다수 적용되어 있다. 실제로 편성 내 차량제어논리가 수 천 접점으로 구성됨에 따라 접점 불량 등 고장시 오류확인이 어렵고, 실시간 상태확인이 불가능함에 따라 정기적인 유지보수에 많은 인력과 시간이 투입되어야만 한다. 본 논문에서는 국내 철도차량내 주행 및 안전기능과 관련된 전장품의 제어기간 제어신호선 설계현황(종류, 복잡도)을 분석하고, 설계를 단순화하여 제작양산성과 유지보수 효율성을 향상시키기 위한 3가지 제어배선절감 방안을 제안하였다. 적용결과 국내 4량 1편성의 전동차에 적용시, 약 35% 이상의 배선절감 효과를 확인하였다.

입자군집 최적화 알고리즘을 이용한 배열안테나의 상호결합에 의한 방사패턴 왜곡보상 (Compensation of Radiation Pattern Distortion by Mutual Coupling in the Array Antenna Using the Particle Swarm Optimization Algorithm)

  • 본 논문은 배열안테나의 상호결합(mutual coupling)에 의한 방사패턴 왜곡을 보상하는 최적화 방법을 제시하도록 한다. 배열안테나에서 안테나 사이의 간격이 좁아지게 되면 안테나 상호간의 커플링에 의해 방사패턴에 왜곡이 발생하게 된다. 상호결합은 각 안테나에 여기되는 신호의 크기와 위상을 변화시키며 이는 방사패턴의 왜곡으로 이어진다. 이런 방사패턴의 왜곡 문제를 해결하기 위하여 상호결합을 고려한 여기신호를 각 배열 요소에 공급하는 방법을 제안하였다. 공급신호의 크기와 위상을 결정하기 위하여 입자 군집 최적화 알고리즘(Particle Swarm Optimization)을 사용하였다. 왜곡 보상을 검증하기 위하여 전방향으로 동일한 방사패턴을 갖는 다이폴안테나를 사용하였으며, 배열안테나의 간격을 0.2파장으로 두어 상호결합이 많이 발생하도록 하였다. 최적화를 통한 안테나의 신호를 선정한 결과 이상적인 방사패턴과 동일한 결과가 나오는 것을 확인하였다.

군집주행 차량의 안전 메시지 전달을 위한 V2V 전송 기법 (A V2V Transmission Scheme for Safety Message Dissemination in Platooning)

  • 군집주행은 통신기술의 발달과 더불어 도로 용량을 증가시킬 수 있을 것으로 기대되는 미래 차량 자율 주행 기술이다. 본 논문에서는 군집 주행 상황의 효율적인 안전 메시지 전달을 위한 전송 기법을 제안하였다. 제안하는 기법은 6세대 무선랜 기술인 IEEE 802.11ax의 TUA (triggered uplink access) 기법과 NFR (null data packet feedback report) 기법을 활용하여 채널 접속 효율을 향상시키고, 차량들이 주변 차량들의 데이터 트래픽 상황을 인지하지 못하는 상황에서도 적은 오버헤드로 높은 효율의 다중 차량 단말 상향 OFDMA (orthogonal frequency division multiple access) 전송을 유도한다. 시뮬레이션 결과에 따르면 제안하는 기법은 측정된 모든 차량 단말 밀도 변화 범위 내에서 기존의 전송 방식 대비 월등한 성능을 보이는 것으로 나타났다.
