In this paper, we propose a wide-range radiation measurement system using GM Tube and NaI(TI) detector. The proposed system is designed as a small module optimized to control and count the detector signal of NaI(Tl) Detector and GM Tube. The radiation dose is measured in a wide-range 0.1uSv/h to 10mSv/h in conjunction with two detectors, and two detectors operate simultaneously at 10uSv/h to 100uSv/h, where the measurement interval overlaps. The radiation dose was selected using a wide-range radiation measurement algorithm that controls the on/off function of the detector in the appropriate interval for the overlapped radiation measurable interval. In order to evaluate the performance of the proposed system, it has been confirmed that the measurement uncertainty of each section is measured as ${\pm}7.5%$ and it operates normally under ${\pm}15%$ of the international standard.

It is important to test and evaluate the variation degree of ship-mounted antenna radiated power with respect to all directions in order to use more effectively antennas that installed on naval ships. The naval ship has various sensors for navigation, communication and electronic warfare, etc. And the performance of these sensors extremely depends on the various characteristics of antenna system to transmit and receive electromagnetic wave. The radiated power pattern of the antenna differs from all aspect angles of the ship because of complex superstructures. It is important to know the weak point(direction) of antenna radiation for appropriate operation. Therefore, the ARP(Antenna Radiation Pattern) of shipboard antennas is measured for the all aspect angles. The results of ARP measurement are utilized as reference for antenna arrangement of newly-built same class warship. This study also describes the development results for the ARP measurement technique, software design and test procedures to measure the radiation pattern of communication equipment antennas using the fixed test site.
Daily solar radiation is essential for water resources planning and environmental impact assessment. However, radiation data is not commonly available in Korea other than in big cities, and there has been no direct measurement for rural areas where water resources planning and environmental impact assessment is usually most needed. In general, missing radiation data is estimated from nearby regional stations within a certain distance, and this study compared two dominant methods (modified Angstrom equation and transmittance interpolation method) at six stations in Nakdong River watershed area. Two methods shows a similar level of accuracy but the transmittance interpolation method is likely to be superior in that there is no need for any measurement element since the modified Angstrom equation require the sunshine hour measurement. This study will contribute to improve water resource and water quality management in Nakdong River watershed.
In this paper, the therapy radiation dose measurement system has been implemented by using a microcomputer after radiation was irradiated on diodes from the MM22 microtron accelerator. We have displayed 7-channel diode output values on the LCD after processing those in the 80196 MCU(Micro Computer Unit). Signal processing has been performed in the pulse mode because we can process the signal fast and use it to perform portal image by increasing a number of diode channels in the future. In order to verify the microcomputer based radiation measurement system of diodes, diode output values were compared with that of semiconductor.
A mobile direct detection Doppler LIDAR based on molecular backscattering for measurement of wind in the stratosphere has been developed in Hefei, China. First, the principle of wind measurement with direct detection Doppler LIDAR is presented. Then the configuration of the LIDAR system is described. Finally, the primary experimental results are provided and analyzed. The results indicate that the detection range of the designed Doppler LIDAR reached 50 km altitude, and there is good consistency between the molecular Doppler wind LIDAR(DWL) and the wind profile radar(WPR) in the low troposphere.
Background: Radiation is used in a variety of areas, but it also poses potential risks. Although radiation is often used with great effectiveness in many applications, people perceive potential risks associated with radiation and feel anxious about the possibility of radiation exposure. Various methods of measuring radiation doses have been developed, but there is no way for the general public to measure their doses with ease. Currently, many people use smartphones, which provide information about the location of an individual phone through network connections. If a smartphone application could be developed for measuring radiation dosage, it would be a very effective way to measure individuals' radiation doses. Thus, we conducted a survey study to assess the social acceptance of such a technology by the general public and their intent to use that technology to measure radiation doses, as well as to investigate whether such an intention is correlated with anxiety and attitudes toward the use of radiation. Materials and Methods: A nationwide online survey was conducted among 355 Koreans who were 20 years old or older. Results and Discussion: Significant differences were found between the genders in attitudes, perceptions of radiation risk, and fears of exposure to radiation. However, a significant difference according to age was observed only in the intent to use a smartphone dose measurement application. Attitudes towards the use of radiation exerted a negative effect on radiation risk perception and exposure anxiety, whereas attitudes towards the use of radiation, risk perception, and anxiety about exposure were found to have a positive impact on the intent to use a smartphone application for dose measurements. Conclusion: A survey-based study was conducted to investigate how the general public perceives radiation and to examine the acceptability of a smartphone application as a personal dose monitoring device. If such an application is developed, it could be used not only to monitor an individual's dose, but also to contribute to radiation safety information infrastructure by mapping radiation in different areas, which could be utilized as a useful basis for radiation research.

