To investigate influence of the incident beams which have the truncated Gaussian amplitude and of the shapes of bump on read-out signal is an optical disc, and the point spread function on bump, the scalar diffraction theory is used in this paper. We consider the truncated Gaussian amplitudes which are $\sigma$=0, 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5, the height of bump which is given by $n{\Delta}_0={\lambda}/4$, and the phase height of bump which is then given by ${\Phi}_0={\pi}$. We also consider the shapes of the bump which are a rectangular shape, a frustoconical shape, and a conical shape. It is shown that as the truncation of incident beam reduces the radius of central spot on bump decreases, the maximum value of read-out signal increases, and that the size of bump decreases. From these results, we get better read-out signal and the reduced cross-talk in optical disc when the truncation of incident beam reduces. Therefore a laser beam having less truncated Gaussian amplitude may useful for an actual optical disc.

The sea flower begins at the water-sediment Interface. In the ocean basins, the sound velocity of the sediments at the interface vary from a few percent less than the sound speed in water just above the interface to somewhat greater. Marine sediments are unconsolidated; that is, the particles are not cemented of fused together. Samples feel like mud, muddy sand, sand, and so on. With the theoretical knowledge, the systematic research on the searching capability of Ultra Sonic Signal will be continued to identify the influence against the sea water subject. In this research, signal will be analyzed according to the influence range, power and sensitiveness of Ultra Sonic Generator. In addition, the radius of Ultra Sonic Signal will be included. The experimental field work will be executed at Nockdong, Pulkyo and other places well known as a habitat of Pan Shell.

This paper aims at investigating the effect of steel ratio and the magnitude of edge-ratio on the mechanical characteristics of reinforced concrete ring sector plate. The influence of steel bars was taken into account by coupling stiffness matrix of the steel bar element with that of the concrete plate element without dealing with separate element of steel bar and by establishing the composite stiffness matrix, which leads to the desirable result which does not increase th number of element could be obtained. Through case studies with 6 cases various steel ratios in ring sector plate supported at four edges and 4 cases with different open angles, the influence of the steel ratio was examined. A numerical analysis to find out the effect of the steel ratio d ue to above mentioned cases was carried out by 4 boundary conditions ; all edges clamped (B.C-1), all edges simply supported (B.C-2), curvilinear two edges clamped and other edges free (B.C-3) and curvilinear two edges simply supported and other edges free(B.C-4). The main results obtained are summarized as follows : 1. The effect of steel ratio on the magnitude of lateral deflection and x-directional bending moment at the center of sector plate and the midpoint of outer and inner curvilinear edges is almost the same up to $30^{\circ}$ of open angle. Beyond $30^{\circ}$ of the angle, the larger the angle, the greater the effect of ratio. 2. In design works using balanced steel ratio, the effect of steel bar can be ignored. But for larger open angles, especially greater than $90^{\circ}$, it proves desirable to consider the effect of steel bar. 3. The effect of the arc length of center circle/straight edge on lateral deflection and bending moment is remarkable in B.C-2. For larger open angle, the effect is also noted except for B.C-3 which turn out hardly affected. 4. The effect of the radius of curvature/straight side length on lateral deflection and x-directional bending moment is noted in B.C-2. As open angle increases, B.C-1 and B.C-3 almost agree and B.C-2 approaches B.C-4.
A barotropic non-linear numerical model is used to study the response of the Yellow Sea to winter cyclone passage. Cyclones normally come from the outside of the western boundary, China, and pass the region eastward. The cyclone parameters used for the present study are the following: the intensity, i.e., the maximum wind speed of the cyclone; the effective radius corresponding to this maximum; and the translation speed. The equations of motion are integrated over the depth which is supposed to be a constant. The Gaussian function is used to define the stream function of the wind. The following results have been found. A northward current is generated by the frontal part of the cyclone near the western boundary. After the cyclone leaves the sea area, a southward current is generated by the rear part of the cyclone. After that, a northward current is generated once again due to the westward propagating Rossby waves. The response of the sea to the cyclone passage is strongly influenced by a steady current when the steady current and the current due to the cyclone wind are of the same order. The steady current diminishes the sea response and reduces the speed of the southward current, and enhances the northward current speed. The intensity and the translation speed of a cyclone also influence the flow pattern significantly.

