원형방사상편향에 의한 방사능계측용 기록장치 (A Recording System For Nuclear Radation Detection by Means Of Circular Radial Deflection)

  • 원형방사상편향의 기록방식을 이용한 방사선계측장치로서 그 장치내용과 계측에의 응용례를 기술하였다. 장치의 전자관회로에 있어서 특수한 승산회로를 안출하므로써 원형시간축 뿐만 아니라 그 위에 나타난 펄스의 직선성도 잘 고려되었다. 논리회로에 의해서 1싸이클동안만 밝게하고 다음의 수사이클 동안을 어둡게 하므로써 방사선에 의한 랜돔 펄스를 원형시간축상에 나타내어 이것을 사진으로 기록할 수 있게 하였다. 본장치는 단수명핵종의 감리곡선과 그 파고분포곡선을 얻는데 적당한 것이다.

EVOLUTION OF THE PRIMORDIAL MAGNETIC FIELD I. INITIAL MORPHOLOGY AND STRENGTH

  • The morphology and strength of the primordial magnetic field which is generated spontaneously in the early universe are studied for three models: (1) inflation (2) primordial magnetized bubble and (3) primordial turbulence models, We calculate the power spectra of magnetic field that are scale-free and proportional to $k^{1.5},k^{3{\sim}4}$ and $k^{2/3}$, respectively. The configurations of magnetic field having these power spectra are visualized. To constrain the present strength of the primordial magnetic field we calculate the anisotropy of the microwave background radiation in Bianchi type I universe with globally homogeneous magnetic field. From the COBE limit of the quadrupole moment of $({\delta}T/T)_{l=2}$ the present strength of horizen-scale magnetic fields $B_p$ is constrained to be less than $9{\times}10^{-8}G$.

  • We have developed a measurement system with which harmful radio noise can be detected. It was designed to cover 1GHz band width centered at l.5GHz and 22.2GHz ($H_2O$ line).The system consists of pyramid horn antennas, receivers, equatorial tracking system, spectrum analyzer, and PC for the control of the servo and data taking. As a test of the system, the site of Taeduk Radio Astronomy Observatory (TRAO) was investigated to see if there is any harmful radio interference. It is found that in 22GHz band there is no significant radio noise, but there are identified and unidentified artificial radio signals in 1-2GHz range. However a simple calculation of radiation power shows that it is week enough not to affect the observations in TRAO.

  • This paper presents the frequency range and an analysis method to find the dominant source of electro-magnetic wave which originates from a spark ignition in engine room. Applying the distributed constant equivalent circuit theory the radiation of probable electro-magnetic wave around an ignition plug and a high voltage cable is studied analytically. Experimental studies are also conducted by measuring the frequency spectrum to obtain the radiating characteristics of electro-magnetic wave. Results from both analytical and experimental studies confirm that an ignition plug and a high voltage cable are dominant sources of electro-magnetic wave and that the radiating frequency is ranged from 1.3[GHz] to 2[GHz] band.

Electron Spin Resonance Investigation of Fe3+ in Crystalline LiNbO3 Under the Polarized External Radiation

  • We study the electron spin resonance line-width (ESRLW) of $Fe^{3+}$ in crystalline $LiNbO_3$ ; the ESRLW is obtained using the projection operator method (POM) developed by Argyres and Sigel. The ESRLW is calculated to be axially symmetric about the c-axis and is analyzed by the spin Hamiltonian with an isotopic g factor at a frequency of 9.5 GHz. The ESRLW increases exponentially as the temperature increases, and the ESRLW is almost constant in the high-temperature region (T>8000 K). This kind of temperature dependence of the ESRLW indicates a motional narrowing of the spectrum when $Fe^{3+}$ ions substitute the $Nb^{5+}$ ions in an off-center position. It is clear from this feature that there are two different regions in the graph of the temperature dependence of the ESRLW.

  • In this paper, the echo phenomena of Yingying Pagoda(ancient Chinese architecture), which may be resulted from interferences of reflection and diffraction by the pagoda eaves when pulse sound source is at some suitable positions, are investigated by an 1:2 scale model. There are valleys in frequency spectrum due to the interferences. On the other hand, taking eaves as wedges approximately, numerical spectral estimates are obtained from the closed-form impulse solution for diffraction of pulse point-source radiation by an infinite rigid wedge. The results of the numerical computations are similar to those of the model experiments. The study is a helpful guide to reconstruction or maintenance of this kind of ancient buildings.

MATERIAL INVESTIGATION AND ANALYSIS USING CHARACTERISTIC X-RAY

  • The characteristic X-rays emitted from materials after gamma ray exposure was simulated and measured. A CdTe semiconductor detector and a $^{57}Co$ radiation source were used for energy spectroscopy. The types of materials could be identified by comparing the measured energy spectrum with the theoretical X-ray transition energy of the material. The sample composition was represented by the $K_{\alpha1}$-line (Siegbahn notations), which has the highest intensity among the characteristic X-rays of each atom. The difference between the theoretic prediction and the experimental result of K-line measurement was < 0.61% even if the characteristic X-rays from several materials were measured simultaneously. 2D images of the mixed materials were acquired with very high selectivity.

