The optical characteristics of a terahertz (THz) antenna-coupled bolometer (ACB) detector were evaluated using a pulsed quantum cascade laser (QCL) and radiation blackbody sources. We investigated a method for measuring the responsivity and noise-equivalent power (NEP) of the THz detector using two different types of light sources. When using a QCL source with a frequency of 3 THz, the average responsivity of 24 devices was $1.44{\times}10^3V/W$ and the average NEP of those devices was $3.33{\times}10^{-9}W/{\surd}Hz$. The average responsivity and NEP as measured by blackbody source were $1.79{\times}10^5V/W$ and $6.51{\times}10^{-11}W/{\surd}Hz$, respectively, with the measured values varying depending on the light source. This was because the output power of each light source was different, with the laser source being driven by a pulse type wave and the blackbody source being driven by a continuous wave. The power input to the THz sensor was also different. Futhermore, the responsivity and NEP values measured using band pass filter (BPF) were similar to those measured when using only THz windows. It was found that ACB sensor responds normally in the THz region to both the laser and the blackbody source, and the method was confirmed to effectively evaluate the characteristics of the THz sensor.
The Satellite Electro-Optic Payload System needsspecial requirements with the conditions of limited power consumption and the space environment of solar radiation. The acquired image quality should be mainly depend on the GSD (Ground Sampled Distance), SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio), and MTF (Modulation Transfer Function). On the well-manufactured sensor level, the thermal noise is removed on ASP (Analog Signal Processing) using the CDS (Corrective Double Sampling); the noise signal from the image sensor can be reduced from the offset signals based on the pre-pixels and the dark-pixels. The non-uniformity shall be corrected with gain, offset, and correction parameter of the image sensor pixel characteristic on the sensor control system. This paper describes the SNR enhancement method of the satellite EOS payload using the mentioned noise remove processes on the system design and operation, which is verified by tests and simulations.
This paper describes the development of a circularly polarized microstrip antenna, as a part of the Circularly Polarized Synthetic Aperture Radar (CP-SAR) sensor which is currently under developed at the Microwave Remote Sensing Laboratory (MRSL) in Chiba University. CP-SAR is a new type of sensor developed for the purpose of remote sensing. With this sensor, lower-noise data/image will be obtained due to the absence of depolarization problems from propagation encounter in linearly polarized synthetic aperture radar. As well the data/images obtained will be investigated as the Axial Ratio Image (ARI), which is a new data that hopefully will reveal unique various backscattering characteristics. The sensor will be mounted on an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) which will be aimed for fundamental research and applications. The microstrip antenna works in the frequency of 1.27 GHz (L-Band). The microstrip antenna utilized the proximity-coupled method of feeding. Initially, the optimization process of the single patch antenna design involving modifying the microstrip line feed to yield a high gain (above 5 dBi) and low return loss (below -10 dB). A minimum of 10 MHz bandwidth is targeted at below 3 dB of Axial Ratio for the circularly polarized antenna. A planar array from the single patch is formed next. Consideration for the array design is the beam radiation pattern in the azimuth and elevation plane which is specified based on the electrical and mechanical constraints of the UAV CP-SAR system. This research will contribute in the field of radar for remote sensing technology. The potential application is for landcover, disaster monitoring, snow cover, and oceanography mapping.

Space Imaging Sensor operated on LEO is affected from the Earth IR and Albedo as well as the Sun Radiation. The Imaging Sensor exposed to extreme environment needs thermal control subsystem to be maintained in operating/non-operating allowable temperature. Generally, units are periodically dissipated on spacecraft panel, which is designed as radiator. Because thermal design of the imaging sensor inside a spacecraft is isolated, heat pipes connected to radiators on the panel efficiently transfer dissipation of the units. First of all, preliminary thermal design of radiating area and heater power is performed through steady energy balance equation. Based on preliminary thermal design, on-orbit thermal analysis is calculated by SINDA, so calculation for thermal design could be easy and rapid. Radiators are designed to rib-type in order to maintain radiating performance and reduce mass. After on-orbit thermal analysis, thermal requirements for Space Imaging Sensor are verified.
In this study, plastic optical fiber sensors which can measure thermal neutron dose in a mixed neutron-gamma field are developed and characterized. Using $^{252}Cf$ and $^{60}Co$ sources, the scintillators suitable for thermal neutron detection, are tested and the scintillating lights generated from a plastic optical fiber sensor in the Kyoto University Critical Assembly (kuca) core are measured. Also, the distributions of thermal neutron and gamma-ray are measured in a mixed field as a function of the distance from the center of the reactor core at KUCA and the distribution of thermal neutron is obtained using a subtraction method. Sensitivity of the fiber-optic radiation sensor system is about 0.49 V/mW according to power of the KUCA core and its relative error is about 1.2 %.
In this paper, we propose enhanced DAP(Dose Area Product). The development of enhanced DAP proposed in this paper has optimized the area dose meter that was developed previously. The development of enhanced DAP performed Optimized design of charge integrator and ADC circuit, optimization of line transceiver for RS-485 communication, optimization of display circuit, and optimization of PC-based control program for interlocking and aging. As a result of evaluating the performance of the proposed system in an accredited testing laboratory, Radiation dose dependence and Radiation quality dependence were measured to be 4.2%, which is below ${\pm}15%$ of international standard. Energy range/Tube voltage was confirmed in the range of 30~150kV. The sensitivity difference between sensor field and sensor field area dose sensitivity was measured to be 4.3%, and it was confirmed that it operates normally under ${\pm}15%$ of international standard. In order to measure the reproducibility of the area dosimeter, it was confirmed that it was 0% and it was operated normally at less than 2% of IEC60580 recommendation. Digital resolution was confirmed to be a minimum unit of $0.01{\mu}Gy{\cdot}m^2$ within the error range for the reference dose per hour.