Recently, boss and rib test based on backward extrusion process was proposed to quantitative evaluate the interfacial friction condition in bulk forming process. In this test, the tube-shaped punch with hole pressurizes the workpiece so that the boss and rib are formed along the hole and outer surface of the punch. It was experimentally and numerically revealed that the height of boss is higher than that of the rib under the severe friction condition. This work is focused on the effect of the punch design and friction condition on deformation pattern in boss and rib test. From the boss and rib test simulations, it was found that there is slight variation in both the heights of boss and rib according to the length of punch land, nose radius, and face angle. However the hole diameter of the punch and the clearance between the punch and die have a significant influence on the heights of the boss and rib. In addition, the effect of flow stress was also investigated on the deformation patterns through FE simulations.
This paper presents a theory concerning the beam element subjected to an eccentric rolling disk (or simply called the eccentric-disk-loaded beam element) such that the dynamic responses of a beam subjected to an eccentric rolling disk with its inertia force, Coriolis force and centrifugal force considered can be easily determined. To this end, the property matrices of an eccentric-disk-loaded beam element are firstly derived by means of the Lagrange's equations. Then, the overall property matrices of the entire vibrating system are determined by directly adding the property matrices of the eccentric-disk-loaded beam element to the overall ones of the entire beam itself. Finally, the Newmark direct integration method is used to solve the equations of motion for the dynamic responses of a beam subjected to an eccentric rolling disk. Some factors relating to the title problem, such as the eccentricity, radius and rotating speed of the rolling disk, and the Coriolis force and centrifugal force induced by the rolling disk are investigated. Numerical results reveal that the influence of last factors on the dynamic responses of the pinned-pinned beam is significant except the centrifugal force.
The paper deals with the study of the dynamics of the oscillating moving ring load acting in the interior of the hollow circular cylinder surrounded by an elastic medium. The axisymmetric loading case is considered and the study is made by employing the exact equations and relations of linear elastodynamics. The focus is on the influence of the oscillation of the moving load and the problem parameters such as the cylinder's thickness/radius ratio on the critical velocities. At the same time, the dependence between the interface stresses and load moving velocity under various frequencies of this load, as well as the frequency response of the mentioned stresses under various load velocity are investigated. In particular, it is established that oscillation of the moving load can cause the values of the critical velocity to decrease significantly and at the same time the oscillation of the moving load can lead to parametric resonance. It is also established that the critical velocity decreases with decreasing of the cylinder's thickness/radiusratio.

This paper considers the influence of circumferential wall heat conduction for the case of forced convection around a circular cylinder in cross flow of air. Keeping uniform heat generation from the inner surface of the cylinder in radial direction, heat is transferred by wall conduction in the circumferential direction due to the asymmetric nature of the temperature distribution of the cylinder and by convection around the perimeter of the cylinder. The wall conduction depends on conductivity of the cylinder and size of the cylinder radius and thickness and affects the local convective heat transfer rate significantly for geometrically similar surfaces and flow conditions. A nondimensional conjugation parameter K. (=k$_t$R/k$_w$b) has been used to characterize the effect of the circumferntial wall heat conduction. The small values of conjugation parameter K are found to be associated with large effect of wall conduction on the local convective heat transfer rate.
Bone mineral density (BMD) is one of the quantitative traits that are genetically inherited and affected by various factors. Over the past years, genome-wide association studies (GWASs) have searched for many genetic loci that influence BMD. A recent meta-analysis of 17 GWASs for BMD of the femoral neck and lumbar spine is the largest GWAS for BMD to date and offers 64 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 56 associated loci. We investigated these BMD loci in a Korean population called Korea Association REsource (KARE) to identify their validity in an independent study. The KARE population contains genotypes from 8,842 individuals, and their BMD levels were measured at the distal radius (BMD-RT) and midshaft tibia (BMD-TT). Thirteen genomic loci among 56 loci were significantly associated with BMD variations, and 3 loci were involved in known biological pathways related to BMD. In order to find putative functional variants, nearby SNPs in relation to linkage equilibrium were annotated, and their possible functional effects were predicted. These findings reveal that tens of variants, not a single factor, may contribute to the genetic architecture of BMD; have an important role regardless of ethnic group; and may highlight the importance of a replication study in GWASs to validate genuine loci for BMD variation.

This paper provides engineering J-integral and crack opening displacement (COD) estimation equations for circumferential through-wall cracked pipes under internal pressure and under combined internal pressure and bending. Based on selected 3-D finite element calculations for the circumferential through-wall cracked pipes under internal pressure using the idealized power law materials, the elastic and plastic influence functions for fully plastic J-integral and COD solutions are found as a function of the normalized crack length and the mean radius-to-thickness ratio. These developed GE/EPRI-type solutions are then re-formulated based on the enhanced reference stress method. Such re-formulation not only provides simpler equations for J-integral and COD estimations, but also can be easily extended to combined internal pressure and bending. The proposed equations are compared with elastic-plastic finite element results using actual stress-strain data, which shows overall excellent agreement.