I. Objective and Importance of the Project We have been using MC-50 cyclotron and NT-50 neutron therapy machine for treating cancer patients since 1986 at Korea Cancer Center Hospital. It is mandatory to measure accurately the dose distribution and the total absorbed dose of fast neutron for putting it to the clinical use. At present the methods of measurement of fast neutron are proposed largely by American Associations of Physicists in Medicine (Task Group 18), European Clinical Neutron Dosimetry Group, and International Commission on Radiation Units and Measurements. The complexity of measurement, however, induce the methodological differences between them. In our study, therefore, we tried to establish a unique technique of measurement by means of measuring the emitted doses and the dose distribution of fast neutron beam from neutron therapy machine, and to invent a standard method of measurement adequate to our situation. II. Scope and Contents of the Project For establishing a unique technique of measurement and inventing a standard method of measurement of fast neutron beam, 1. to grasp the physical characteristics of neutron therapy machine 2. to study the principles for measrement of fast neutron beam 3. to get the dose distribution (dose rate, percent-depth dose, flatness etc) throught the actual measurement 4. to compare our data with those being cited world-widely.
The designed drone-based unmanned remote radiation detection module was developed according to the needs of the nuclear power plant decommissioning workshop. Using the Geiger-Mueller tube sensitive to low-level radiation measurement, It was manufactured to measure the amount of radiation leaking into and out of the containment vessel. The drone-based radiation detection module weighs less than 200g, It can be operated inside and outside the containment vessel of a nuclear power plant. To check the performance of the designed equipment, a performance evaluation test was conducted with reference to the international standard (IEC-60864). The stability of the radiation detection module designed to meet the needs of the field the statistical rate of change by repeated measurements in the rate of change experiment to evaluate the measurement accuracy was ±4.6%. The accuracy ±7.3% in the linearity experiment to evaluate the dose rate dependence, the linear The figure satisfies the international performance evaluation standard of ±3.5%. The radiation detection module developed in this study is a customized equipment for a nuclear power plant dismantling workshop. It will be helpful for accurate measurement of space dose rate and safety management of radiation worksites in sites with a lot of radiation dust.

Solar radiation data are used in several forms and for a variety of purposes. The most detailed information we have is beam and diffuse solar radiation on a horizontal surface, by hours, which is useful in simulations of solar processes. Daily data are more often available and monthly total solar radiation on horizontal surface can be used in some process design methods. However, as performance is generally not linear with solar radiation, the use of average may lead to serious errors if non-linearities ara not taken into account. It is also possible to reduce radiation data to more manageable forms by statistical methods. The control of the quality of most measurements is relegated to the control of the measuring instruments and measuring processes themselves. An accurate measurement will usually result from the use of a high-quality instrument that has been accurately calibrated and is properly used by a qualified individual.

When a thermocouple is placed in a high temperature gas-flow stream, the measured temperature could be biased from the true gas temperature due to a large radiation heat loss from a thermocouple surface to its surroundings. In this study, two thermocouples of unequal diameters with 1/8 inch and 1/16 inch are used to correct the radiation effect. The method is called the reduced radiation error (RRE). The preliminary test results show that the radiation and the sheath conduction cannot be negligible for the gas temperature measurement. To minimize the sheath conduction effect, all the thermocouples will have a grounded junction and 1/8 inch thermocouple will be replaced with 1 mm thermocouples. In addition, the computational fluid dynamics code analysis shows that there is a negligible temperature difference between the positions where the thermocouples were installed.