Introduction : For stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) of a tumor in the region whose movement due to respiration is significant, like Lung lower lobe, the gated therapy, which delivers radiation dose to the selected respiratory phases when tumor motion is small, was peformed using the Respiratory gating system and its clinical effectiveness was evaluated. Methode and Materials : For two SRS patients with a tumor in Lung lower lobe, a marker block (infrared reflector) was attached on the abdomen. While patient' respiratory cycle was monitored with Real-time Position Management (RPM, Varian, USA), 4D CT was performed (10 phases per a cycle). Phases in which tumor motion did not change rapidly were decided as treatment phases. The treatment volume was contoured on the CT images for selected treatment phases using maximum intensity projection (MIP) method. In order to verify setup reproducibility and positional variation, 4D CT was repeated. Result : Gross tumor volume (GTV) showed maximum movement in superior-inferior direction. For patient $\#$1, motion of GTV was reduced to 2.6 mm in treatment phases ($30\%\~60\%$), while that was 9.4 mm in full phases ($0\%\~90\%$) and for patient $\#$2, it was reduced to 2.3 mm in treatment phases ($30\%\~70\%$), while it was 11.7 mm in full phases ($0\%\~90\%$). When comparing two sets of CT images, setup errors in all the directions were within 3 mm. Conclusion : Since tumor motion was reduced less than 5 mm, the Respiratory gating system for SRS of Lung lower lobe is useful.

There are two methods to fabricate the readout electronic to a large-area CMOS image sensor (LACIS). One is to design and manufacture the sensor part and signal processing electronics in a single chip and the other is to integrate both parts with bump bonding or wire bonding after manufacturing both parts separately. The latter method has an advantage of the high yield because the optimized and specialized fabrication process can be chosen in designing and manufacturing each part. In this paper, LACIS chip, that is optimized design for the latter method of fabrication, is presented. The LACIS chip consists of a 3-TR pixel photodiode array, row driver (or called as a gate driver) circuit, and bonding pads to the external readout ICs. Among 4 types of the photodiode structure available in a standard CMOS process, $N_{photo}/P_{epi}$ type photodiode showed the highest quantum efficiency in the simulation study, though it requires one additional mask to control the doping concentration of $N_{photo}$ layer. The optimized channel widths and lengths of 3 pixel transistors are also determined by simulation. The select transistor is not significantly affected by channel length and width. But source follower transistor is strongly influenced by length and width. In row driver, to reduce signal time delay by high capacitance at output node, three stage inverter drivers are used. And channel width of the inverter driver increases gradually in each step. The sensor has very long metal wire that is about 170 mm. The repeater consisted of inverters is applied proper amount of pixel rows. It can help to reduce the long metal-line delay.

In this study, $Co^{60}$ gamma-ray induced loss on Ge-doped single mode (SM) fiber has been measured. Gamma-ray is irradiated for 4 hours at the dose rate of 0.5 kGy/hr, 2 kGy/hr, 8 kGy/hr. Consequently, gamma-ray induced loss based on radiation effects in Ge-doped SM fiber occur significantly. Furthermore, dose rate effect was observed, that dose rate using the same total dose increased higher, then optical fiber loss increased more. Also annealing effect was observed, that the loss after irradiation, increased higher, then the recovery rate of loss was increased. This results are foreseen to be base data in the future radiation-hardened optical fiber study.

Safety and security system have been internationally enhanced in a field of shipping logistics. Accordingly, techniques for safety and security have been studied steadily. The need of portable radiation detection device is increasing by the search of the container is enhanced. In this paper, we propose to study on the application of the temperature compensation algorithm to the platform to improve the accuracy and the realization of portable radiation detection device based on Cortex-A9. Analog board deforms signal output from the sensor. And Cortex-A9 platform analyzes the signal received and displays the results. Additionally we use the temperature compensation algorithm and thereby we ca look the same results even if the temperature changes.