  • In previous study, we showed the feasibility of the in vivo use of portable near infrared system for the determination of human skin moisture. In order to optimize the acquiring condition of NIR spectrum of skin. skin depth profiling was investigated changing the distance and gap size between illumination and receiving of radiation in the terminal of fiber probe. The colleted light information could be controlled depending the distance and gap of fiber optic probe. (omitted)

Synthesis and Spectroscopic Characterization of Manganese(II), Iron(III) and Cobalt(III) Complexes of Macrocyclic Ligand. Potential of Cobalt(III) Complex in Biological Activity

  • A new series of manganese(II), iron(III) and cobalt(III) complexes of 14-membered macrocyclic ligand, (3,6,10,13,16,19-hexaazabicyclo[6.6.6]icosane-1,8-diamine) have been prepared and characterized by elemental analyses, IR, UV-VIS, $^1H$- and $^{13}C$- NMR spectra, magnetic susceptibilities, conductivities, and ESR measurements. Molar conductance measurements in DMF solution indicate that the complexes are electrolytes. The ESR spectrum for cobalt(III) complex in $CD_3OD+10%D_2O$ after exposure to $^{60}Co-{\gamma}$-rays at 77 K using a 0.2217 M rad $h^{-1}$ vicrad source showed $g_{\perp}$ > $g_{\parallel}$ > $g_e$, indicating that, the unpaired electron site is mainly present in the $d_z2$ orbital with covalent bond character. In this case, the ligand hyperfine tensors are nearly collinear with ${\gamma}$-tensors, so there is no major tendency to bend. Therefore, little extra delocalization via the ring lobe of the $dz^2$ orbital occurs. However, the ESR spectrum in solid state after exposure to $^{60}Co-{\gamma}$-rays at 77 K showed $g_{\parallel}$ > $g_{\perp}$ > $g_e$, indicating that, the unpaired electron site is mainly present in the $d_x2_{-y}2$ ground state as the resulting spectrum contains a large number of randomly oriented molecules provided that, the principle directions of g and A tensors. Manganese (II) complex 2, $[H_{12}LMn]Cl_4.2H_2O$, showed six isotropic lines characteristic to an unpaired electron interacting with a nucleus of spin 5/2, however, iron(III) complex 3, $[H_{12}LFe]Cl_5.H_2O$, showed spectrum of a high spin $^{57}Fe$ (I=1/2), $d^5$ configuration. The geometry of these complexes was supported by elemental analyses, IR, electronic and ESR spectral studies. Complex 1 showed exploitation in reducing the amount of electron adducts formed in DNA during irradiation with low radiation products.

USGS 단파장 적외선 데이터베이스 분석 및 국내 사례와 비교: 광물학적 활용도 고찰 및 국내 산출 일라이트로의 적용 사례 (Investigation of USGS Short-Wave Infrared Databases and Comparison with Domestic Cases - Focusing on the Availability for the Mineralogical Analyses and an Application on the Domestic Illite -)

  • 단파장 적외선 스펙트럼은 생성환경에 따라 상당히 큰 변화폭을 갖고 있으므로, 해외에서는 스펙트럼 라이브러리를 제작하여 데이터베이스화하고 있다. 대표적으로 USGS, CSIRO가 있으며, 최근 중국에서 과거 다수의 자료들을 종합하여 사용할 수 있는 프로젝트를 진행하고 있다. USGS 라이브러리는 광물뿐만 아니라 적외선에 반응하는 다양한 물질들을 대상으로 한 총 2,457개 스펙트럼을 제공한다. 이 중 광물 스펙트럼은 1,276개로 전체의 절반 정도이다. 스펙트럼 명칭에 분석기기(NIC4, BECK, ASDNG 등), 순도코드(a, b, c, d, u) 및 측정 방식 (AREF, RREF, RTGC, TRAN)을 표시하였으며, 시료별 별도의 메타파일을 제공하여 사용자의 이해를 돕고 있다. 분석치는 ASCII와 GIF 형태로 제공한다. CSIRO 라이브러리는 총 502개이며, 이 중 대다수인 493개가 광물 스펙트럼이다. USGS 라이브러리는 무료로 공개된 자료인 반면, CSIRO 라이브러리는 TSG8에 번들로 제공되거나 별도로 구매해야 한다. USGS 라이브러리에서 일라이트는 4개의 시료에 대하여 분석기기별 12개 스펙트럼을 제공한다. 이들 중 스펙트럼 형상이 분석 가능한 8개 스펙트럼과 국내 일라이트 스펙트럼을 비교해 보면, 일본산 일라이트 1개를 제외하면 국내 일라이트와 흡수피크의 위치가 상당한 차이를 보인다. 이와 같은 차이의 발생 원인에 대한 추가연구뿐만 아니라, 우리나라에 적합한 데이터베이스의 구축이 필요하다.
